Victron VRM
Anyone know if 2 of these can now be paralleled?
Hello. Did you manage to integrate enphase into victron GX or VRM.? I have been looking for this for a while. Good day from the french alps
@pascalboudalier1518 Hinyes indeed both working fine..I'll do a follow up video soon
Why would you post this, don't people actually check if they have audio? Retarded
Can you please help me with mecer settings?
@moisekalonji6283 sorry haven't worked with these for many years
This is very interesting. Where are you based Alan ? I would be very interested in implementing this system on a boat. Why? My boat is Aluminum and it is ONLY DC current that causes issues on Aluminum hulls - AC does not do to a hull what DC can. A little inefficient (DC -> AC -> DC ) though but we will have to live with that.
@jimjones7821 Hi a boat is a bit more tricky unless you running main viltage devices like microwaves
@@alanfalck1184 Not sure I understand your reply. I am installing 2 x Multiplus II and i understand that micro inverters can be fed into the AC out side of the MPII - ie, the MPII microgrid. Are you in the Western Cape at all ? Would like to discuss this with you and see what you can supply to me
@jimjones7821 yes I'm in Cape Town happy to chat ... next video will have more of the setup
yeeees Thank u Alan Finally, that is exactly what I have been waiting a years for. The integration of Enphase into the Victron system en mainly the possibilities for Victron to control the Enphase ( in a ESS settings ) , just like fronuis inverter for ezxample. and the possibly arranging frequency shifting event of undesirable feed-in control, And if this is successful, this will open new doors for both Enphase and Victron Greetings Samy from the Netherlands
Looking forward to the next step by step setup with Victron

Excellent 😊 Could Enphase become popular you think there in South Africa?
@@TurreTuntematon Hi ithinl a lot depends on the use case of each project
@TurreTuntematon definitely has its places especially flexible when mixing panels .... like on a golf course where matching replacement damaged panels is a challenge
Hi Alan. Just got the same problem on my i3S. Did you find a solution?
@phillipthorning4035 Hi I was quoted R35k to replace the charger board in the motor assembly. I've since heard others have fixed similar issues with software fault clearing. I'm investigating this further now
@@phillipthorning4035 which country are you in ?
Hello, WHen you are off grid, is the charger able to throttle up and down depending on the available PV power ? How do the charger know how much is available, cause i can't see any way for it to do .. ! I'm pretty sad they do not have CCS an DC in, that would prevent to waste power in the inverter and wear it by using a 48V battery input/mppt output.
@davidniquot6423 Hi so the battery BMS CAN will controll the charge by the inverter. The AC loads will either be serviced by solar in the day or battery (or both). Not sure I've addressed yr question ?
Can this actually be converted to US 240v 60hz? It says on the spec sheet but I am unaware of how big of a work around that is
@bigace109 Hi I think the EU market was the first roll out but Victron would definitely cater for the US market going forward
@@alanfalck1184 k just want sure if mechanically or firmware currently for the EU product can be switched to 240v 60hz
How would the Multi RS compare to the Multiplus-II, when it comes to zero feed-in grid parallel operation?
@@ThanosSustainable parallel is not yet supported
Hi I have read that is not compatible with VE Bluetooth Smart Networking, how do you sync charge parameter if you have for example a SmartSolar charging in parallel the same battery ? Can you use CAN BUS and just daisy chain the 2 devices ?
@marcoarpago Good point ... the interface is certainly evolving fast ... right now I've been using VE Direct (and or CAN) as you still need a Cerbo GX to do external communication
@@alanfalck1184 I think is possible with VE-CAN at the moment
Great idea! My son needed something like this to prevent his solar system's battery from being drained when he's at work and loadshedding unexpectedly kicked in. Would you not get an "faulty element" error on your Geyserwise?
I belive there is a WiFi board for the Geyserwise
@@alanfalck1184 Indeed, as a matter of fact, it so happens that I'm evaluating one such system at the moment and will make a TH-cam video soon. Quite nice actually, but much more expensive as yours!
Hey, i have some help for them all
The yellow wires, from the conector of the bateríe on the frame, u open and the yellow small wire is positive, must pass 10volts, u can put s small bateríe of 9volts, u conect positive 9volts to the yellow small wire that it goes the controler, the negativo to the negativo of the 36v or 48v the same, i did it and it works, u will have 100%of batería on screen for one year, then u control the big batería with other sistem puching a boton, u can hack ur bike, it works 100%,sorry Bh
Greetings, I've had the Multi RS Solar since the very beginning and follow the progress and functionality of the hybrid every week, 3-phase configuration has been added, parallel switching capability is guaranteed to come and most recently the Victron CEO (Vader) said that an ESS with the new Victron There will be an energy meter, I'm curious, it can also feed into the grid but only to a limited extent. I use it with an RS450/100 and PV inverter and a 10kWh Lto energy storage. Greetings daniel
Thanks for sharing FYI I connect HWC (Hot Water Cylenders) or Geysers as we say doen south to the AC2 outbut and these non critical loads are then services by surplus solar (and battery) when available instead of the rather expensive Victron 3 phase energy meter.
Hi Alan where can I buy charger for that flat battery you have in video no where in Ireland have it
I have this. After an update at the end of 2023 it stoped powering my air con. Now I have to get a Control GX or Cerbo GX to adjust the aes setting. Could you maybe do a video on adjusting the aes setting on this inverter?
Hi Can't you do the adjustment via the Bluetooth Vctron Connect App ?
@@alanfalck1184 No. This setting is not in Victron Connect. I have ordered a Cerbo-S to see if I can get to the setting.
Hi sorry missed this post ... you can adjust remotely using Victron Connect and VRM to manage the "device"
Will you be able to make a video on how to do that please?
Thanks, Alan, how can I get hold of someone to do this connection and programming for me. I have the components but not many installers have the necessary experience.
Read the documents provided by victron. Though you could do the DC connection by yourself and even the programming(not literally, as these are settings which is done as per your needs) using the cerbo-gx, I would recommend to hire an electrician to do the AC work. Like installing the energy meter etc. Otherwise look for a victron shop near you, they can help you with everything. ps: I received mine yesterday and am working on it already
Hi. Great video 👍🏻Please can you tell me what type of cable do you use to connect the inverter to the cerbo ? I know it can be connected via ve.can but as far as i know there are 2 models of ve.can cables. Thanks
Hi you can use a standard cat 5 ethernet cable
@@alanfalck1184 Thank you 👌
Or you could wire all those loads on the ac-out2 port (that turns itself off when on a outage) of the Multis and remove all those fail prone parts you added. Could had been interesting if you added the configuration procedure for controlling the multis relay.
I've got one of these. It is a fantastic inverter at doing it's 3main jobs, inverting, charging, solar input. It is super quiet no fan noise or buzzing. It is VERY feature light compared to multiplus so if your expecting VE Config, Parallel, 3 phase, ESS, etc, etc then you won't be getting it with this. Out of the box it doesn't even have any scheduled charge function in the Bluetooth app. You plug it in, it charges, you unplug it, it stops. I've got round this by using a Cerbro and Node Red to do some basic programming on the AC input. As it stands - I think it needs another 6-12 months of firmware upgrades etc before it can compete with the Multiplus II - but even right now, for off grid / camper / motorhome / boat / shore power use it is phenomenal you could literally mount it next to your bed and still sleep. Can be used in the house as long as you are going to power the loads from the inverter (no ESS feeding back to grid etc). Overall 7/10 and I expect it to go up to 9/10 with more firmware improvements.
Thanks for the Feedback (The best part of TH-cam is the community) I've got some additional feedback to share since my first install. There are a few hidden features I've discovered via my local Distributor and testing in the workshop and field trials. I'm putting together a follow-up video with a deep dive into the electronics, firmware, new Vicron energy meter and some legacy support. Isthere any specific topic I should include?

@MrButuz I wish the GX was included so it's a turnkey sol
Yes ive have multi rs 48/6000/100 but its lot difference from south Africa one as it only one mppt controler 4 kw, four solar plug has screw terminals for 240 volt in and out.. lm have trouble running mine with grid as keep tripping rcd input side,,think i should just have circuit breaker on grid side but im living in Australia hard to change this cheers
Hi, I've had no RCD issues (on the output side)
Looks great, I wanted to buy one so to avoid the need for extra solar chargers. How efficient is the mmpt charger compared to mppt250/100? Thanks again for the video
The MPPT is not the same as the regular Victron MPPTs as it is AC (like a microonverter) I'll do a follow up on these features... also be aware there is a min 120v needed
@alanfalck1184 Thank you. I plan to connect 2 strings. In one there will be 3 bifacial 570w with 52 open circuit each. And on the other one 4 X 430w with 48v open circuit each. The inverter will be connected to two 48v 100ah batteries and in the ac in will be connected to a fronius 24gen plus 5kw
Not sure on efficiency but it does need a min of 120v before it works
@@alanfalck1184 The 450/100 MPPT is still on the DC BUS, not AC. it is designed for bigger installs - as you say it needs 120VOC from the panels to get going which is generally 4 or more 250+w house panels on each input. So u need 8 house panels or more. Having tested it with 10 panels (4 on one input 6 on the other input) it seems very efficient.
@@MrButuz Seems the RS Multi can be used as a solar inverter (DC input with an AC generator) just like Fronius. I've also heard (unconfirmed) the MPPT capacity is not limited to the normal 100A (IE PV / Battery Voltage around 5.5kW). I've heard people getting up to 11kW of Solar via the AC bus IE the DC to AC is happening at the MPPT level and not restricted to the Inverter (6kVA) max. I've yet to discover the true underlying architecture of this beast, I guess as this is a highly competitive sector of the market (Sunsync Deye) Victron are holding their cards closer to their chests? Guess we just are awaiting the new firmware to become available for better features like ESS Grid approval ETC ?
I’ve been waiting for someone to review this product for quite a while. It would be great is you could do it with audio.

Hello. I'm Eugene. I reset the battery as follows. I took an adjustable source of 60 v. I put on Plus and Minus of the battery. The two big pines, and I started from 0v slowly slowly and done. Activated! Good luck with that
If having a 5 kVA inverter how is it possible to get more kw out of the charger than the inverter is rated
The Victron inverters generally have a higher passthrough rating (from the AC input) than the inverter rating. The passthrough might be 15 kVA on a 5 kVA unit. I don't think that gives you 20kVA output, though you can if your input is limited boost it with the inverter capacity. e.g. if your connection is limited to 5kVA, you can get 10 kVA out by combining the grid connection and batteries.
@markhetherington2809 yes I understand that thanks . What I meant to say is in offgrid application the charger would only be limited by the inverter max rating output? Unless you have a gridtie inverter on ac-output also?
@@PhillipFourieZA yes, unless you also have a solar inverter producing energy, or some other source of power like a generator in an off grid installation you'd be limited to the conversion capacity of the battery inverter and available battery energy.
@@markhetherington2809 I will be reviewing the Multi RS soon this has some other tricks to produce more AC solar than the rated capacity
I believe ev-charger docs say that 1 phase ev charger can charge UP to 3kw, and 3-phase can charge up to 22kw. That may be the cause.
Can the system run in reverse where the EV battery can feed back to help run the inverter?
Not yet
Hi Alan thanks for this useful video. Any chance you can post more detail on how to set this up please?
I built an off grid system inside a toolbox, 24v 50Ah LifePo4 battery, Victron solar charger, Chinese 3000w (surge to 6000w) inverter, I run my fridges and freezer on sun shine days and only the fridges at night. I have 4 by 100w solar panels that I deploy during the day in my back yard, then bring them in at night. Now I am thinking of a 5kw hybrid system so I can make an off grid distribution board and run the plugs as required, thus 2 systems in one house. I am an Installation Electrician, retired.
I have 2 of them 8 years. With a victron smartshunt saw me -120w with no load and -58w with the one closed. And its 48v agm batteries system 230v output
Fantastic idea bud. Was just wondering. Is there anyway to get this to work with the Sonoff Temperature and Humidity THR320D. For example to wire in the Temperature sensor so that the sonoff sees it. I also want to pur the water sensor in that water catch tray so that if there is a leak it can cut power and send me a notification. Maybe even trigger a cut-off valve for the water.
8 years later an im getting this exact same thing for the exact same problem.....welcome to SA
Can we also have a video of the victron energy ns?
Hi yes indeed in fact the release of the NS has delayed my part II so I can cover both :)
HiI requested an NS Demo device (No Screen ) but no response thus far
Nice system.
Have you found out what the problem was? My 2016 BEV is also charging at around 3kw and does not go beyond that, but I don't have any warning as you mentioned.
Looking forward to your next videos. Not much content about this.
Thanks I want o include the new Modle as well
