Anime. Video Games. Movies. Books. Poetry. Philosophy. If you like any of those things, you will find something to love here on this channel, as I analyze and breakdown the media that keeps you up at night.
I am interested in a lot of things. I am going to make a lot of videos on a lot of things that I am interested in. And I want you to come along for that ride. The core of this channel will be longform analysis videos, of which I will try to upload two a month, but that may vary depending on the length and scale of each video. But since I am the attention span of a goldfish, expect impromptu videos that I scripted in one sitting, or completely unscripted, to be uploaded often, as well as livestreams!
Until Then. And, After That. THE END.

Great Video!
This may seem like kind of a dick move but I'm not even going to watch the video because I don't want to taint my own perspective on the artistry at play. I hated JOKER when I saw it in theaters. I myself couldn't understand how a stupid, psychotic, retard, who dances around in his underwear, who suffocates his mother, who exists in pure mentally ill isolation, and eeks out an existence be praised as The Clown Prince from the Batman comics. It felt like a fraud to me. An impostor. I did think the film was extraordinarily beautiful, as well as the score, which is haunting, beautiful, tragic, and tragically sick. So, I'm not a complete idiot, I just found the film to be a derivative and a bastardization of an iconic character as well obvious propaganda and social programming. Then, it came out on HBO Max, & during the covid lockdown I rewatched many times because that insanity of isolation was basically everywhere in society, and the film helped to filter, and recontextualize for me, which then made me kind of fall in love with the film because I saw it as that romanticized vision of insanity in an insane world. See, Arthur is insane, and he is a victim, and he is absolutely right, but at the same time, he is also insane, and his actions reflect his environment. He's not the Clown Prince. He's simply a vessel for people to project themselves onto which in fact Arthur does to himself by projecting the Joker onto himself. The 2nd film, which I did not see, and do not feel the need to see, but I admit I might fall in love with when I finally do watch it appears to be a dialog about the imposter syndrome Arthur, his sycophants, and the audience have because this character of Arthur Fleck is the study of projecting chaos onto a figure in order to express the insanity in a more pure and distilled form. Arthur confronts his shadowself and thus we, the sycophants, the audience, confront our shadowself for identifying with that insanity which we all are aware of that is the undercurrent of our destabilizing society. The 2nd film feels like an intentional larp and goof because Arthur's psyche cannot share a Folie A Deux with someone. He rightfully won't allow others to hijack the fantasy he's made for himself, and the society has encouraged until he realizes those same people don't know what the fuck they're talking about and don't care.
I understood it perfectly. It’s a Brilliant film ! I’m hoping Joaquin Phoenix wins best actor again. He deserves it
The US bombing them obviously didnt help. But that has nothing to do with the middle east disdain for the west. We are "heretics" and "we deserve to d¡e". Its LITERALLY in the Quran. "Fight the unbelievers where ever you find them" Isis has directly addressed the american leftwing media making the same claims you do here. The flat out told the world, that it has nothing to do with their motives. We are "godless dogs and must ve destroyed". You realize muslims conqured about a third of the planet during the Islamic Golden Age, right. But riding in and slaughtering anyone who wouldnt bow to Allah. The were no US back then, there werent even firearms or explosive yet. Its a religious war, carried out by fundamentalists, and its been going on for over a thousand years. The Islam youre talking about is the Sunni. Think "New Testament", its not really a good comparison from an objective perspective but similar in spirit. Those muslims are NOT the ones flying planes into buildings. Those are the Sharia, the proverbial "Old Testament" muslims. These are the one throwing gays off of roof tops, honor k¡II women if theyre graped, attack and behead tourists for no other reason than NOT being muslim. If you think they WOULDNT do this regrdless if the US waged war at them, you really dont know anything about the world. Its vitally important to understand not all muslims are like that. But its equally important to understand that some of them *_are_* like that. When people tell you who they are, believe them. When Isis, on video, tells you "american media lies, we attack you because youre godless dogs and an insult to Allah, youre way of life is sacrilege and you will bow to Allah or be destroyed." you might wanna trust them. It would be infinitely better for them to confirm the american leftwing narrtive, to say that it was true. They would have the moral highground, they would have ALOT of support even from the people theyre trying to k¡II, it would be a milllion times esier for them to achieve their goal as they would have sympathizers on the inside, helping them. There is literally only one single reason for them to say the media was lying. Because its true... And they *_want_* us to know why theyre doing it. Their mission is to spread islam across the world, that also written in the Quran. If they do what they do and us being delusional, ¡d¡0t westerners thinking "no one is born bad, you become bad out if circumstance" then their message wont come across and all their work was for nothing. As Robert Heinlein said, punishing someone who doesnt know why hes being punished is an exercise in futility Again, Im paraphrasing but it doesnt make hia point any less valid. I read this article and saw this video probably 10 to 15 years ago so the quote is most likely not word for word correct but that was the what they said. They then went on about how, if we didnt kneel, they were gonna behead our children and ®@¶€ our women. You realize there are terrorist attacks in Sweden, right? A country that LITERALLY never bombed anyone, ever. Until last year Sweden had been at peace for almost 300 years. The longest neutrality in recorded history. All Sweden ever did was take in muslim migrants fleeing the war. If what you believe it was true... Care to explain how they ended up hating, hurting and k¡II¡ng the people who never did them wrong in any way shape or form but actually went FAAAR out of their way to *_help_* them? Youre the indoctrinated one. Your beliefs does not line up with reality.
Watched both vol's of the series after you recommended it and imma say. It was something I watched. But I don't think I enjoyed it that much. I will say it didn't feel like IP based analog horror but I still just can't get the concept entirely. Like analog horror has the same basic rules of found footage which is A) why does the tape exist? And B) why does it still exist? And feel like this series answers none of those. If jt was just a creepy webseries "dont hug me Im scared style" i think I would be a lot less harsh. It also didn't really have any effective scares to me. Actually to bring up a series that I think has similar subject matter and actually works with the medium of found footage/digital horror was the Laceys games series by ghosttundra. The 3rd episode of that still scares me a lot. But yeah thats all I really thought of it. Even though I didn't like the series Im happy others can enjoy it for their own reasons. Also i was right in predicting this video was peak. -sorry if this is hard to read I'm slow as hell
@Jerome_M_0 it's not hard to read, you're all good! And yeah it certainly doesn't utilize the "analog horror" genre of storytelling to it's fullest, but looking back on it now maybe it's supposed to be a partial subversion of that medium - having "The Mind of Riley Corporation" seems almost like a spoof, and it happening inside her mind even when an "entity" is shown is different enough that I might even call it a subtle subversion. I'd have to think about it more though. And I've actually watched all of Lacey Games with some subscribers in my discord, it was unsettling to say the least. I already have a bit of script written for a video, but I put it on the backburner for Arcane and Mouthwashing, as it would be a bigger project, and juggling three big projects at once just isn't possible for me. I do plan on making that video someday though, I really do think it's a cool and great series! And thank you for saying the video was peak - even if you didn't really enjoy the Inside Out Tapes, I'm happy you could still at least enjoy the video! (:

Nice video though Gold gives more clarity: Mercury is a different person and not representation of her child. A different TH-cam ask the developer about what the bad place is and replayed its what everything Pompy dislikes. It’s obtuse at times to interpret what pompy is doing in reality vs what she thinks is happening around her, but similar details between Venus and mercury blurs this line, from four entities hiding the stars ✨ the two earths. And the game hinting not to trust the king of dogs related to the missing stars and a poem about parents replacing used up toys. Personal interpretation that pompy has preexisting delusions but the mind reading helmet does connect her to the Jungian collective unconscious which exasperates her preexisting problems. The true end she does what any Jungian story protagonist does and escapes reality for godhood and the dogs control were he then tries to manipulate Mercury instead. Though think the game story be most interesting read in three separate ways: Literally, Metaphorical reality commentary, and this was only a mental episode.
31:18 gold gets crazier Humans went extinct in captivity with thrats replacing them (though also supposedly went extinct in captivity) and then came things could Humans?
season 2 is here. and seriously. it's almost impossible for me not to relate jayce's hextex with nuclear energy and oppenheimer. just like him. now jayce feels compelled to forge weapons for sawn's pratulla to try to fix the mess he made. being terrified by the power he has unleashed. and of course, there are also the references. the echo tree being infected by the hextex. the fact that the professor, echo and jayce apparently entered the "quantum world". and so on.
the fact that it ends with the very rebellion he started biting back and killing him just when he wanted to really live outside of dellusion (even tho he was getting the death penalty) is so ironically tragic. The way he cuts the strings that were holding him up but also sealing him in, the way he just wants to stop the music and the dance and rest, just for it all to stab him and shoot him in the end. Its a real tragedy. Specially considering that what really brought him to want to stop everything was the night before, where the guards horribly abused him, and brought him back to the pain that his dad had given him. The fact that he had to go through that to get back in touch with his real emotions is heartwrenching, its like they tossed him back into the horrors till he couldnt even hold up his dream of "bringing joy". Maybe in this new life he was talking about that wouldve been possible, but of course when the charges started going he realised there was nothing left and just let the laughter take over one more time. Arthur was scared of dying, he felt weak. He was human, and thats what i love about this film. They brought an artificial villain and applied the dellusion to a realistic scenario, where bad things really do happen even for "the joker" I do believe he had to fight for himself, but its obvious that he didnt want to do it the way people did want him to
You know, I think in the beginning of the video. You forgot to say, don't do drugs? Because I think someone did drugs, and that's what happens when you do them, because one in the world was that intro. The only thing I learned from it is not to do drugs
@@christianaustin2349 no drugs involved, I'm just schizophrenic lmao
@@AsukkaTVwhere we’re going, we don’t need drugs
I love that the film is still very much open to interpretation. And that if you pay close attention Arthurs condition is proven in the film /court. When his lawyer is on the phone he says to her "They're gonna let me watch a movie, you know. Like a normal person." She replies. "No Arthur I told you, I don't think you should ." Click. We saw at the end of the first film he'd placed himself inside the film No Country for Old Men...so to me, the fact that film film he and Lee watch basically outlines the rest of the film through song says to me. Arthur is still an unreliable narrator.
This movie is amazing fuck the hating clowns
My favorite movie of the year. An absolute masterpiece.
Personally, I felt like everything he did in the movie was for attention and confirmation. For example when his neighbor says the movie about him was horrible, he immediately turns to Lee for confirmation that the film was actually great. During his statements in court, there is laughter, but no one looks like they’re laughing. It seems to be in his head as well, just like the musical songs. We don’t know what is phantasy and what isn’t
The movie didn't do enough of a few things. Didn't highlight enough of the dangerous joker fan base outside of the Asylum and showcase the revolution. Like actually causing crimes. Didn't even remember there was a big movement until the explosion scene. Harley was supposed to represent it, but even a scene when she was out of prison of a clown masked guy creating havoc. Loved the songs that actually happened in scene and just felt like madness. Didn't like any of them whether they went into another set in their minds. Maybe when he transitioned into the joker in court was okay, but that should've been the only one. He should've actually either influenced someone or personally did something to hurt a prison guard, which should've led to them wanting to actually get pissed enough to do whatever they did to him in the shower. Harley should've really done him dirty in the end. With these changes, i would've loved it. I didn't hate it i liked it better because i was at home. The joker movement just should have been shown more, even if Arthur was just Arthur. That would at least showcase the conflict
i had no interest watching this show because it didn't seem like my thing but love hearing people talk about stuff like this but i have to go watch it now lol i'm getting emotional over snippets of this show. thank you lol
I love the first movie. And I went into this movie after reading heavy public opinions on this movie. I refused to believe that it could possibly be horrible movie after first one is damn near perfect in my opinion. So I had to see for myself and... yeah it's still the odd theatrical experience so distinct and thought provoking and above all just a great art to enjoy. Maybe I didn't love it, but it is definitely great cinema and the fact most people don't like it says more about most people than it does about quality of this movie. Found this video to confirm I am not crazy and it really was misunderstood.
I always saw Edgerunners as a spat on the face on the self-consuming pursue of success and dreams. David is always told that his dreams are not his own and how that's a bad thing, but see Gloria, Maine and Lucy, none of them are happy throwing their lives away in that pursuit, unlike David who was the only one to die with a true smile of satisfaction in his face, ironic for the man who just lived for his friends. It's not about making it or not, Lucy on the moon proves that, dreams like Making it to the top of Arasaka and going to the moon are no different than the greedy schemes of the corpos of night city, after all, behind every single one of them there most likely was a mother who just wished for his son to reach the top of society. IMO, on the moon and staring at the sun, Lucy comes to realize exactly that, human connection is far more important than dreams. It's still a sad ending, but for someone who lived her whole life running and pushing people away (she even pushed David away at many points damm), that shot staring at the sun symbolises a new beginning, with the Sun, the card of renewal and a bright future, and David both being the forerunners of that change.
This experience is very relatable to me, as well as the ones in the previous video. I've always viewed myself in the third person, akin to the remakes of the resident evil games. It's difficult to impossible to view myself as a person with will and desires, I just am a vessel for whoever wants to control me that day. It's easier to identify with whoever or whatever is nearest to me than "myself." objects feel more human than people often. listening to the heartbeat of a building is reassuring to me. there's intimacy. One thing I really appreciate these games is the art style. it kinda perfectly replicates how i interpret the world. Even if i don't see it literally, the essence of wrongness is still there. it's like seeing backwards and impolitely, if that even makes sense. genuinely thank you for making this video, i could never express how much i relate to this.
@@BrookeVincent-i7u it makes sense, i completely understand what you're saying. The heartbeat of a building is reassuring. Thank you for sharing your story, and I sincerely hope the best for you in life
i honestly think the only reason this movie was seen as “horrible” is because it had “joker” attached to it. and even then, i feel like it has a perfect ending for what was started with the first joker, of course the first is better, but thats always the case with franchises, even though it didnt give us what we wanted, gotta take a step back and realize that neither did the first film. we expected alot out of it. and yet we were left with something we didn’t expect but we learned to love and appreciate. the same goes with this film. but not as many people will appreciate this one. because it was made to make the fans of the first film feel stupid for thinking this guy was the actually joker. the joke was on you. and i love this second film because it really says “fuck you” which in my opinion makes it more enjoyable. great acting, and great story telling if you can wrap your head around what they were truly aiming for.
Excellent analysis.
Yep, this is a master piece.
