Sorry for the confusion, sound is totally fine. All sound boards were disconnected for debugging purpose. I'll remove that note to avoid same confusion in the future. But happy to hear from you 😉 BTW, swapping video board to working one solved the issue. My working video boards are getting slimmer and need to consider repairing them which are very difficult😵

@@alpaca8714 I misunderstood, sorry. I hope you can fix your Video Boards One of the reasons I've been offline is because I swapped over from AMD Ryzen 5950X to Intel 13900K. It took a while to tune the PC for power efficiency as it ran very hot at default settings. And reinstalling + configuring everything again was time consuming.. I'm also archiving some old Mini DV tapes for a friend. I'm using my old XP era PC, it's nice to put my old Retro PC to good use. I tried using upscaler but the best way is to dump the RAW AVI files off the tapes. (Approximately 12gb - 15gb each 60 minute tape @ 25mbps bitrate!) So I'm extracting the RAW AVI files from the tapes using Firewire cable and movie maker in Windows XP. Firewire cable is connected to an Audigy 4 Pro sound card, very Retro setup! It's very time consuming, there are 42 tapes and there's no fast way to extract the files. 😅

Last weekend, I was in Osaka prefecture to hang out with other SPIKERs🕹️🕹️🕹️🕹️. We were wondering what were you doing since there weren't live or vid upload recently but that solves all the mystery🙌🏻 Mini DV tapes! haven't seen that for a while📼. You have so many tech! Yeah, those need old school equipment and time to capture them at high bit rate. Hope you can finish them soon🤞🏻

Wow! Didn't know that loosening the very long screw located in the center of game board can fix the issue! I should have tried that first before soldering fresh 74ACT244.

Thanks! Glad to see working fine again! and hope not other components die like this... This is my first experience to face adjusting voltages. Will make separate video on how I've done it but the method is exactly what you have described. I know SPIKEOUT PCBs stuck not working in several game centers in Japan. This due to operators do not have knowledge of fixing them by themselves. SPIKEOUT is know to be very LOW income game so it maybe hard (and expensive) for them to fix, I think... Thank you.

Thanks! glad to see another SPIKEOUT back alive. But Im curious, why does some PCBs require higher voltage? Is this caused by old capacitor? Will replacing those will solve the issue?

@@alpaca8714 Hi, Replacing the capacitors won't solve the issue regarding voltage requirements. Silicon Chips are not all the same. Similar to PC components, some chips will work at lower voltages and some require higher voltages. Maybe age and condition of the silicon is also a factor, I don't know for sure. PC enthusiasts call this phenomenon the 'Silicon lottery!. it's the quest to find the best overclocking Chip at the lowest voltage. That is my understanding. If you check one of the very first messages that I sent to you on Discord, I recommended to use a PSU with adjustable voltage. You have now discovered for yourself why adjustable voltages are required on Arcade Hardware. 😅 So glad you repaired this SpikeOut! See you. 👍

To my knowledge, Step 1 video board’s component is mostly in QFP package so if its just solder issue its fairly easy to repair. Repairing old large dimension PCB with BGA is extremely difficult. Really needs care when handling for sure.

I always run my Model 3s in the metal cage with fans. Running without fans will cause irregular graphics over time. I can verify from Ken the Sega repair guru himself.

You can sniff actual MIDI commands from game board's MIDI output connected DSB2.

Wow! you can fix them? that will be cool! where are you located at? From the symptom and error indicator LED that look like open connection somewhere.

@@alpaca8714 I tried to repair 5 broken step2.0 video boards and succeeded in 3 of them. If the board you sent me is fixed, I'll return it to you. I'm very happy with the Model 3 board repair, so I'd be happy if I could fix your board. I live in South Korea.

裁縫用の針でできると思います。 あとは、カッターの刃でもできちゃいます。その場合、使わない黄色いケーブルを残してまとめて束ねておくか、根元から切ってしまえばOKです。いずれの状態でも問題は無しです。

自己診断機能でも同じエラーでしたよねこのIC85, IC91, IC99のどれかが悪い、ってのは修理しづらい要因だと思います。 まずは各部品の端子に部分にはんだを塗ってみて改善するかを確認します。ダメなら動作品・新品の部品交換するしか直す方法は無さそうです。

I think this is relative common issue for MODEL3 2.x games, like Harley Davidson, Daytona, and so on. Since the test mode shows error on IC85, IC91, IC99, its really hard to point out which one (ones) causing the issue. You can try soldering IC's pins and see if that fixes. If not, you have to replace with new or working ICs. They are hard to find and replacing is requires soldering experience. I agree with you that you keep the other for spare parts.

そうなんです、ワンミスくらいならなんとかクリアーできるかな？ってくらいですかね。 PC1000で民家解体全く向いてませんが、繊細なコントロールが必要だからね！ってのはよく理解できました。 深夜のラウンドワンで数千円突っ込んだのが良い思いです(そしてそこからこのハマりました) 家庭用だと連コインできないみたいで、なかなかうまいこと練習ができません。

Thanks! I have memory playing this game looooong time ago when this was live in the game center (arcades) back then. Just started some doing research about this game it self but can find much information in the Japanese websites and bumping in to more stuff at the other side of the world🤣 I guess this game was that famous in Japan back then. Originally, my plan was to salvage my other MODEL 3 games but now thinking of making controllers using other hardware. Is DC steering wheel good solution? I already bought "HORI スーパーバイクコントローラ" HP2-08, knowing that it is not style for Harley, but this was only bike style controller that I could find here. I'll definitely work on basic stuff like sound but does this board required external amp board stuff? I am heavily fascinated by the development of this gem, despite it's probably not the most polished Model 3 game graphically (even compared to VF3 from Step 1), but they're by no means bad. Wonder if AM1 has some concept art of the riders/bikes themselves, like the creatures on House of the Dead had. They were released practically the same year! And this game purely uses on-board audio. You crimp 4 wires (L-, L+, R-, R+) to a JST NH 4-pin and using crimp or solder, you can ideally strip some RCA plugs. Dreamcast wheel is probably the next best thing to a motorcycle handlebar as it uses analog paddles on the wheel itself. No pedals. Unfortunately I haven't gotten digital inputs working so I'm gonna look after another copy of that wheel to hack. Some wires broke off start PCB. Eventually I might be able to hook up those switches. :) Since this wheel uses only 3 pots you'll probably have to tie the front and rear brakes (pins 9 on CN1 and 11). The game will not play properly without all your analog inputs connected, trust me. Playing on control panel mounted to a box. :)

Graphics are good and does not look dated even now! I'm not sure SEGA AM1 has any of such docs published since its not their own original IP. Have you tried searching video tapes capture or magazines? Maybe GAMEST "ゲーメスト" magazine is the place to start. In the past, made own audio cable for VF3 (not 3tb) that can hook up to PC external amp so will try if from there. You know about this game very well! I'll have them in mind and start work on modifying my controller. Will keep you updated👍🏻

You probably can't get this controller in Japan anywhere, but perhaps the best motorcycle controller I've attempted to mod for this game is the Yamaha MS-1 Motor Sports controller for PS2, even though its suction cup system is finicky at times. You open the 11 screws from the bottom, then the big screw in the middle of the neck and the 5 screws on the main face of the wheel. It uses 5k pots. Basically you need to run new wires to the controller and for reference, any unlabeled connection on the controller's PCB is GND. Have you opened the Hori controller yet?

特に気になる症状や不具合には遭遇しなかったです。 以下予想ですが、これは電源配線上に使用されていました。その配線にかかる電圧を安定させ、接続先の部品(ICなど)の誤動作を防止し、ゲームが不意に止まらないようにしていると思われます。 また、ノイズ成分を除去する役割もあると思います。ただ、1つ目の部品の近くには別途ノイズ除去部品があったので、ノイズ除去はそっちで担っていそうです。 ご参考までに。
