It’s called Intermediate shaft
If you hold bright it will light up brighter for 15 minutes
Check out my build, except I'm running 706 heads, hp tuner, and 4l80e conversion with flowmasters with sloppy stage 2 cam and upgraded springs lifters oil pump bearings and pistons. www.youtube.com/@LS.MAFIAXL
Thanks for showing telling, cause I’m going to do my Dodge Ram 4x4 soon.cause it’s linking oil everywhere,so thanks again see ya next time see ya bye.
I cut a slot in the side of the stub shaft and used a pry bar against the case to pry it out . Piped out no problem
Wsp we was in the Match together gg
Oh hell yeah man GG
Hey where did you buy that little slide hammer ?
Harbor freight sells them some autoparts stores sell them aswell.
@@TwiztedGamingNetwork Thank you !
I just replaced my driver side CV axle, wheel hub/ bearing. My stub shaft seemed to be okay when I had iy dismantled, but the CV axle shredded both boots and was clanking around so bad that I had it towed home. Normally I'd have someone else do it rather than me in a wet gravel parking lot, but I am tired of being raped by mechanics. I have had the upper ball joint fail in the past and take out the outer CV shaft as it fell to the ground. Luckily I was barely moving at the time, but it caused damaged to my headlight and fender as well. Good thing I wasn't actually traveling on a road or highway. I have had rear axle trouble as well. The suspension and drivetrain on these trucks are absolute garbage IMHO. So far the engine has been running strong at 187k. I should knock on wood!
I'm going to be doing the same job here soon thanks Dodge..... I looked everywhere to see if this ever happened to a Chevy Silverado or anything I can't find it..... Nothing like going to do an oil change and grabbing your CV shaft to pull yourself under and feel it flopping around......
You leave the ring on take your harbor Bay freight slide hammer put the end on it and then a few hose clamps and voila.....
After trucks get five years old or so you need to keep up with maintenance or else you get a major bill all at once. I spent 340$ Cdn for a passenger side axel, stub shaft and bub for the driver side. Also put on new pads and a rotor which was seized onto the hub and had to be beat off with a maul. Truck has just over 130K on it and is a 2011. Second axle in two years on that side because I should have replaced the stub shaft the first time. It seemed to be tight on the new shaft but i can now tell it wasn't and wore out the splines to the point where it's sloppy. Ironically the new axel boots didn't last two years. People can say that's what happens when you buy cheap made in China parts but you have zero way of knowing where parts are made now. Once trusted companies now get their parts made in China as well, very few are actually made outside Asia even if they have our flag on the box.
This was a smart idea until you can fix the shaft. Don’t care what anyone says. At least you won’t watch your wheel roll away while you’re driving.
Thank you so much for sharing. My husband has been trying to tackle this job in between working. He said it’s one is the worse that he has seen. He never had this much trouble.
Your very welcome and i hope he has success.
Great video! I'm about to do this on my 04 winter beater and I wanted to see how others were doing it! I saw some other video where they were pulling the diff cover and all that and it doesn't look like fun.
Did you ever put that heat/dust shield back on to protect your rotor ?
I ordered brand new dust shields to put on
Can you show how to remove the cluster
Sadly I no longer have my fozzi I have a 2018 wrx. I wish you luck.
Great info dude. I'm doing a cv on my dodge and hope I don't run into that issue. But already having a tough time with the ball joints and tie rod. 😡
19mm = 3/4"
This is a great idea, for the next person who needs to do the same, cut the groove in the bad stub shaft to fit the tool rather than grinding the tool and weakening it for future use. Good job though, hind sight is always 20/20
Very true sir.
Thanks for good video how did u cut off cv axle
Didn't cut out cv axle bud just takes some persuasion.
I love Harbour Freight !!
Where da Roon at?
I need this done to my Ram. I have to find a shop that’s willing to do it....
If you have basic hands tools can be done at home.
Would have been great to video replacing the bulbs!!!
This video helped me tremendously! I was trying to figure out how to change out my pass side stub shaft and definitely didn't want to take that front diff cover off....a complete PITA! I did everything like you said with the tool from HF and it pulled right out no problem! THANK YOU!!
Great to hear!
Run what ya brung hahaha
No spin move. And oh the old cable came off lol.
Yessir it was fun till I broke it lol
🔥
Awesome video!!! Next time me to shut the hell up 😂🤣🤐
you were fine lol
Yesssir ...welcome poor boi to TH-cam .....my gonna rock man
I just bought a 2003 as well and would loved if you would post how to do the climate controls and did you even get to do the other switchs . Heated seats and door ?
Sadly I dont have the forester any longer I know have a 2018 wrx.
Hi thanks for your videos. I have a problem with my 2011 ram 1500 front diff. I have change cv schaft and intermediate axle of left side. and I think it still much play. so I opened it and take a video of it. If you can take look on it here is the link : th-cam.com/video/ma4tGF7-ems/w-d-xo.html Thank you.Thank you.
I Would this be the same for a 2015?? I put a new CV shaft on it didn't have a c clip on the shaft so I put back together without one? Mistake it tore the new shaft up?? Now I'm thinking it's the bearing on the end of the stub shaft?
Yes definitely the same for a 15 if the clip wasn't on the shaft when you pulled it out I would be concerned that is floating around in the diff.
hey, where did you buy those clips.?
Which clips? The rings on the stub shaft or that jaws for the puller?
Excellent video. To the point. Need to do this on my 11 ram. Passenger side
Great job👍 & were do you buy the stub shaft from ? God bless
Sorry for the late response I ordered the stub shaft online. I can't remember where exactly.
Did too much of off road with a level on mine and my cv axle are worned out so tomorrow morning I'm gonna change them both, hopefully I won't have to change even the other little shaft you're talking about..
Good luck my friend if you have the right tools take 2 maybe 3 hrs axle nut i believe is a 32 or 36mm.
@@TwiztedGamingNetwork i got everything set up and i mean i screwed them up cause they don't normally go at 57k but i do have a 2.8" level and i went running at 80km/hr off roading in the snow Lol...so this it's on me
Gotta add some background music man
I'm having issues here also, my 2010 sounds like I'm dragging beer cans behind the truck.
Sounds like brakes or possibly rear diff.
Sounds good, just got mine. Have to find the time to install it now haha.
Harbor freight doesn’t sell this 14 piece kit anymore. what a shame
AWESOME THINKING BUDDY!!! THIS IS GENIUS
Sounds clean bro
First comment 🤪
Ok
Thank you for sharing this information with us all. Here's an idea for anyone who will remove the shaft this way, wrap 2 hose clamps around the puller jaws on the slide hammer and tighten them around it and the axle and itll hold it all together for ya..
Ty for the input.
Great tutorial, I’m doing mine tomorrow.😉
Thank you for this vid! So much easier than tearing the front diff apart like everyone else says you have to. I wasn’t able to find the kit you used so I just welded a nut on the end and threaded my slide hammer into the nut and just like you 3 hits and she was out. Thanks again supper helpful video!!
No problem I'm glad it helped you.
Very useful information. You just saved me a lot of time trying to figure out how to get it out. This is a project I’ll be doing soon
Strong rubber band works to hold the slide hammer teeth together if you don’t have a clamp. Everyone’s old lady has hair electrics too. They work also lol
