He's back!! Let's go baby, still one of the best in the game Ben. Excited for Good Juice!
I’ve so missed your reviews.
Let's do this!!!
🙌
I hope you are back in front of the camera, I missed your whisky content
Arrived home from work, seen your teaser, turned what was a pointless night at work into a hurry the hell up 2025.
Let’s fucking go 🎉
a legend returns…
This is exciting. I am looking forward to this!
Even more excited for 2025 now! 🥃
Nice! What whiskys did you enjoy this Christmas? I tried the new 10 year from Scapa, pretty good bottle.
Cold filtration never mattered to me personally. Cheers!
I’ve been in 2024 and I got the same and it’s a nice drink like
In Ontario Canada the 12 is currently $100 the 15 is currently 170 Canadian
I tryed macallan 12 sherry oak last week and its a best whiskey i had in my life🤷♂️
Thank you, great advice
Just for Information the Talisker Skye is on offer at Amazon UK for about £28.
It's an oddly long video to not actually say anything or stand by any factual information.
Im afraid I would disagree with you there. Firstly, I explain what the actual definition of chill-filtration is. That's a fact, not an opinion... and a succinct one at that. Secondly, I explain why distilleries chill-filter. These are literally facts, as explained by the distilleries themselves, including the scientific explanation of which compounds are filtered. These are, once again, just facts, backed by science. Thirdly, I include demonstrations of the interaction of water in the whisky, at different ABV's, describe the results, and then explain the scientific reasoning behind those results. Next, I go on to present the actual effect it has on the whisky from a taste perspective. You could argue that this is opinion as there is no objective measure of someone else's experience of taste, but I never present my experience as fact, as I stated at 4:49. Lastly, I offer my personal opinion, which makes up less than 20% of the video, which is fundamentally what many of almost 4000 subscribers watch my channel for. Personally, I feel this conveys a fairly large amount of information in a relatively short video.
Well done! Very Informative, Thanks 😊
All great choices. When I want a real blast of peat for a day-to-day dram, I swing between Wee Beastie and Laphroig Quarter Cask. Port Charlotte is awesome but very difficult to acquire where I am (Ontario canada). I was introduced to Ledaig by Gordon & Mcphail on a pre-pandemic visit to their store in Glasgow. A 12 yo single cask that blew my mind for about £43 (at the time). So many great Islas - and agree with your Caol ILA comment - I love it, and the IBs are awesome
Owner of Bimber in Prison, being extradited to Poland on alleged murder charges and living in uk under a fake name and passport - plus charges may follow re drugs and trading standards as to which country the whisky was really made in
I liked the old talisker 10 (old label blue) allot. New label are not as good. I love the normal skye more soecially with a drop of water. And for the more smokey ones I rather drink kilchoman sanaig.
Have you tried the Thirty year old match 1. This? Was the first batch of 30 he released when he purchased The distillery
Bro, I love your description of the different notes and sensations of your tests. Makes me dive into it as you speak.. bravo 👏 👏 . I'll be seeing more of you. Love the smoky ones! Beautiful!! 👍🥃🥃
Bedankt
Recently found a small local (to me) convenience store that carries Benriach - The Smoky Twelve. Highly recommend you have a taste!
Thanks. Agree with every word of that. Skye is OK but a bit lightweight with no finish worth talking about. 10 is the daddy.
People need to stop focusing on chill filtration, like it completely ruins the whisky for some. Rediculous.
I would put Oban 14 up the top, followed by Lagavulin 16 followed by Bunnahabhain Eirigh NA Greine followed by Port Charlotte followed by Bowmore 18 then Kilchoman, the Laphroig PX. I havent tried Ledaig or Benraich so may adjust after trying. From a value for money whisky for me it has to be Deanston 12 & Clynelish 14 (yes I know they aren’t Islay)
Thanks for sharing. Very good tips 👍
I raised a dram with you. Enjoy the journey.
Just bought this kit for my wife and the website no longer exists which is a shame 😢. Any tips apart from what you already mention would be great
Top work
Beautiful video. This is soooo good.
Ardbeg Wee Beatie was smoky/peaty BUT raw and hot when drinking. I'm happy to have experienced it but I much more prefer Port Charlotte 10 and even Famous Grouse Smoky Black.
I tried a sample of the port wood finish side by side with the 12. The 12 demolishes it. I did not care for this one really. I don't get the hype.
It's a good cask driven whisky that absolutely hides the distillate behind the over the top wine casks. I like it for what it is, but nothing amazing here.
Really disappointed I missed this live, fascinating stuff and something that needed to be done on English Whisky! As for the G.I., Vin makes a great point on the fact that whether its Non Chillfiltered or Natural Colour, that information should be made compulsory for all English Whisky products, while you've still got the chance to do so with the G.I. and the regs for English Whisky. The fact that Diageo is now heavily involved in at least one English Distillery, makes me think that this will not be on the agenda now. Which is hugely disappointing for me, and a big opportunity missed, with a chance to offer a point of difference to Scotch and Irish.
What a fantastic rountable, gutted that I missed this! Fantastic hosting Ben, cheers mate and brilliant conversation. Rob is from the industry but he feels like one of us, in the game for the love of it. You can feel the passion from him and this was a joy to watch. Cheers fellas 🥃
Missed this live - dont know why. Cotswolds Distillery is fairly local to me - ive visited at least 3 times - great cafe as well as brilliant tours (the founders tour with Dan is amazing). The whisky they produce is simply fabulous.
Sorry missed this (Menno & I were live at the same time on my channel, we had no idea about it) but will watch the replay asap as I love some English whisky (Cotswolds & Spirit of Yorkshire being my favorite so far), though we can find barely only 4 different distilleries products here in France, Cheers !
Loved this live! Speaking of Independent, I found Cotswolds via SMWS and went out and purchased Founders, Sherry and Peat OB - I really love the brand. Hunting for Bourbon aged and a backup for Founders.
Fantastic stream lads. Waiting to see if Daddy Diageo take your advice and act!
Really interesting to hear the thoughts on Cotswolds being in supermarkets and the cons associated with it as it's been great for me to be able to grab a bottle off the shelf in Belfast from Sainsbury's but it has given the company great exposure in my market. I've been through several bottles of the signature and enjoyed all of them.
Should have added my thanks to Ben for hosting and to Rob for his honesty and insight
Sorry: Greg & Menno 'did a bit of a Roy' (!), so it took me a while to get back here and watch this. I had a quick look at my spreadsheets and I've got 37 English bottles at the moment, including 2 Cotswolds (plus I've still got some left in their younger-than-whisky taster pack), 5 from Adnams (although one is a whisky-adjacent eau de vie de bière) and 3 Oxford ryes.
Found myself sitting back and getting lost in this great chatter around English whisky. Cheers Ben for hosting 🥃
I love all of my Bimber bottles... 😊
I like peaty , smoky whiskies like lagavulin 10 and 16
Good for you mate! I am very keen to see the beautiful works that you craft going forwards.
who wants to drink a whisky that burns and tastes like an ash tray? thats why this whisky is popular
Did you know Chivas' website for creating your own blend no longer exists? And for some reason if you email their customer support saying that they now send out a link to this video... Mateeee wtf are this company doing? I have no idea how to blend whiskey and my partner bought me this as a gift, she isn't happy I haven't touched it yet 😂
Same here😅 can we get the blending instructions pls?
