Devin can you re upload your how I became an Ems pilot video? It says its unavailable
Why did you move instruction jobs so much?
Started flying heli's at my local airport this year, your videos helped me make the choice! Thanks again, not looking back.
I dont understand the point of this video. You yourself don't know anything about NOTAR but you're trying to educate using other videos on youtube.
is there a way to get certified in a specific helicopter, for example an AIRBUS H125 / AS 350 B3 series? because these companies all say I need at least 500 hours before they will hire me
That cyclic in the Robbie is crap .
Have learnd in Bell 47 both R 22 & Cabri G2 good shopper with G2 you able to do out from level flight slowly a 90 degree dive and rouling out from it no problem very much fun 🎉
I believe the G2 cost a bit more than the R22, but if I was going to buy a 2-pace helicopter in that general price range, it would be a Cabri G2.
Yeap, its like Ferrari and Corvette they both cool but Ppl hate the cheap like if they could afford the other one
HI Devin, what programs would you recommend looking into? Seems like you're not to hyped about SUU, what would be some solid alternatives?
The hardest part I found was having to go from 5 feet with ground effect to 30 feet in same spot then back down to 5 feet then 30 and repeat without pausing! this taught rudder changes to compensate for rotor torque changes, throttle and pitch changes and rpms/rotorhead speed control ! My instructor had me bouncing around the airfield for an hour ! My shirt was soaked after !
Great video thank you
Regarding that first 2000 hours...I earned my fixed-wing license in 1991, ended up working in IT instead of aviation, and now after some 33 years of on-again-off-again flying, I have almost reached 1,000 hours. The mountain is steep indeed, lol. So, uh...why do I want to start over with my rotorcraft rating now?!?! I'm thinking there must be something wrong in the head of anyone who wants to be a pilot :)
The _other_ worst part about being a young, male helicopter pilot, is being married. 😆 That was a joke, just relax. *LOL*
I hope Cabri comes out w/ a 4-place version. I'd buy one.
I just built my dream R66 and it was almost $1.66 million. 😆
It is a well designed helicopter. 👏🏻👏🏻
Great videos!
Loving these videos Devin. I've been binge watching. 👍
How do pilots go from training to pilot instructor? Should it require more flight time.
A great video. Thanks Devin.
The last production year of the 206 only 10 were sold. So it was cancelled. Then Robinson came out with the R-66 and that took off. The 505 was Bell’s response.
Why you make some good points, I have a couple of arguments lol. First being ex Navy helo flyer(MH53e) I can tell you flying LARGE helos is much harder then small ones as you have to account for a big delay in input response, as well as drift due to winds in a hover. Secondly since the Robinson is considered an "entry level" bird they really need to design it to be a bit more forgiving as it's crazy to have to learn on such a twitchy aircraft...while I appreciate Robinsons for what they are and can do, having flown on just about every make/model of modern helo's and having lost a very experienced friend in a Robinson, I'll never fly in a Robinson..the risk vs reward just isn't there..
Switching careers and just starting out on the R22. Only a couple hours right now but this was way more informative than my instructor. Watching this over and over. Thanks so much for the comprehensive overview!
Dump your instructor - 80% of them are crap.
The flight planning the night before/morning of is by far the worst part of a checkride
I'd say the worst part is bridging the gap between the license req's and enough hours to actually get a job flying when you aren't a millionaire.
You should take nattokinase/lumbrokinase if you sit a long time. I take it daily on an empty stomach with serrapeptase and I've noticed great daily improvement.
Robinsons do not fly in the traditional rotary wing sense. They are so ugly that the earth pushes them up and away. My biggest issue with the Robinson other than mast bumping is that extremely stupid looking and jinky cyclic yoke. If I had to give up flying the 430, I'd grab an gyrocopter. Way cheaper, way more fun.
Good luck getting a job over 65 as that is the mandatory retirement age.
Definitely the Bell 505 when living Montana is my Got To !!
I'm about to turn 30. Does anyone on here have a family while also attending flight school? How do you handle being away from your family?
I’m going to start flight school in January I have a family too so I’ll be going thru the same thing
@@eshodaguila371same here
I SO needed this video today! Thank you!
It is so funny, I started watching you about a month ago, ( Oct 2024)you sir are at the top of you game, congratulations, I hope you look back at these videos and see your sucess.
I flew in a 130 on a Canyon tour, that has led me to build a motion H145 simulator 😂. Love the comparison video!
Sa pndai
I've never been in either one. The only helicopter I ever rode in was a Bell UH-1 (Huey) when I was in Jr. High School in 1975.
you don’t see many 505’s though.
Ya nailed it. Good job.👍
I have one question about autorotation tehnique. Why on some helicopters you pitch up a lot in the flare, and then go to flat position (usually on bigger helicopters, like Blackhawk), and on same (smaller helicopters, like h125) you have smaller, almost constant pith up angle during the whole autorotation ?
I wouldn't describe aerospace manufacturing as higher quality than modern automotive manufacturing, but it has to maintain a safe level of quality despite much lower production volumes. This can be challenging, when the budget available for investing in tooling and process development is much smaller. The volumes are somewhere between an Italian sports car, and a hand-built race car.
I assume you might fly for 1-2 hours, be on standby for 1-2 hours waiting for a load, weather change etc. So maybe you work 4 hours in a 8-12 hour period. The rest of the time you are on standby, waiting for a load and not being paid.
Jonni Tigersmith would approve.
French 🇫🇷🇫🇷. H125 my one ☝️
My question to you young sir is how old did you get the cpl and how did you find your first job. Everyone seems to be asking for 1500 and 2000 hours, 100 hours night, etc. How did you start?
Get a trade (no big loans required), work for yourself and then fly for fun.
i just passed my helicopter instrument rating!
I’m a new student with 0.6hrs and pulled off a hover on my first try. I’m thinking of starting a TH-cam channel following how I did that, any advise for a new pilot/creator? P.S. Born & Raised Maui, HI 🤙🏾
What school are you in?
@ Gofly Maui with Nick
Thank you for answering my question. Once I'm done in my military career. I can't wait to go full speed towards pursuing my EMS helicopter dream. I'll be starting at 38. But better late than never.
If you work 7 on and 7 off, do you get to go home after your 12 hour shift or do you have to stay on base for HAA Pilot? Thanks for the video!
I have my fixed wing and rotorcraft rating. Don't fly Helicopters any more they have gotten too expensive to rent . 20 years ago they were 150 hr now its 350 hr ..
