I'm a new university lecturer in physics with electronics department and this is super helpful
Thank you for the detailed information you provide. Especially the invitation to a dinner time was marvelous.
When you do R&D work, do you want the researchers to create new jobs, advance and change humanity or do you want them to just publish papers? All this depends on the governments and/or independent funding bodies themselves on how you judge the output of the researchers' work.
Thank you for the video, it helped me clear up some doubts!
Output from physics should go to engineering, from chemistry to biology and engineering, from biochemistry to biology, from biology to medicine and from mathematics to theoretical physics, chemistry and computer science.
Its the accent for me 😊
How you prepare the interview talk (s)?
Finals week, posting grades, and preparing to cross the stage in Wales to receive my PhD. A busy two weeks!
❤
Great effort learnt a lot 👏
Hello maam, I genuinely want your guidance to achieve my dreams. Right now I’m doing under graduation here in India on political science. I further want to pursue my MA there in UK and want to explore the rich western theories and philosophy. Could you be a mentor please 🙏🏻 Assist me
Hello hello, now that Twitter is a zoo, do you recommend bluesky?
Thank you for making this video. I am an engineering lecturer, too. Sometimes, I easily get overwhelmed by my teaching load, assessments, attendance records, etc. So, at the semester's outset, the battery is 100% charged, but it quickly degrades and dissipates. How do I maintain a healthy and enthusiastic mindset in teaching?
Very nice and novel idea for a video, relevant to academics, great video thank you for it, Greetings
The third room really blurs the line between a teacher and a lecturer, and a classroom and a lecture hall. The second room is my favourite. Looks more comfy with more desk/writing space than the first room.
Yes I like the second room best!
Hi Caroline, how about you? I always enjoy your videos. Keep going on.
Mam how much does professors in Oxford University earn a year? Please reply. Thanks a lot.
A
Sorry about that, i hope you feel better. I had one class, and I just made it virtual on Zoom during that week. The students were very understanding as well.
Thank you, hope semester is going well.
So relevant! I just took my sick leave last week. Hope you feel better now 🤓
Arghh me too. Hope you are better as well.
Oh no - hope you feel better now.
Sorry to hear you were unwell. Great to hear you are doing better and thanks for this very useful and timely video. :)
Thank you!
Happy to know you are doing well now, we were waiting for the live, but happy with the video and to know that your doing well, take care for yourself, Greetings🌹🌹
Thanks!
The elephant in the room is the question: Why subject students to the rigors of formal assessment at all? Why are student activities marked, why are students "graded"? When did Universities become de-facto HR departments for industry? Universities should only be engaged in guiding student learning, instead, it seems education has turned into some sort of competitive sport.
Thank you Madam❤ respect from Pakistan 🇵🇰
I want to be a lecturer same as a employe..now I ama uni student and can I work employe as a lecturer?
How do you handle your classes? Reschedule?
In my case I knew the date of the conference in advance, so I could ask timetabling to avoid giving me classes on those dates 😀
I konow the redy me to uoy redy may admising you cret some weher you are car driver 😢🎉
Very nice description. During the busy semester, we do have a professional leaves for a conference. Can you share how we can manage the time and mood as a junior teacher? Especially, first time to go conference
A nice ‘behind the scenes’ vlog! 👍 Loved the food 🤤
Haha - yep I loved the food!
"Three days Diary of UK academic in a conference" 🏫🏫🏫- Lovely video, Greetings 👏👏👏
Your videos are very helpful.
It is really stressful for academics too! I always tell myself that i will prepare better during the summer. Never works....😂
Haha, yep there are always jobs left on my summer to-do list when next semester starts!
Greetings from Sweden. Thanks for this information.
Hi - thanks for watching 😀
Thanks for the video, thought late to comment, but I am happy to say that you predicted the future and now we all see how hybrid teaching is spreading and appreciate its importance, Greetings
Just wanted to know very off topic - when attending conferences what’s the dress code?
Can be really variable - from formal wear to relaxed! If you can, looking at conference photos from previous years can help see what people are wearing. In general, I tend to wear comfortable trousers/skirt, usually shoes or more formal trainer-type, a non logo top and always carry a blazer/jacket (smart and good for air-con rooms)! I also think that as long as I am neat and tidy, than the science I am sharing is the most important bit 😊
Thank you for sharing! 🤩I will start back lecturing soon after a long semester break
All the best for your classes 😀
I finished teaching my 1st lecture this semester today, and in the end the students applauded. I'm very touched...
Hi, what are the pros and cons? Can list up one by one? Thank you.
Great help
University positions like these vary widely from region to region, and also if it’s a public university or a private one. Here in the Pacific Northwest, a lecturer is literally just that: you come in and do lectures. You’re part of an instructional team. And you usually only have a Masters degree. So interesting how that is different in the UK! Also, in the U.S., if you have more than one Masters degree but haven’t started your PhD or Ed yet, but you’re teaching in Higher Ed, you’re called a professor. If you have your PhD or Ed, you’re called a Dr.
Great comment - thank you for sharing 😀
@@DrCST I really liked this video. It was really interesting, and informative, to learn the different levels over there in the UK. I follow several well known UK professors on Twitter and Mastodon, and this really helps me understand some of the nuances of their comments.
Thanks a bunch❤
I watched the video 2 years after its release, Keep progressing 👍, will keep waiting for 2024 review, Greetings
Thank you, you live was a relief in the middle of a stressful day 😍
HI, Useful video. How to apply directly for FHEA? Please advise
I'll start in 20 days and I'm a bit nervous. Thank you for this video 💗
Good luck for the class 🙂
I will like to get HEA Fellowship. I have Lectured for 7 years outside UK
Thanks for the video. A well-planned semester is crucial for a university academic staff member. Effective time management ensures that teaching responsibilities, research projects, administrative duties, and personal commitments are balanced. Careful planning helps to prevent burnout, maintain a high quality of work, and meet deadlines. By organizing tasks and setting realistic goals, academic staff can optimize their productivity and contribute effectively to the university's mission. Great video as usual, Greetings 😍
Boring
This was a really useful video for me. I am going to be giving training to field technicians in the telecommunications sector in Africa. I have never done any training or lecturing before and am very anxious about it. Your video gave me some good ideas for how to start my training sessions and get the nerves settled. I look forward to watching more of your content. Thank you :)
I hope the training went/is going well 🙂
@@DrCST I was still so anxious about the training. Even had a nightmare the night before the first training session. Then the most incredible thing happened, as soon as I started the training session there was zero anxiety. I used your technique of laying out the plan for the training session at the beginning of the training. Also used video to give myself a bit of a gap to refocus my thoughts and keep the class engaged. It was amazing, I can't describe the feeling of relief and elation I had after the first training session. Now that I know I can do it without anxiety I can start focusing on the quality of my lessons. Once again thank you for your wonderful video and the support. The world needs more people like you 😀
