My first broken collarbone- surgery required
A broken collarbone is inevitable in bmx racing. I'm just happy I went so many years without it happening. It sucks to be injured at all but im very grateful it wasn't worse.
Thank you to everyone that has donated and offered to lend a hand with what ever week need in the next few weeks. its greatly appreciated!

I appreciate all of the support Bill Ryan has given me for all of these years and all of the people I've worked with at Supercross. This wasn't an easy decision but I feel like im at a point where I want to try and carve my own path. I might not even have a path and that's ok, im just trying to enjoy every moment.

a bmx love letter - my bmx diary

Sprints are an essential piece to the puzzle to be competitive in BMX Racing. Some people love them and other people hate them. I grew up hating them. No matter the variation of sprints, downhill, uphill, no hill, roller, box start, I hated them all, The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve learned to enjoy sprints and using them to get better. Some times it’s nice to just get out and pedal, even i...

Dude, I will second the comments below that you definitely did not fail as either a dad or a racer. You made moves where you could for both yourself and him, and you kept the attitude positive throughout. I strived to do that with my son the whole weekend while we were down there and it was NOT EASY. Being a positive force while keeping equipment in check for us both during 14 hour days for 5 days wasn't easy. And we even started with him having a MASSIVE crash on day 1 during ROC. But we did what we could as a family, and I see that same attitude of fun and positivity through this. We all sometimes don't snap the way we want, and some tracks jsut aren't our flow, but in the end we had fun and spent time with our kids; I'd argue that's a success in every measure. Keep the rubber down, dude, and maybe we'll get to ride if you hit up Land O' Lakes next year!

Awesome seeing your son out there having a blast. You’re definitely anything but a failure as a racer or a dad. Look forward to seeing you out there more next season. Not being on the track much dulls your speed & reaction time & a track like this exposes that. I suspect they’ll dial things way back next year following so many complaints & injuries. I totally agree with you on how tracks are made today, they make the damn rollers so steep and lippy that you have to work so hard to make a good lap, and that takes so much of the fun out of racing. It’s something I’ve bitched about for sometime. The tracks are always built for the top 5% of the racers who can get enough speed up to get the most out of the track. I feel that at all these cookie cutter tracks that 30% of rollers need to be taken out and have different obstacles than just rollers, they may bunch 2-3 together and call them doubles and triples but they’re still made from rollers. Track makers have no imagination anymore, it’s all the same no matter where ya race. Tracks are simply not fun like they used to be…and I love BMX so much, I’ve actually adapted pretty well and do pretty good at nationals, still doesn’t make me like todays tracks at all…nice video KJ…

There was a point in my life where I just felt empty inside and I just could not find motivation to push myself forward. Found myself in a very dark place and almost took my life. But through this dark time, I put everything aside and looked up to my Creator and over time and with support from friends and family, I put God first back in my life. Life didn't get better immediately, but I knew God would have to fill that emptiness in my heart. Over time, I found that motivation to, not only live life, but the motivation to set goals and work toward them. Now, for me, the key is continuing to grow my personal relationship with Christ - everyday. Not everyone likes to hear that, but I'm just sharing what worked for me. I hope and pray that you can find what works for you to spark that motivation in your life. Yeah, I'm an old bmx racer, too, at 56 years young and love racing my class & cruiser anytime I get the chance. God bless you brother. - Pastor Phil (Job 23:10)
