I have a few reels with this set up that little spring is fun to find had to sweep my floor to find one that went flying 😊

Thanks for watching! Thankfully, I've only had the spring fly out on me, but you're right, trying to find it is no fun.

I own three Okumas - one is an ultralight I got in a reel lot and two are bait-feeders. The last one I got was an Okuma Avenger ABF 80b that I use for surf fishing. I use it to drift out finger mullet on a fish-finder rig for bull reds and black drum. Have you ever used Super Lube synthetic grease. It is a white translucent grease that works particularly well on all my vintage saltwater Mitchell spinning reels. I have 351 mostly vintage spinning reels in my reel collection. I usually don’t take apart the rotor and bail assemblies every time I service my reels unless they need it. You are so fast. I know you are editing the video but even so - you are fast! - Chris

Thanks Chris! I don't always take apart the rotor assembly either if it's my reel or one that I serviced recently.... it just doesn't need to be done that often if the reel gets washed down properly after use. However, I'll usually oil the line roller bearing throughout the year.
I've never used Super lube, but as long as it works....
Wow! That's A LOT of reels.... I know a guy in Texas that has something like that number in his collection.
This new video recording and editing structure is VERY long, but the actual reel service on this reel, including cleaning, took about an hour or so.... plus, I think the new format makes for a better video.

Great tutorial but why no grease on the main shafts? The other thing is that on the side cover there is a raised edge which the oscillating system runs on. I grease that also. Nevertheless an excellent channel. The way you do the Okuma anti reverse is very good.

Thanks for watching and the love! I rarely grease the main shaft anymore. The buildup of grease at and in the pinion shaft can create a choke point.... makes the reel needlessly sluggish... almost vacuum-like. Regarding the raised edge that the block rides on, yes, I could and usually do grease them if they're on the wider side... nonetheless, it never hurts to add some there. Thanks again. Hit the thumbs up and spread the word about the channel.

I hope you will take this without offense. I don't like this method you used here of quick edits. It gives too much information without time to process it.

None taken. I get it and understand that some wouldn't. However this is my goal... shortening the length, as one can always pause or replay any section of the video they want. That being said, it's still a work in progress when it comes to balancing the speed of dissemination with the ability to retain and apply.
