David told me this on our lesson a week ago 👏👏 , I have never felt more comfortable and confident over the short putts played 3 rounds since and haven’t missed one short putt 😊😊
Thanks John, after our lesson it gave me the idea for the video
good info
Brilliant, please enjoy my green reading video
Putting is a minefield . Im very much in the jordan spieth camp , anything over six foot and im either leaving it an inch out or its going in , inside six foot and im leaving it four foot past or two foot short 🙈 Hit an 81 yesterday with 4 doubles all of which were 3 putts from short , the up and downs balanced it out but i still came away thinking i need to master those 3-4 ft misses , especially if im there because of a bad read or over/underhit its very easy to be shaken and get over them without pause , I rely on up and downs in my game for a low card and for that you need confidence and discipline with a putter and a second putt 4 footer kills me every time .
Thank you for watching, I hope this video has helped. I have also recently done a video on making less 3 putts, here is the link - th-cam.com/video/lzvi-8K19FM/w-d-xo.html
A really good practical video David - thanks a lot. I lose so many shots from these situations and getting up and down more often would do wonders for my score. Your tips here are a big help. Thanks again.
Glad this was helpful, thank you for watching!
Love this series!
Thank you for watching.
Thank you👍
Thank you for watching.
it's amazing how many short putts we can miss. THIS lesson is exactly the reason. That right edge putt was me all day.
Thank you for watching - make sure you check out my other latest putting video - th-cam.com/video/lzvi-8K19FM/w-d-xo.html
Great tip
Thank you
excellent
Many many thanks
thank you for all these tips i am a senior and after seeing your tips it is so obvious it all makes sence and my handicap is getting better thanks again Allan
Thank you for watching my videos, more to come
Pro golfers trying to play like 18+ hc just doesn't work. They hit the ball cleanly every time just with different clubs..
Good putt and approach techniques. I am that 110 golfer and hit full swing my 9-110 yards, PW-100 yards, AW-80 yards, SW-70 yards, LW- 50-60 yards. Based on your lesson, I will now select for the 50 yard approach shot my PW with a narrow stance 1/2 swing instead of full swing LW. It wasn't clear what 2 clubs you used for your 100 yard shots with the wider stance.
Great video! Am 73yo, feeling 10 years younger and try to hit the balls as if I was 20 years younger - it doesn’t work! Hope to use your advice to score maybe in the mid 90th!?
Thank you for watching - hope these tips help!
Thanks David, this is great! I find that I take a lot less putts when I drop a spare club a couple of feet behind the hole ;) Seriously though, this is great. I broke 100 for the first time last week, so just the right level of things for me to think about. I think practicing around the green like you've shown is probably the best place to save shots, and I found judging putt strength the hardest part to start with, so you picked the right topic to start with putting drills.
Brilliant, next week ‘ How to Break 100, outside 100 yards’ goes out!
I’m a 20 handicapper. I play with players of 9 or 10 handicap. The only differences I between us is they hit it further but much more importantly, they never hit it fat or thin or duff a chip. I can be brilliant and useless all in the space of 10 minutes.
Biggest difference between higher handicappers and lower handicappers is the mind set. The higher the handicap the bigger they fear they will do it wrong. It sounds like you can hit the shot, next time you play focus clearly on what you want.
@@TheResourcefulCoach not true for me. No difference in my mindset compared to me playing partner.
Serious amount of golf wisdom imparted here. Reminds me of Paddys Golf Tips the way he breaks everything down. Thanks very much.
Glad you enjoyed it, please enjoy my other videos
As long as there’s no water around the green, I’d try to low draw a 5/6 iron around the tree…
Thank you for watching!
Excellent advice , thanks, a new subscriber
Brilliant, thank you, please enjoy my videos
I like that you emphasize that consistency is the key. Breaking 100 takes about an even balance between bogey and double bogey. So you don't have to be really good. So long as your are consistently OK, give yourself a wide margin for error, and set a fairly forgiving bar for success - as in just getting on the green within reasonable 2 putt range with your short game shots - then the score will take care of itself. One other big one, and I'm sure you will address this, is avoiding blow up holes. That's done by not following one mistake with another. If you put a ball into the trees, just punch out. If you have to take a drop, or take stroke and distance, just pay a simple shot you know you can play well, and keep going. Hold the damage down to double bogey most of the time. Eliminate those quads and worse. You can recover from double bogeys and still break 100. But take two or three quads, and the odds are against you. Follow mistakes with simple shots that you know will work, even if it leaves you a full shot or more short of where you normally want to be. Don't compound the problem. But I'm sure you'll cover that.😁
Thank you for watching! Look out for my next instalment of how to break 100 in the next week or so where I will be talking about avoiding 'blow up holes.'
@@TheResourcefulCoach :) I knew you'd cover it. :)
Love this sort of video, so much wisdom in this. Even as a golfer that is starting to break 90 regularly there are still some great points and reminders. I wish I'd learn to play from the hole back when I first picked up a club.
I always found the approach to break 90 was pretty similar to breaking 100. We're just executing it a wee bit better.
Thank you for watching!
@@seanbaines absolutely! Once you learn to pitch, chip and putt the rest of the game becomes about avoiding mistakes.... 2 triples on the back 9 meant o shot a 92 instead of 88 last night so there's always lessons to be learned!
I wish you’d been around 35 years ago, lol, I love the way you teach!
Thank you!
Nice emphasis regarding what we can realistically do with our 18-19 hcp.
Thank you, please watch the different areas of my ‘12 Shots of Golf’ to help you understand what is required throughout the game
Thank you David, when you released the video on the Power of the Pre-shot Routine I asked how you generated power in your swing. This tip on the wrist cock neatly addresses a key issue with my swing. Your concise approach to coaching is much appreciated.
Thank you for watching - I appreciate your kind words!
I like to try and use 'Course Management' with club choice etcetc, But every now and again i get urge to 'Grip it and Rip it'! 😅😢
Thank you for watching!
Great video, thanks! The short game is killing my score.
Please watch my videos on putting, bunker play and chipping to help improve your short game
Good reminder to play the course rather than let it play me.
Perfect, control yourself and you’ll see the results. Watch my 2 videos ‘Stop Playing Senseless Golf’ and ‘Turn at Each Hole ‘ to keep your mind in the right place
If I could hit all my shots nice and straight I wouldn't be struggling to break 90 in the first place!
Have a look at my Longer, Straighter Drives to help you
Man I’m glad I found your channel. You make more sense than 90% of the teaching pros I’ve ever seen. Thanks!
I appreciate that!
Great analysis and description. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your videos. They have helped me greatly.
Glad you’re enjoying them
Really good way to divide the green and analyse the break. It would also be useful to see how you assess pace. How you work with grain, time of day, slope and double breakers when reading a putt. From watching amateur golfers, especially 18hc and above, they seem frightened of the hole and often leave long puts way short which lead to 3 putts. I find your videos and explanations really informative. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
I mentioned in an earlier video comment how much you remind me of the Earnest Jones teaching. Last Saturday had a bad day playing Par. -14. (A friend did mention I was better than Shane Lowry as he was only -7) Watched this during the week, today playing stoke, one under my hadicap. Thank you David.
Glad your enjoying the videos and seeing improvement in your game
Hi David, as I've said before, loving this instruction. I love the emphisis on weight of the putt. I know plenty of people who try to putt through the break and I like to lag to a high point and let Newton take over. This is such a great demonstration of Newton.
Thank you for watching and your lovely comment!
Thanks, this is a great video. Does the same technique apply to the driver and fairway wood? Could you please make a video on it?
Yes, same technique for every club
I'll be using this drill. Thankyou
I am glad this has helped, let me know how you get on! Thanks for watching!
Yet again another extremely articulate demonstration.
Thank you!
Good analysis and technique.
Thank you kindly!
Thank you
Thank you for watching!
excellent
Thank you for watching!
Great tips! Very useful and clear instructions! Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Another great video David! Thank you so much for you help🏌
Dimitar, glad you’re enjoying the videos, good to see you a couple of weeks ago
@TheResourcefulCoach It is always fun to have a lesson with you, David. The way you clearly explain the tips and where we can go wrong is very effective. You deserve the best place with your videos in you tube, because you are very genuine and competent. Thanks again 🙏
Makes a lot of sense, thank you
You’re welcome, thanks for watching!
These are just really great, easy to understand lessons.Thank you David.
Thank you
That was not a tip - you just gave the most comprehensive description of the golf swing i have seen on u tube , i doubt anyone watching this and following will ever need another lesson .
Thank you for your kind words
I agree with sideways. Without slicing and hooks and water hazards anyone could bogey or par eve r y hole. Also this sounds very boring to me
On average when a player uses my ‘12 Shots of Golf’ data, they score 4-8 shots a round better. This is because they truly understand what’s required, controlling the ball to their level. Please look at my individual videos on each area of the game, use the data for your level, and see how it helps your game both mentally and physically.
All great until that stupid ball gets placed on the ground in front of me! Then it's focus on the "hit" as opposed to the "swing"! I guess the trick is to worry just about the swing, and trust that the "setup" (ball placement, stance, etc.) is such that the "hit" will occur?
Trust your fundamentals, and the ball will get encouraged down the hole
I like very much your coaching! tks for that! would be much better if you add a tracer to see shots trajectory!
Thank you for kind words. Early stages (5 months) of my TH-cam channel, so will be looking to add technology as I develop my channel
Now dribble 2 or 3 50 yards down the fairway.
Great encouragement and possibilities for scoring 90 and enjoying the journey! Thanks DY
Thank you, understand what needs to be done to break 90, and you’ll enjoy a much more stress free game
Lovely example of how a very good golfer plays some easy holes. But how many 18 handicappers never fluff a shot in 12 shots, or have to play holes that aren't straight, flat and wide open. Nice and realxing watching and maybe helps people not stress to much, but really not very informative.
Unfortunately the camera angle doesn’t show the difficulty of the course, which has a Slope Rating of 125.
Severely underestimating how many balls really yearn to get deep into nature and hang out with the squirrels
