What's the big idea? The primary message of Judges is that God will not allow sin to go unpunished. As Exodus established, Israel was God's people-He was their King. They had forsaken the covenant established at Mount Sinai.
One of the major themes of the book is Yahweh's sovereignty and the importance of being loyal to Him and His laws above all other gods and sovereigns. Indeed, the authority of the judges comes not through prominent dynasties nor through elections or appointments, but rather through the Spirit of God.
Judges demonstrates the fundamental problem of the human heart-when God's people forget His saving acts, they go after other gods. In the end, the book of Judges illustrates an eternal truth: in spite of our sin and rebellion, the Lord will continue to build His kingdom.ㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡ
