- Welcome back Dram Fam, to the Whisky Diary. This week we are taking a look at my recent visit to the Mackmyra Distillery in Sweden!
Not only is Sweden is an absolutely stunning country, but it is home to the Mackmyra Distillery, arguably one of the most unique distilleries in the world! It has been designed from the ground up to be as energy efficient as possible, powered almost entirely by gravity.

Björksav is a Birch sap. I just watch a review of this expression today. Man from the channel says its very herbal and spicy whisky. He said on the palate he tastes actually pine sap than birch but.. its all sounds very exiting so what about your opinion? 😁🥃🙋♂️

Cracking video Ben. Really great to experience it with you a bit. If you're ever down in Bristol let me know and I'll go with you to Circumstance. A completely different kettle of fish, but really interesting to see the differences and similarities between a large distiller like Mackmyra and a microdistiller.

Been trying to get over to Arran for a while, but twice the ferry was cancelled! I’ll see what I can do. Kilchoman is awesome, though!

That looked like a very well explained tour and Fredrick didn't seem rushed like some of the tour guides I've seen. Having said that it was a one on one tour specially for you. Are there any other advantages of vertical apart from the space required to build. Very cool. Look forward to part two

Hey Matt. Unfortunately a combination of terrible performance, the time taking to edit, and some bad footage meant it just couldn’t materialise in a way I was happy with. I think I’ll probably make something of it though.
