มุมมอง 8Kปีที่แล้ว
Greetings in today's video, you will see 3 types of persimmons, Wonderful (an American persimmon), Fuyu and Saijo (both Asian persisimmons). I don't do much to these trees except water them in a drought and fertilize once a year.
California BrownTurkey fig in Charlotte NC
มุมมอง 3192 ปีที่แล้ว
This video is about the California Brown Turkey fig tree growing in Charlotte, North Carolina. It's very prolific and a dwarf tree. Figs ripen late in the year and are large! However, it is not that hardy. If temps drop too low, it will die to the ground and come back the next year. This is why a lot of fig trees in the Southeast are huge bushes and not your normal center leader straight uprigh...
Irene's Black Greek fig - To Die For Good!
มุมมอง 1.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
One day at the Charlotte Regional Farmer's Market, this lady named Irene told me about her black greek fig. I told her to bring me a cutting next weekend but I doubt the fig was true to its name. That night, I went to Meck County GIS and was able to pull records of Irene's house and her pervious owners and guess what? They were Greek! The next weekend, Irene came to the farmer's market dragging...

Awesome Celebrity Persimmon tree in Southeast
มุมมอง 6762 ปีที่แล้ว
My source is Cliff England of nuttrees.net. Here is notes about this persimmon from Cliff's website. The pulp is crystal clear with very little seeds. Has the texture of Kaki persimmon. Very hardy for my climate zone 8a. It is selected from the Jerry Lehman's crosses of Dollywood D128 X F58 male. Both are progeny of Miller and Early Golden. This tree comes from the Lehman breeding program.

This video is just a small glimpse of our 2021 fig festival at Milton Evans farm. It was so hot but everyone went home with at least one fig tree. The figs I blessed a few with were Irene's Black Greek, Smith, Desert King, Mega Celeste, and LSU Strawberry. The next fig festival will be in Chattanooga.

    I pee on my fig trees. Primates and fruit trees are strong symbiotes in nature; Humans have very low protein retention and not surprisingly our urine is very high in nitrogen.

    Who is eating all those figs? Do 90% of them just drop to the ground?

    Do you have to be a researcher to be granted access to the orchard?

  • @queencitygardener7109
    @queencitygardener7109 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nope they do not. They do fertilize and every 3 years, they provide liquid nitrogen. dj

    Hi, I was wondering if UC Davis amended the soil in the orchard? Or maybe you might know how they fertilize the trees. If you have any info on the soil in that orchard I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
