Can you guys show us how to sex the rabbits? I can tell with most animals other than birds and rabbits. so I don't know what to look for to see what sex they are.
Yes, we already have it. It was one of our first videos. th-cam.com/video/ekBlM_4g-CM/w-d-xo.html
@@WildTsHomestead oh ok thank you ill go watch it now
What happemd with the ducks??? I have mascovys and Pekins.
@@scribethetimeisnowglorious964 we are still waiting on the guy to round them up. Once it got hotter they stay out on the lake and he can't catch them. But Melissa is so excited she may just go buy some already. Lol Are Muscovy a good breed to have?
Looking good. Keep it up.
@@CanadianDreamer Thank you.
This makes sense : watch the behaviours of each animal, and you learn their issues and fears and likes. I have a friend who is a very successful sheep farmer : His words : Every day I don't see my sheep, one is nearer to sickness. So he watches, inspects, see as many of them as possible, every day, ensuring they are healthy, and pick up any issues, ready to nip such in the bud.
Do a gentle version of the Khabib "put-to-sleep". Chicken jiu-jitsu. Thanks for sharing this very calm and informative way to enable novices to handle their animals. Best wishes for you and yours. I'm your newest subscriber, for the moment.
You have a remarkable talent for transforming spaces into thriving havens of life and growth, sharing practical wisdom with heartfelt dedication. Your videos blend creativity with care, inspiring us to nurture both gardens and community connections. And I am Floating Village Life
it's likely not the guts attracting the predators, having animals like chickens attract them no matter what. I personally don't like rabbit meat but was thinking since they are easy and fast breeding, I may raise some to feed the pigs when I am able to get my homestead.
Geese for weeds and grass ducks for bug control also helps fertilize garden
@@user-eu2tk5xn9y oh nice, we haven't thought about geese but sounds like they may be helpful, and we are excited to be getting ducks soon. Thank you for the info we appreciate it.
please look up ducks for pests control. they dont harm your garden and eat all the bugs and slugs.
@@TheKrazysinner I have heard a lot about ducks. Thank you. We have a friend who is getting a bunch and is supposed to give us some too we are just waiting for them to come back off their pond. Ducks will be new to me but I'm so excited.
I would highly suggest talking to neighbors who have gardens, they may offer you a ton of advice on the do's and don'ts for your area specially for critters. gardeners LOVE to share information with others so chat with them it will help you guys out a lot I am sure.
Excellent information
Wow So 😂Timely …as a new homesteader who jumped into this with both feet with my wife with full range totally different animal types at once this is one technique that’s not only effective but fast results Made our day Thank you Subscribed like a fast dial on the phone Ps we are one year in… 1Black Angus, 1Highland Bull, goat, ducks, rabbits, Pomeranian turkey poults, 49 meat birds 8 layers & 2 roosters So much to learn to be good custodians of our fathers creation Thank you for the video
Thank you so much. It can feel overwhelming at times, and its for sure a learn as you go adventure, we are right there with you. Have a Blessed day.
Wow, that's good to know
Great video,..! THANKS. I am a retired zoo keeper, have HAD POULTRY, etc. Most of my life.... in fact your flock looks like mine...lol ALL The different kinds... I'm 74, aggressive ROOSTERS were never a big deal for me. Guess cause, I always moved the same, IDKNOW.? UNTIL,... 7, NOW 8 YEAR GRANDSON... LOL. He's getting better but, this kid could turn a CAPON... Into Attila the Hun...Lol. He Would TEASE, poke, run up to them, retreat etc. Resulting in a few very aggressive birds...Now Thank the LORD, He has his own flock, and respects HIS BIRDS. IVE heard of your method, many years ago,... knew it works, but never had to use it.... the aggressive clocks, COCKERALS were given away....next time I have, or see any aggression, I'll use this method.... it makes complete sense. All the BEST to you, Your family. Ron, from the Adirondack mountains of upstate New York.
Wow, thank you so much. I'm glad our video helped you or at least reminded you. I think its great for little kids to grow up around different animals, like your grandson, he learned to respect and appreciate them. I think that's important because that respect for animals start to carry over to anything or anyone.
I've got Rhode Island Reds - know for their aggression. I have only had to make the present roo submit according to the shown style a very few times as he was growing up. But every day when the chickens are coming out of the house door I still snatch him up and make him let me hold and pet him. After a few times he doesn't bother at all, and he avoids me completely the rest of the time. Excellet video.
Thank you, lol yeah Rhode Island Reds can be little A holes if you let them.
We tried diatomaceous earth last year for squash bugs on our yellow squash. It worked better than anything else we tried so far and we were able to get some squash hopefully it would help you as well.
@@user-ib6rc7hh9c We will have to try that when we replant them. May even sprinkle some from seed to full grown plant if it keeps them away. Thank you for the tip. 👍
My 10 Icelandic birds will be 8 weeks old tomorrow July the 4th 2024. It appears I have only 1 rooster as it already for the past 2 days praticing crowing. If so, lucky me. If aggression is discovered, your video is awesome! I will do as you have shown. Thank you so much for showing us newbies raising chickens on this method. Love it🙂
@@sparksfamilyhomestead You're very welcome I'm glad this video is helpful and good luck with your chickens. 😁
I am new to your channel so I don't know if you have any ducks but if you do let them loose in your garden, they will eat the pests and not disturb your plants
@@TheKrazysinner We are looking to get ducks soon so we may have to try it. 😁 Thanks!
@@WildTsHomestead yeah they use them as natural pest control in I believe thailand in the rice patties and in other countries in their gardens.
Thank you! I will definitely employ this method!! Starting tomorrow!
now that I think about it, what about freezing some water balloons then just remove the balloon and put the ice in the water.
maybe you can freeze bigger blocks of ice so it dont melt too fast. like put some ice in buckets to freeze then add to the water in the center.
Good idea, I'll try that. Thanks 👍
@@WildTsHomestead you're welcome
ty for this, i plan to get chickens in the future and was going to avoid roosters due to their aggression, now I don't have to.
interesting
How do you like your American Bresse, temperament and heat tolerance wise? I really do want some, but the timing hasn't been quite right so far. My flock also pants regularly in these 100+ Northern Oklahoma temps. I have a barnyard mix, but also some Bielefelders and Black Australorps.
Nice flock, We love the Black Australorps, and want to get some Bielefelders. So far the American Bresse have done pretty good as far as heat tolerance, we are in Texas and currently having 90+ and into the 100's and havent lost any. As far as their temperament, they havent even gotten to full maturity and the roosters are already getting bold with us. So Iwont let the kids in there with them. There is a technique to assert your dominance over them and they become less aggressive, I'll make a video showing how I do it.
My wife would NOPE right out of getting any American Bress then...if the roos tend to get aggressive. Two of our Grandsons got scratched by a FANTASTIC (to the hens) guy (Mr Spot) and he was tough on her also. GREAT protector of the flock, mean to everybody but me. Our current roos seem pretty laid back with us two legged interlopers, so far anyways. Thanks for the reply!
@@goldwingnut1954 Yeah if you are unable to keep them in a separate area where kids dont have access to then I wouldn't recomend them. We have ours in their own area that the kids don't have access to. In general people usually have meat chickens seperate from egg layers, but if you're unable to do that I wouldnt risk the kids safety. We don't know what the general public has said about their temperament, we are just going off of what we have experienced. Maybe we just have some A holes, but thats not the norm. I would ask some other people as well who have them. let me know because now I'm curious, lol
Wheelbarrow and flat shovel to mix then dump in containers

Guarantee the hibiscus will make it.
Why not raise chickens? There is literally no reason to raise rabbits for just meat. Unless you harvest their hides, it's literally not worth the energy cost of the feed grown.
They are not just for meat. We harvest hides too. Our teen also creates his own lucky rabbit feet keychains. The parts we don't use gets fed to our chickens or dogs so nothing is wasted. But thank you.
Nice job . them bees can destroy wood to a point it weakens the hole structure of the barn .
