I prefer Jack's Point but that's just me. I have a couple routing issues with Cape Kidnappers. Kidnappers looks great from the air but on the ground it's not as visually stunning as Jack's Point. The Kidnappers course might be a better design though but overall I would take Jack's Point 6 out of 10 rounds.

Maybe 15 yrs ago, the surroundings were not as built up !! There maybe redesigns due to infrastructure ! The hills will be redesign, Glendu bay is being constructed,along with hogans gully..which is a stones throw away from the Hills..Gil Hanse design..

@henryklaubautermann209 Really great that you are an 8.8 after 1 year! I would recommend my book to you. My approach is less technical and more allowing the supercomputer of the mind to work on its own. Conscious learn is quite slow where as subconscious learning is natural and easy. Think about learning to walk as a child. Did anyone help you? Without language you figured out that very technical movement pattern. My book teaches how to get in that state of learning. Good luck with your game!

Additional question: How do you trace your shots? Can you just do it with a trackman behind you? Are there and Chester Solutions? I alsow want to strart a Chanel, as soon as i‘m ad good as you.

@henryklaubautermann209 Well I was ranked in Golf Digest as one of America's top Teachers in my state many years ago. Now my teaching is more philosophical in nature. You can read the testimonials on Amazon or listen to some of my talks on Podcasts to see where I am coming from. It really depends on what you are looking for. I don't teach technique so if that's what you are after I am not your guy. If you think there is more to this game than what you have been told then you may enjoy my approach.

@henryklaubautermann209 I use an app called shot tracer pro. Takes a little time but I think it comes out pretty well.

Yeah it can be a struggle if you don't hit it straight, but I promise score won't matter when you are surrounded by the giant trees.

I would have to respectfully disagree with you on it being "crap" and "gimmicky." Yes, the fairways are narrow but this is solely due to the land restrictions/terrain. The designer chose to leave bunkers out of the design so you aren't doubly penalized - a truly creative design concept for a tight course. Arrowtown uses the natural terrain perfectly and it's hard to image a much better design on such a unique piece of land. The course was built with picks and shovels so comparing it to a modern course like Jack's Point, where money and heavy machinery were no issue, is not a fair comparison. Like tasting a fine wine, golf course rating is definitely subjective and bound to stir up conversations. It is always refreshing to hear other opinions and critiques. However, in the case with Arrowtown, the vast majority of golf architectural aficionados do find it to be a unique, one-of-a-kind architectural design in a world full of cookie-cutter golf courses.

@@mudders1 I hear you about the greens but sometimes I think wild greens are fun and at the North Course they really seem to fit the design. As far as the imperial measurements most of the courses I played in NZ had both options on the scorecards, so I went with what I knew. Plus it says 80% of my followers are from the states so I thought it would be more relatable to most people who follow. Certainly don’t want to offend anyone as the Kiwi’s are some of the nicest people on earth.
