This 90s Film Predicted WOKE culture
Released in 1993, Demolition Man, directed by Marco Brambilla, stands out as one of the most thought-provoking and satirical sci-fi films of its time. While its primary narrative revolves around the futuristic conflict between John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone) and Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes), the film presents a dystopian society that has curiously become a source of reflection in contemporary culture. Many critics and fans alike argue that Demolition Man prophesized aspects of what we now describe as "woke culture"-a social movement focused on political correctness, inclusivity, and the dismantling of oppressive systems. In this visual essay, I'll examine how the film anticipated the cultural shifts that underpin this modern phenomenon, using its portrayal of censorship, social engineering, and moral absolutism.

How TARANTINO Made a Pivotal Character From Nothing
มุมมอง 9193 หลายเดือนก่อน
Jackie Brown is my favourite Tarantino film, and I can talk about its rich, layered narrative and characterisations endlessly. One of the standout roles for me in the film is that of Melanie Ralston, played by Bridget Fonda - a deceptively small role that has catastrophic effects on the plot of the film. In this visual essay, I do a deep dive into Melanie's role in the film, focussing on the di...
The Downfall of Everyone in HEAT is Because of One Man

Michael Mann's Heat (1995) is an absolute masterpiece of storytelling, and a crime epic that few films in the same genre can rival. In this visual essay, I do a deep dive into Heat's plot, focussing on the character of Waingro, a minor character who, I argue, is imperative to the structure of the film. Please see chapter markers below if you'd like to view specific parts of this video. If you'v...
This is TARANTINO'S Most Complex Character
มุมมอง 2444 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this visual essay I discuss the complex nature of one of Tarantino's most fascinating characters, Drexl Spivey from True Romance (1993), played by Gary Oldman. I explore the themes of race, identity, and violence inherent in the film, and focus on the multi faceted layers of Drexl as a minor character: one which would usually be somewhat one dimensional, but in the hands of Tarantino is trul...

Irregardless of how Gil Hill was in real life, he was perfect for this role. I can't stop laughing at all the scenes he's in.
Gary was OUT THERE in this one... LOL

I have to rewatch this film immediately. So effing good.
He was the original cop in Detroit
"By the way. Your secret undercover partner, Mario Andretti Freeman, wrecked the gaddamn Ferrari." Should have put that scene in.
0:47 - SQUIDWORD 😂
EVERYONE !!!!!
Man if he could of played Ike Turner .😂
Gary's at his most unhinged and self indulgent in this, but always very watchable
Good scene. Corrupt dude.
Gill would of been brilliant as Mace Windu if Samuel L Jackson didnt do it and make it anazing
I still don't understand what is that drug that u bite on, and it gives u that kind of sensation. Could someone explain?
@@TamásBorsos-m5d I believe it's a type of benzodiazepine, probably Librium.
Rest in Peace Gil Hill I met him twice in Detroit he's the kindest humble man I knew! 💯
RIP Gil Hill
Barboni is my favorite character of all the Guy Richie movies
Get Shorty isn't a Guy Ritchie movie.
Amazing the guy had no acting experience and just put in a memorable performance like that in BHC. What a legend!
One the best films ever…all the acting and a young Natalie Portman.
#RestInParadiseKing Gil Hill. Thank you
Got anything to declare? Yeah, don't go to England.
Deep undercover 😂😂😂
He is f….ng a legend
Such a terrific acting 👏🏻 great film 🍿
Peruvian?😊
One of the most underrated films ever. Fun fact Pacino was going off script after powdering his nose. Director kept it in. Bravo 👏👏👏
Muthafuckn Axel that muthafuckn truck stolen two weeks ago
😂 Ray look at me....boom 😅☎️
Love Oldman, but jeeze he was close to Tod Slaughter territory in this!
Even his own crew have their hands full trying to control him 😂and are also afraid of him due to his erratic behaviour .
Legend Always
whenever i hear a saxophone i always reminds this franchise
😂
A living superlative. Can't be touched or fvcked with. Amazing talent.
4:57--whenever i do that the cab driver just stares at me.
' its always the same thing , its when you start to become really afraid of death that you learn to apricate life ' 'Do you like life sweet hart ? - ' yes' 'That's good ' ' Because I take no pleasure in taking life , if its from a person who doesn't care about it ' ... this line alone has to be the most chilling line in any movie made, the whole scene was chilling Oldman face expressions his tone though when he dropped that line things good even more cold and dark , seeing it for the first I whispered wo. Oldman is such a great actor he can become the person he is playing and you believe he is really like that.
This is from Matilda
I completely forgot that he was trash talking Ray while he was holding a loaded gun and iditot that he is pulls back his shirt showing his gun........the man had a loaded gun in his had already and you're trying to act tough😆 that's the work of Darwin right there.
R.i.p Gil hill
RIP Dennis , they didn’t treat your medical condition and your life your was cut short, you are terribly missed 😮
Gil Hill owned every scene he was in 😂.
I'd forgotten about Ray Barboni. He owes me $$. Thanks for putting this together. Dennis was great!
Gil hill was corrupt, think he was involved in the Detroit drug game in the 80s
Funniest boss
