Reb's Cozy Gaming
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 4 ต.ค. 2011
Hello and welcome to my channel. I enjoy playing cozy games like Animal Crossing, Story of Seasons and Wylde Flowers. For this channel I mainly focus on creating Animal Crossing and Happy Home Paradise home designs. I find it really relaxing to design vacation homes for the different villagers, and I hope you find my builds relaxing to watch. I also do a Wylde Flowers series as I play through that game, as well as other cozy games. The speedbuilds feature background music to accompany the energy of the build. My video game series like Happy Home Paradise, Star Sky, A Short Hike, Another Code and Wylde Flowers have no voice commentary, with some having occasional text commentary, for a cozy and relaxing viewing experience. Videos with voice commentary typically include ACNH and HHP tours as well as my Story of Seasons series.
Up and Down Design Challenge with @ItsmeCarraleigh - Designing a Cozy Winter Home for Bruce

Welcome to a special Happy Home Paradise episode. In this video, I participate in a challenge created by It's Me, Carraleigh called Up and Down Design. The idea is that we each work with the same basic layout and theme to each design a floor for a villager's vacation home in Happy Home Paradise. I design the upper floor and Carraleigh designs the bottom floor using the same basic layout. Watch our videos and find out how our designs turn out! Maybe they'll have certain things in common, or maybe they'll be very different visions of 'cozy winter'!

I love these challenges! Great job, Bruce has a very cozy winter home! Great build as usual!💜💜
@@NanaAGaming812 Thank you! It was a fun challenge 😊
Very cozy! The green argyle rug is one of my fave items in the game, you did such a good job!
@@JusMe73 Thank you! 😊
Fun snowy theme! It was fun seeing a few things that we chose the same, and of course little touches like the tree’s bounty tree and the slippers that I never think of! I liked your use of the little side room too. Yay for Bruce with two cozy options for winter 😊 ❄️
Thanks! Bruce will be super cozy for sure! 😄
I love Marcel. You did a great job with his spa outside and his bathroom I really like the Aurora wall Paper. How you put the tables on either side of the golden bathtub looks really cool.

You're welcome @@RebCG
How do I get all those extra Variety tabs? I still have only my basic set of 20 or so patterns, even though I have done 60+ HHP vacation house builds. If I need 100 or something please tell me, because I don't know if I will ever do that many. Most of my tiny islands are already occupied, so maybe it is time to add roommates that likely will not credit me for more builds. I am not trying to overload my islands except for my childhood memory builds that are all on the same flat boring land plot. Cliffs and bridges would much subtract from the authenticity of those builds. And how can I add snowmen to the lawn? When I was growing up, children built snowmen. Now we get a little snow, and all the children are inside where it is warm playing video games? Oh wait, maybe they are building *snowmen in video games* where I can not see outside the beauty of snow-people?
@@yosefmacgruber1920 Press the right stick to get the variety tabs. The three-tiered snowperson is a DIY item you can build with snowflakes and tree branches. I wonder how many video games have snowmen that the player can build.
@@RebCG The tabs are not available. I do not have all those dots at the top. No indication that they are there. It only gives me the one. I must not have that snowman recipe yet, but I seem to be getting the knack of building "perfect" snowmen and have around 10 large snowflakes. Well we know of at least one video game. So finally it will be possible to have a snowman that does not melt in a few days? How many video games let you catch a snowflake and keep it in your pockets or storage, and it does not melt in the summer? How many video games let you build a Rubik's cube out of an umbrella?
They are so cute!💜
@NanaAGaming812 I think so too 💜

Somehow I am finding it hard to believe that a hamster needs his own movie studio. Hasn't he been running around long enough, time for him to go back into his cage? Whatever gave him such big ambitious dreams? Gee, isn't the extra-sized cage with an extra hamster wheel, isn't that enough? I do like the choice of the movie set. Somebody needs to do a _Star Trek_ island. I think I had a hamster on my island, but he finally left. I guess I would have to go through my list of Posters that I can order, to refresh my memory what his name was.
@yosefmacgruber1920 It wouldn't surprise me if there are several dream addresses featuring a Star Trek themed island.
@@RebCG Well I do not have Nintendo Online, and I have actual chores that I ought to be doing, not too much playing video games all day, so I have to rely on you all to do videos of your dream island visits. Well at least I finally paid for HHP, but I have not been doing a whole lot there, as most of my little islands area already filled up. I still have 2nd floors awaiting roommates to be added, but I am feeling kinda burned out, not trying to rush it anymore. Yesterday I finally got around to creating my Rubik's Cube umbrella, it came out pretty good. Quite the challenge trying to distort straight lines, even among diagonals, to compensate for the weird curvature of the umbrella. I thought about why didn't I do a 2x2x2 cube, or maybe a 4x4x4 Rubik's Revenge cube? Or the supposedly-impossible 7x7x7 cube, that actually is a bit spherical, due to complexities of making the invention actually work. Well the standard cube probably is best, as there are only but so many pixels to play with, and often small objects in video games are supposed to be "icon-ized", made ridiculously simple metaphors for the object being represented, because too much complexity makes it hard to recognize what it even is supposed to be. I decided to do a "mostly solved" cube, because few cubes are actually solved, and by having just a couple of turns away from being solved, I could then show all 6 colors, it avoids being too simple, and I could conveniently avoid the mathematical puzzle of detecting if the cube actually is impossible to solve. As if somebody took off stickers and put them back on but in the wrong places. I have yet to see anybody having done a Rubik's cube in ACNH. Have you seen one? BTW, it makes for a very colorful actual-umbrella, but my characters generally do not bother carrying umbrellas.
Reb, I love how you decorated her yard it reminds me of the ocean floor. Love the inside, too, reminds me of a cozy apparent in the sea
@@shilosgamingcorner Thanks Shilo, that's the look I was going for with the outside. 😊
ACNH does storms so much better. I hear that "angry" howling wind, yet those are some sturdy trees, as they are not swaying at all? I know, it is not easy to properly animate a video game. If I lived in that fictional world, I might be inclined to be superstitious, as that storm sounds "angry". I think that I will never get used to those 30-minute "days". But at least SoS does not interrupt you in the middle of every project with a pesky treasure floating balloon. Only to get a few nearly-worthless iron nuggets. And not something new to add to my catalog.
@yosefmacgruber1920 I prefer the storms in ACNH too.
@@RebCG I prefer no rain, no storms, no awful weather at all. No frigid snow. I should move to somewhere where I never have to see snow. However, if there must be bad weather, better on my island than in real life. No fear that the roof will leak, and it does not even make me get out an umbrella. Of course if the island was real, it would be underwater at every storm surge or high tide. No wonder Tom got such a deal on the island? SoS looks like it is "trying too hard". ACNH storms seem so much more natural. I thought that SoS might be an alternate cozy game to ACNH, with bigger brighter buildings, but its severe lack of customization leave me disappointed. I guess there is no game like ACNH? I wonder how in ACNH they put all that snow on the ground? Do they have alternate 3-D models for every rooftop and bridge and fence? That would be a lot of extra programming work, unless it is just an added snow layer? And then so many of roofs that have to have optional snow, have different shapes. It is a wonder that the Mario Pipe actually can transport to inside of a house. Because the "house" level is not loaded when you are outside. So the game could have said, "I do not see a 2nd Pipe." Some programmer must have thought to keep track of which house "levels" have a Pipe inside, so that it would work and load the correct level. As I have dabbled in programming, I notice some small details that so many people miss. In the PS2 video game _ICO_ I thought I would be clever and "cheat", well that was after playing through and winning the game actually. There is an area where you first go through the top of the cave, then later through the bottom, both areas visible, but only your level reachable. So I jumped off of the path edge down to the water way below. Falling into water, not a fatal fall, good so far. Then I soon found, that the switch that I had to activate, there was no way to reach it. Found a pipe to climb back up. But later when I was down below, I tried climbing that same pipe, and the pipe collapsed and tossed me back into the water. Aha! Those programmers are so smart. They already thought of my little trick, and successfully blocked it. Which would be better than the trick working, then the game glitching or crashing, making the programmers seem not quite so smart. And on any of the YT play-throughs that I have watched, I am not aware of anybody discovering that little easter-egg or trick. In fact, most players seem unaware that often you do not have to fight the shadow creatures. If Yorda can reach the idol gate, which only she has the magical power to open, lightning bursts of energy fly out and fry whatever shadow creatures that may still remain. What a nice short-cut, and yet hardly anybody seems aware of it? Much easier to lead her to the idol gate, many times, than to waste time fighting the creatures.
Really love how this came out!
@@crispycrafts1520 Thank you!
Nailed it! Enjoy, Freckles! Another great video!

How do I unlock the multiple tabs of Variety? Why do I have only the basic tab, after doing 60+ HHP vacation homes? Are there any other games besides ACNH that allow me to build most anything that I can imagine? Other games do not even seem to come close? I built a bunch of childhood memory homes, funny that the villager was not having it, when I tried to build my Dad's old detached garage, barely a 2-car garage with a car and a fishing boat/Yacht in it, and then when I tried to add just a few garage things, like he must have kept the lawn mower somewhere?, the villager thought it was cluttered when I left but only 1 square to stand in. "But that is the best that I remember it!" It is not like I can make the car or boat bigger to match? So I had to boost it from 4x4 to 6x6, but still left it "cluttered" in the center 4x4. I always build my vacation homes to be 10x10, the principle of the thing, why would I want to live in a hut if I can have a mansion instead for the same price? Except for my memory builds, as "authenticity" then is the bigger factor, so a few rooms had to be downsized to match their actual size. Or if the house is too long, then I put the other end of it, upstairs. My other room was his basement, have fun building that when I was but a child and rarely ever went down there. Well the Oil Barrel could be a water heater and the Upright Locker does kinda look like a gas furnace when turned around backwards and set to the boring gray/silver color. I think I used some Tool Cart to represent his table saw. Of course I did another whole build to be his old house. Used the Stair Dresser to be the stairs. Well duh? Looked better than my flat Train Tracks custom pattern and indicates which direction is "upstairs". I wish we could get another major update to ACNH, to add some of the cool items that seem to still be lacking. Like wall-mounted electrical boxes, sort of what I might expect to see in the video game _Half-Life._ The basement "nuclear reactor" from the old NES game _Maniac Mansion._ Water heater, electric heater, furnace, more actual factory stuff. Well at least I finally was able to spend some poki to buy the Robot Arm, but my factory is so small that I only used the one Robot Arm after I removed a couple of Meter and Pipes for to clear a little space. In fact, I think that is what I put into my Dad's basement for the gas meter, since I sure do not remember there being a gas meter outside anywhere. I think that really was a thing, they used to be in people's basements.
It's interesting how people use different items so creatively to recreate a personal memory or a scene from a movie, etc. We shall see what the future holds for the next Animal Crossing game, whenever that comes out. I don't think there's any game quite like it.
@@RebCG I find it amazing how people build just about anything on their islands. Nintendo seems to not realize that they need to do some tweaks to improve that. How about a standee with no holes in the top? Why can't I assign the flag I drew of an actual country, to Resident Services and the airport? Is that not a "flag" even though it is a flag? It will only accept custom patterns. I have already used up all of my custom patterns, but have still plenty of the Pro Designs to make standees with. I thought maybe it would not accept my flag, because maybe I actually have to have a flag already? Yet creating a flag, made no difference. It turns out to be a very tiny flag, designed mainly for my character to hand-hold. But so many 3-D models that the game lacks, people just download or draw themselves the custom patterns needed. And it encourages me to be more creative and just draw whatever that I need. We also need a Simple Panel, that does not repeat the design on both the top and the bottom. That really messes up people's faux doors. They have 3 handles rather than just 1? Sometimes I see people manage to somehow hide the bottom portion. The ACNH game does many things well, a lot to find in just one game. it plays about 100 songs. It has an incredibly number of fossils, art pieces, fish and sea creatures, and bugs. It does day and night and weather and seasons. I love how it tracks the time and seasons of the real world. That clocks show the actual real world time. It observes many holidays, but strangely seems to have omitted Independence Day of the USA. If we could simply have multiple islands, like in HHP, I think quite a lot more people might attempt designer islands. But I do not want to flatten my island to do so. I did like though, in HHP, that my nephew can have his own HHP. I visited with my #2 human character, and nothing has been built yet, other than just the minimum that I had to do to get the app onto my Nook phone. I wanted to be able to see the islands map. That also works with the Photopia building on Harv's Island. No game is quite like it? Not even _The Sims_ ?
This game looks like way too much work. Hence, I watch you play it for us.
The game has quite a lot to do! Thanks for watching.
@@RebCG Why was Episode 21 so short? Do I need to watch it again? I was busy doing something, out of the room during part of it. I wonder why am I still selling agriculture to earn bells in ACNH. What am I supposed to be able to do with 27 million bells? But certain rich people such as Current President Trump, do not just quit working when they become "rich". Not if they love their "jobs" or projects. But work in ACNH is more fun. And gives me an excuse to spend time on my island. Supposedly ACNH is far more customizable, but is it really when my island is already built? I still can not seem to figure out where I plan to place my next faux building when I get my next Pyramid to use as a roof-cap. I seem to mainly check in, in hopes of finding another cool item for sale at either Nook's Cranny or HHP, but what even is left that I do not have yet? The rolls of toilet paper? Will it take me 30 years to get the last fish that I need to complete the fish wing of the museum? Will I ever get all of the bugs? I somehow goofed and sold the last sea creature, and failed to donate it to the museum. But it did not take too terribly long to catch another. Now I don't seem to catch it anymore, but that could be that my incentive to dive for sea creatures has diminished. Whatever for, to get more miles, when I have plenty of miles already?
About the only "budgeting" required in this game, is "delayed gratification". Because there is no taxes to make people poor, no inflation, no utility bills, you can afford it all, but not right away. So what are your priorities? Teamwork, moving all of my 8 characters into fully-expanded mansions, but not so much getting the maximum storage space nor paying back Mr Nook, since he is so patient about that. I found the big money maker to be agriculture, but then as the need for income declines, I could replace much of my agriculture with my humongous and expensive castle. Now that I finally have HHP, that income also has dried up, having burned out with my vacation home builds, but then there is not much there to buy anyway. Just over a million poki. I decided to do childhood memory builds, all on the same flat plot of land, so no use of stuff like Spaceship Control Module nor a 50-inch TV, because we did not have stuff like that back then. More like TV with VCR or retro TV. I have only a few HHP island plots left, and once they are used up, I should probably go back and add roommates to my mostly-unused 2nd floors. Now I am about run out of childhood memories to build. My strongest human character has about 27 million bells, and nobody of my max 8 human characters has less than a few hundred thousand bells. I kinda missed one of my original villagers, Faith, so while she is not welcome to move back to my island, because she will just have the same home decor, when I saw her at HHP, I thought, "Why not give her a vacation home, then she at least will always be there?" Well I haven't finished it yet, just gave her some of the musical instruments that she wanted, and tossed a Wood-block Clock onto the wall, that I remembered that she had, I will arrange her stuff later on. She has a Scooter outside, as I recall her talking about her old "biker" days. Closest thing in the game it seems, to a motorcycle. I am glad that I invited Henry back earlier on, because my little nephew remembers Henry the green frog. Just over half my villagers' homes have been remodeled by me, however I try to keep to their original theme of what they supposedly "like". I try to get them a few essentials such as a toilet or a sink, so that they do not have to go outside to the bathhouse every night. But something seems to always be left out, because the combo of a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom, just doesn't quite seem to fit into a mere 6x6 hut especially if I want to preserve their original theme. When my villagers get the itch to leave and explore the world, I usually just let them leave, so that I can open a vacancy to get another villager so as to see what that villager's home decor looks like. I have given Henry a half bath, just crammed into his decor, but his vacation home has 1 and a half bathrooms. I had invited Henry back again, because I needed a test as to whether they come with the same old decor again or not, and he has such a nice kitchen. When I remodel their homes, I tend to turn off their music, and to instead install a Pendulum clock or a Cuckoo Clock, so that when I want to take a nap, I can just leave my character in their house and hear the clock chime on the hour. If I could somehow buy my villagers house upgrades, I would. Not like I can fit any more bridges or inclines onto my island. What else am I to do with all those bells? Buy another island? How many bells does it take to buy another island? Right now, it is still a mystery to me, where will I squeeze in my next faux building, if I can just get a 3rd Pyramid from those pirate birds? I see on some people's designer islands, that Pyramid makes a nice roof-cap. I had a place but got tired of waiting and used the Retro Transportation Stops along with more panels, to add a 2nd floor and rooftop. What sort of building has wood panels, one of the customization choices for the Simple Panel, and *no windows?* Would that be the island's Sauna building? Well at least I have no means of doing an interior for that faux building. Also no means to paint a name for the building onto its facade, like I did with my other faux buildings.
Wow! Such a cool dragon’s lair! Loved seeing that wall and floor that don’t get used too often. Superb build! 🤩
@@ItsmeCarraleigh Thank you! I was pleased to be able to use that wallpaper and flooring! 😊
😅
I love Drago's yard and house you did a great job. I really love Drago he was on my first ever island he reminds me of stitches
@@shilosgamingcorner Thank you!
You're welcome @@RebCG
What a lucky dragonn. Such a beautiful house full of all the treasures he could ever want! Drago is such a cute dragon that's for sure.
@@Princess_of_Pineapples He seems like a sweetie! Thanks for watching! 😊
What a sweet & cheerful build. I enjoyed it so much😊 Tyfs Reb❤️
@valgal72 Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed.
So festive and cheery!🎄 Your videos inspire me as I learn to decorate in-game, especially your use of pillars and partitions. Always relaxing and enjoyable to watch❤️
@valgal72 Thank you! Glad my videos offer some inspiration. 😊
my favorite part is looking back at the library of videos that I have and seeing how much i improved. i hope i can continue to make more video next year 😆
@KcHecKa Yep, I think I have improved too - kind of a double-edged sword because I sometimes look back on the early videos and think about how much they could be improved...but I think it's all part of the creative process. 😊
How do you "improve" in this game? My island is full-up, and I have used up all my custom patterns. I only have standees, flags, and umbrella faux boxes that I have not even tried doing that last trick yet. Standees were very convenient for adding my faux buildings that need a facade. I do not see myself doing a real designer island like other people who share theirs.
This is a nice video
@@FuzzyDovely Thank you!
What a cool video! I really enjoyed this one. Your insights are invaluable!
@@dumbstruckempire Thank you! 😊
@@RebCGAnd I'll say it one more time, because I don't want to make it weird, but while I really love the peaceful videos with just music, you have a fantastic voice and style when you do choose to speak.
@dumbstruckempire Thank you! I appreciate your encouragement!
Blep is looking very pretty in the snow! I am so glad I started my channel as i got to meet you and so many wonderful people! Great tips! 💜💜
@@NanaAGaming812 Thank you! Your channel is great! 😊
Your island looks beautiful. I was inspired to start a youtube channel from watching crossingmaniac and SimulationFluffy. I found that for audio, I use the voice recorder built in my phone, and I use an app to convert the W4a files to mp3 and edit on my phone. I'm really glad I found your channel through the Crossingmaniac channel. You always have great videos, Reb. You're very creative and always fun to watch.
@shilosgamingcorner Thanks Shilo! Great that your phone can provide those tools for your videos!
You're welcome @@RebCG
First of all Blep is looking great! I have enjoyed my journey on TH-cam. I will say that when I started I did it as an outlet also to share my love for ACNH. I just kinda kept adding from there. This has been the most enjoyable process. I have met you and so many other wonderful people. I think your advice is spot on do what you are comfortable with, Thanks for the video!
@Crossing-Maniac Thanks! I have been decorating it for the Frosty Nights challenge! Glad you enjoyed the video and are having fun with your channel! The Crossing Crew is a great community 😊
@ thank you so much i appreciate it. I love your videos and your channel.
@Crossing-Maniac Thank you!
😅 don’t think any of the villagers understand pants lol
I agree with Kitty 😅 tea is always so much better when made by someone else lol Sherb! He was my first lazy villager & he’s become one of my all time favorites ❤︎ never leaving my island. Keep forgetting I have HHP, really should make a vacation home for him 😅
@@Rementine Agree about the tea! 😄 I haven't had Sherb on my island before. He seems pretty charming! 😊
Wow lol Cube was surprisingly deep 😅 the lazies are definitely my favorite villager type
@@Rementine Cube left me speechless 🤣
Could you talk to the teacher too? Cute video though hah really gotta play my HHP
@@Rementine Yes, I've got Deirdre as the teacher. I'll have to chat with her in a future video. 😊
Great video! Every time I watch your videos, I say I'm going to play this game! If only there were more hours in the day!😏💜
@NanaAGaming812 There are several games I think the same thing about but I hope to get to them eventually. 😊
What a lovely spa, it really has everything you could ever want! How much for a little relaxation time at Flip's vacation home? xD
@@Princess_of_Pineapples I'd certainly want to spend some time relaxing at Flip's! 😊
Hello, I bought Animal Crossing yesterday, how do I play the DLC? (I bought the DLC)
That's great! I hope you have fun with the game. If you've purchased the game with the DLC then at some point early in the game Tom Nook will contact you and introduce you to an NPC named Lottie. From there you'll be guided through a tutorial and information about getting started in the game.
