Safe travels brother 🙏
@@bigblockkings1031 thanks. We are in the metropolitan of Burns Oregon. Fueling up and get rolling again!!!
Why
@@MikeMueller-v6j road trip to Ca to check out some cool cars.
I'm on my second 56 chevy. This one has a straight axle along w/ a 671 blown sbc. From the PNW.
@@larrythompson7802 well that sounds cool. I would love to see it!!! Thank you for your comment.
The Hood Ornament -- Is "Its a Bird no It's a plane" ? Now before the the Cuckoos answer Bird, consider ...Would GM put a *Bird* on top of the hoods for Three Straight Years after Ford came out with the 55 Thunderbird?? lol Been trying to get Dan from DD Speed shop to reconsider that for years, but he has Never heard of Harley Earl. LOL
@@lloydgreen4091 Maybe it’s a rocket with wings. Maybe it’s a combo of a bald eagle and a jet plane? Could be a jet eagle? Maybe it’s a front hood wing to make the car go faster??? I mean it is chrome and we all know chrome makes it faster.
@@Jimmyjamesgarage it's a jet eagle.
@ sounds good to me.
The more I see your wagon the more I like it. Love that shifter. I have a plain shifter that looks like a standard. People think it is because I left the clutch pedal in it. I do have a little channel called Big Block Kings if you get a chance to checkout mine and my brothers cars.
@@bigblockkings1031 that 55 gasser is bad ass! I used to be a big block guy!
If I could I'd have to ask for the 56 belair sedan that my Spanish student teacher drove when I was in 7th grade.
Luckily I can still crawl under my 55 and my 39. Just recently bought a bigger better floor jack and nice large jackstands.
I need one or two of those magnet things.
I commented too soon. You put an LS in it and I won't like it. It's your car but I can't see those engines in an old school hotrod 😐
I walked in the garage yesterday. No gas leak but I found a flat tire on the front 😢
@@bigblockkings1031 thing tend to happen when we are not around. I think the cars know we are not around. Lol.
Somehow I missed this video. You have a good channel and I enjoy them.
@@bigblockkings1031 thank you. I am glad you enjoy it. I am going to try to keep the content coming and improving! Thanks again.
You should wait a month and review your polls after more people watch them. I missed a couple of those I think 🤔
@@bigblockkings1031 great idea.
More Booker T & the MGs please .
@@bobbrinkerhoff3592 for sure. I love that song. Just cool.
Ok now why didn't I think of that? Good one.
@ email me and I will mail you one! I have extra!!! Jimmyjamesbbq@yahoo.com.
I have a manual modern mustang can't wear boots driving it so advantages 9f autos u can wear fancy flamed cowboy boots which I use in my 73 mach1 mustang in Scotland
@@ham4008 well that’s great to know! Arriving is style in a Mustang you sure can’t show up in Tennis shoes!!! Gotta sport the boots. Good call.
@Jimmyjamesgarage starsky and hutch adidas blue suede is go to for morrisminor 4 speed 40s style pedals hinge on floor
@@ham4008 did Starsky and Hutch do the hood slide before Bo and Luke Duke.
@Jimmyjamesgarage best ones where professional tv show ford capri maybe u could see that u tube military police car show
I really don't think it will become a classic. There are very few people interested in old style appearing vehicles. When they first came out I thought they looked pretty decent but after driving a couple I don't think I would be interested in owning one.
@@BRIGGSMASTER63 fair enough. We had the 2011 for years. It’s a great little second car. It’s a zippy little thing.
@Jimmyjamesgarage overall I didn't see much wrong with them just the seat didn't quite fit my butt.🤣🤣
@ they are little for sure. It’s perfect for my Bride. She likes it and thats really what matters for sure. They actually have clubs and groups for them which actually shocks me. But I guess there’s something for everyone!!! Would be kinda cool to to put another frame under it and a blower out the hood. Lol.
@Jimmyjamesgarage a Chris Allison or even a home built chassis a big block Chevy and a blower...sign me up!
@ it then would be cool. For now it’s just our second zippy car.
Before cutting up your '55 , get someone with a gasser that you like the looks of , to take you for a ride , or better yet to let you drive it , you may have your eyes opened , I know that mine were . Back in 1981 I bought an old original '55 , 210 sedan gasser . Fiberglass , flip frontend , tube straight axle , Lakewood Industries three point roll bar , Olds rearend with ladder bars , and 5.57s , radiused wheelwells , and a black vinyl top . Set up for the 1/8mile , it had run a 331 with dual carbs and a four speed . Not only was it a handful on the street , but it rode like a log truck . Be careful of what you wish for .
@@bobbrinkerhoff3592 all great information. Been around them a lot. All said is true for sure. But they are still cool.
Also I am good at cutting up good cars. I have priors. Lol.
Mine drive very nice. I wouldn't have it any another way 😊
@@bigblockkings1031 maybe so , but was your's built in the mid sixties , using a 3/16ths wall straight axle from Lakewood Industries , with '40 Ford spindles and brakes , and mounted with hairpin radius rods , and a transverse Ford spring , and cross steered from the stock '55 box ? My headlights were over four feet off of the ground . It was rude and crude , and plenty of better handling cars have been built since . A friend offered to trade my '55 for his cherry '68 SS 396 Chevelle , and we both walked away happy .
@@bigblockkings1031 very cool.
Nice Job with sharing the results. That's a pretty good idea for a quick vid. I like it. My brother and I were lucky my Mom & Dad each had a Nomad so we each bought one from them when they wanted to thin down the garage. Hey! I'm going to try doing my first live tonight! Check it out! 615pm eastern time. Hope you have time to stop by. Have a good trip.
@@MadRattGarage ok will for sure tune in. Can’t wait.
Also it was a good way to get another video in plus I hope people like the recap.
Do you have shocks with your air bags?
@@luimorris745 yes. Stock shocks. They work great. On the front I made a bracket and used I believe 90’s Toyota truck shocks. But the stock shocks in the rear worked perfect!
Those are nice trucks! My daughter and her husband have one.
@@bigblockkings1031 we like ours. We hardly ever drive it. Sits in the garage 99% of the time it’s our second car.
Just a heads up, Chip Foose is rebuilding a ‘56 Nomad, dropping in a 572! Just saw it on TH-cam, I don’t know how to drop the link!
@@davekana8388 ok I will go check out the Chip Foose video on the Nomad. I have not decided on the actual logo yet. I am between 2 designs. This week on my Road trip I have a close bud I am going to be leaning about which design. Then I will for sure have stickers tee shirts. I am also going to have Tom Cat hand paint a sign for over the door of my shop.
Love stickers! Do you have one?
Good info! I may consider that set up on my Nomad. Nice job.
@@MadRattGarage it definitely has it place. Just for a lower horsepower application and want the ability to drop the car at the local cars and coffee shows it works extremely well. If I have a 600 horsepower stroker it may twist those leaves. All depends on the kinda car. I think it’s perfect on your nomad.
H H WONT .
@@jeffreyyeater1780 did you know they have a HHR group that does meet ups.
No it wont .
Ugly ass car
They won't survive long enough to be classic.
@@USA1-g9i I think it would be more of a lack of interest in cars. The car hobby is on its way out!

@@Godguygarage I sure will.
@@Godguygarage not sure how to message you. Email me and I will shoot you my phone number. Jimmyjamesbbq@yahoo.com.
I don't see why your setup wouldn't work well. Makes prefect sense. I almost went with coil springs and trailing arms from a mid 60s chevy pickup on my 55. I like them low and I like them high gasser style.
@ I totally agree. I have I am thinking a few thousand miles on this setup and it works great. Maybe a little less miles. Not totally sure. We trailered the cars to a ton of car shows and Cruises last year all over the west coast. Drove it on the freeway side roads and all over. I drop that car almost every stop because I like it low when it’s parked. Just looks cool. As for gassers they are my FAVORITE! I want to put a straight axle in my 55.
Aren’t they based of the 50s suburbans?
@@RydderJFallis yes they are. The PT Cruiser was also. They sure look a lot like those old suburbans. It’s a great car my Bride loves it.
Or your MOM!
Those high dollar fancy rod ends have a nasty habit of breaking when you least expect it . They were not designed tor that kind of use , or to be ignored daily . You won't catch me running heim ends on the street .

I am a big fan of airbags on leaf springs. I had basically the same setup on my 57 Chevy. And honestly it rides like a dream. I do run a different suspension setup on my drag car but that's a different use vehicle.
@@BRIGGSMASTER63 I totally agree. My 55 has a 9” and caltrac bars. This for a cruiser works very very well.
