    Your videos are very helpful. I’m trying to decide between a raspberry pi 5 and the N100. Are you going to do a comparison video between the two? Just from watching the individual videos you have on both devices it seems as though the N100 runs things like N64 and Game Cube games better. Would you agree?

    • @ArtisansAlliance
      @ArtisansAlliance วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you! The n100 is certainly more capable and out of the box comes more complete. N64 and especially GameCube are much better on the n100. N100 is less work overall to build a finished console. You can save a little bit of money with a raspberry pi 5 setup but it's not much. What the Pi has going for it is it's a project (if you're into that kind of thing). You have to put it all together, find or build a case, and make it your own. If you're looking for even more power, at about twice the price of an n100 the Beelink SER 5 pro/max are really good. They are an AMD chip and will get you into PS3 and Xbox 360 if that's your thing.

    No bios updates, no support whatsoever, but yeah cheap price. not very reliable seller, but really cool hardware, too bad its just another hardware pusher. without the support with bugfixes and bios updates, it's not worth it in the long run. also does not support low idle power draw.

    Your N64 performance issues are due to resolution and storage speed. You're above native, and likely using slow storage. It runs the entire library perfectly fine. A better test would be the various MAME 3D titles that only use CPU emulation of older GPU tech.

    • @ArtisansAlliance
      @ArtisansAlliance หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just went back and retested with 2 things suggested. I changed the resolution to 640 x 480 and using a high speed external USB 3 SSD drive. It didn't make any changes to the performance issues on the games that had performance problems. I think either the emulator isn't optimized fully for the Pi 5 or the Pi 5s GPU is too weak. Even though it's significantly better than the Pi 4 ... It's still a little low on power. I tested N64 because it was one of the systems that I really want to play, and that didn't play very well on the Pi 4, and the Pi 5 certainly did better than Pi 4.

It felt like you were never making eye contact and your eyes were scanning left and right noticeably. And that's included the SD card and probably a basic case. By then you are looking at $120...... Many people have complained that the Fan connector on the X4 is an extremely close fit... and even though i dont have an X4 to hand an good approach could be to first connect the fan "outboard" of the heatsink then rotate and flip the board over to attach it into the heatsink arrangement with the supplied stand offs and screws... So!! connect fan first then attach board and possibly not the other way around... also "finishing off" the thermal block or boss is potentially not an good idea as an high lustre "metallic" finish will likely radiate heat, take note the chip has an high finish this is to radiate heat away from its surface and removing the dull black powder coating on the Thermal boss will allow for radiant heat to radiate back onto the surface of the chip, even with an thermal pad in the way will this effect be likely to occur...also the wi-fi ariels with there soldered ends present an clear short circuit risk should they ever contact an live board therefore with there adhesive stickers an convienant space on the heat sink should be allocated to accommodate them...leaving them hanging freely is probably not an good idea either...The RTC battery pack also has adhesive mounts and the top of the Ethernet port looks likes an handy place to attach the RTC battery onto..
