I cant believe TFL hasn't stopped this radar thing its very dangerous AND IS GOING TO CAUSE SERIOUS HARM TO DRIVERS
It's very dangerous
Horribly dangerous
Hey Mike, thanks for making your videos, they’re very informative and helpful. I have a question, can you make a video on driving for other app? Such as Addison Lee, Wheely, Blacklane and Airport Companies? Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Noted ✅️
Kids are little shits and can say anything. I defo won’t be picking them up
Do you rent or bought your car ? Worth investing now in a diesel one or hybrid?
Purchased, I would go for a plugin hybrid
Hi, do you have an email address to contact you?
Thank you for the video it was straightforward
You are welcome
Dangerous feature too, shouldn't be allowed
I now have a petition you can sign on Change.org. I will be doing a updated video on the chanel this week.
Looks like happy days for bolt
Needs to go in London work has dropped because they want you to drive sometimes 25 minutes to pick up. No one is going to drive that amount for a £12 job
Hey Mike I’m always around Croydon :Purley Tesco kind of area I’ve been looking out for you bro but no luck 😅😅
Haha, well anytime you see me just say hello 👋
Is Uber Exec worth it I hear different things.
It can be if you know your market i.e. places to work and times
@@privatehiremike Thanks for the info
Hi Mike I want to ask you please if I want do Uber EXEC 2021 plate how long I can use the car up to what year please thank you so much
Exec covers up to 7 years after date of registration so it would be 2028
Only worth it if you have a home charger. Just returned my Tesla model 3 with max charge range of 210 miles. Was a nightmare charging at least twice a day 1 - 3 hours at super chargers daily depending on others waiting.
I've an electric car from last 3 years and I would say that if you can afford a home charging point then this car will really worth it, If not then you should be able to work at least 14 hours a day to cover the costs.
Wow that is insane 😳 How much we're you spending per day on public chargers ?
It's a waste of money spending money to work for uber. Get a proper job , uber is dead in planet earth.
I'm only going through the application process to be come a PCO driver. With the new rules coming in place, really up in the air on which vehicle to purchase. Was thinking on getting a V Class to do airport and event jobs which i've been told gets better money. But then on the other hand get told go for a Kia Niro and stick with UberX. I live in London and park on the street so home charging is a no no. I have a 2017 Volvo V90 D5 Estate so not sure if I should just use that for a while. Any advise is welcomed🙂
Hi Londoner, I would say the best thing is to rent a few vehicles first and see what works best for you. The best middle ground at the moment for Uber in London in my opinion right now would be a plugin hybrid which is eligible for both Uber X and comfort. Kia nero is a good shout or even the classic Prius.
An electric car is a scam
What times are you working
Evenings from 6PM
It really distracts and once you accept it still takes some time to come while for you are on the move
Very well-informed video. You are a brilliant guy.
Glad you enjoyed it
I'm not sure if it's the same for London, but the pricing usually depends on number of drivers logged in and available in the area that the rider requests a trip. I've noticed as more drivers have gone on that the rates here have plummeted. I also used to find that most of my jobs seemed to be priced at around £1 per minute rather than any mileage correlation. This is less now, but still that's what it seemed to be. I still can't figure out why sometimes we get running miles and sometimes not - I'm guessing it comes back to how many drivers are in the area of the rider when the trip is requested. As for your rates - I think you're probably right in what you're doing. Personally I focus more on how long a job will take me to do against how much it pays and decide if it's worth it. I also factor in things like the area, traffic and which area I'll end up in, but it's a totally different ball game in my area compared to London. Sometimes something is better than nothing
Thanks for the insight! It’s definitely a different game in London compared to other areas especially with the number of drivers affecting the rates. Sometimes it’s about balancing between short trips and the longer, more profitable ones. Also if you do take a long trip ensuring its not too far away from a Uber operating area and that the rate is at least £1.50.
@@privatehiremike I guess providing you have constant demand then you can cherry pick, but I think if I was to be too picky I'd just earn less. It certainly wouldn't be balanced out with lower operating costs anyway
100 banished it's so dangerous Waist of time money this is slavery at its best
Trip Radar was brought in to kill surge and get jobs done for the cheapest price possible. And this is the reason Uber doesn’t let us disable it in preferences. Think of Uber as a Casino this gives the house the advantage.
Fantastic point you make @Yorkshiregigguy 👏 The app to me reminds me of a fruit machine, the unpredictability and the potential of low and high fares creates a sense of chance and reward. Drivers gamble their time in hope for the big Jackpot which essentially is a long mile profitable job.
Soon there will be driverless cars
Will be doing a video on this soon
Hi Mike, new here and going to start my uber journey soon. Was wondering with these new uber mileage rates is it still possible to make £200 on a friday/saturday/Sunday night ?
Yes it is but it depends on the area you are driving and how busy the weekends are. Generally on a Fri/Sat night you will be able to hit £20 per hour so if you do 10 hours you should get to the £200. Sundays I would recommend to start earlier as its busy in the morning in london but them gets quiet late afternoon early evening. Good luck on your journey
@privatehiremike thanks and in terms of the vehicle - where do you think I should get one from ? Finance ? If so, where. Or straight out buy one
Bro this is so easy I make this happen on Monday/Friday
@rich_is_risky how long does it take you and does the new mileage rate affect you ?
For now if you can afford a charger at home then go for it in my opinion.
The problem with new drivers they dont know the pricee of the job .or what should be the price most days price is absolutely shocking .since they went to court payed millions out to drivers .they looking at reasons to get it back .before then .price was ok
Also Uber is trying to compete with Bolt now a days it seems. Heathrow to Nottinghamshire like 150 miles Bolt trying to pay £130 whats all that about. So literally 86p a mile and you will come back empty from rural Nottingham so 43p a mile madness! And the jobs get accepted so clearly uber and bolt wants to create a race to the bottom , they get away with those sub £1 per mile ,because plenty of drivers do it
Yes it is very sad and what's even sadder is some drivers don't know the maths and just drive becos they see £ signs.
Good advice , sadly some drivers ruin it by accepting those 70p 80p 90p a mile jobs at airports
Yes they do because Uber know eventually one driver will accept it as a going home job and they will let the customer wait until a uber driver takes it.
It’s all fixed & Uber are playing us like a fiddle. I picked up this morning from Crystal Palace going to terminal five Heathrow I Uber executive and I was paid £70.05 and the job should’ve been I reckon about £90
The Exec jobs I believe Uber steal even more money and also the Exec prices are what the standard Uber price should be. I done Exec for 1.5 years and I can tell anyone it's not worth it if your doing it for Uber alone.
Great advise, in central london "congestion zone" miles per job is priced at £2-3 on x and comfort and a typical 3-4 mile job pays around £8-10 but takes well over 25mins to complete which is awful. Saying that it's still almost £20 an hour "CAPPED BY TFL/UBER" but all that traffic and these cyclists for a £10 job better off working the outskirts less traffic open roads quicker job completion time and overall better driving experience in my opinion.
Yes I will always prefer to drive in the suburbs, I went to Central London the other night and it was quiet. Seems to be more jobs aswell down in the suburbs and less traffic so its a no brainer for me.
@@privatehiremike Boss, central London is always quite at night except on Thursdays. Offices are closed, only the areas with restaurants and pubs are busy.
It should be banished It. Is upsetting I can't bearing earn any money since they introduced trip radar
It's not ideal however just been smart with your job choice and take time to calculate everything before doing the trip. I always screenshot the job before doing it if its a bigger job to make sure the numbers add up.
249.49 for 13 hours i did over a few days thats £19ph take expenses in account its not bad but yh could be better
What day and time did you work and area?
Work between 8am up to 4 most days I work in stoke high earning area because most people here can't drive or are to poor to do so
I’ve noticed quite often when I ignore or decline a radar request, the same job then comes through as a normal request, but at a lower price! I work in the north and I’ve disliked trip radar ever since it first appeared.
That is very interesting it comes back cheaper 🤔
Could you do a vid or reply and explain how it works joining uber and what you need to do and how insurance and tax works?
@Private Hire Mike - Could you do a vid or reply and explain how it works joining uber and what you need to do and how insurance and tax works?
My opinion next two years petrol and diesel prices going to the roof in London😢
Yes , very distracting indeed. I tend to leave comfort or exec only on whilst driving. But, then again might be missing out on a good Uber X long trip. Hope they change back to the way it was ..
💯 it’s all fixed in favour or Uber & the customer. Trip radar should be banished Holiday pay should be paid on a Tuesday again like it was before not added into the cost of the trip . And it shouldn’t be a favouritism in algorithm with certain drivers it’s not a level playing field. It’s even worse now than it has ever been and I can’t see it getting any better.
Spot on 💯
Holiday pay is now used to calculate against your hourly rate, seems like uber has found a loophole to not pay holiday pay.
I can’t find much information regarding EVs in Uber but isn’t Ubers goal to have an electric fleet by end of 2025? Meaning as a driver I can continue to use my PHEV after 2025, so it is not really a requirement for drivers but recommended?
Great question! Uber does have a goal to transition to an all-electric fleet, but the timeline varies depending on the region. For example, in London, Uber has committed to becoming fully electric by 2025 as part of its Clean Air Plan, which includes encouraging drivers to switch to electric vehicles (EVs). However, this doesn't necessarily mean drivers using Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) will be banned immediately after 2025.While it's highly encouraged for Uber drivers to make the switch to EVs, it might not be a strict requirement right away, especially for drivers already using PHEVs. You'll likely see more incentives for drivers to go fully electric, such as reduced service fees and access to charging infrastructure. Keep in mind that policies could evolve, so it's best to stay updated on Uber's official communications. For now, you should be able to continue driving with your PHEV after 2025, but it's a good idea to start considering an all-electric vehicle if you want to future-proof your career and take advantage of any incentives Uber may offer
Firstly, you are allowed to touch your phone. You aren't allowed to HOLD your phone. Big distinction. Also, why do you say things like you KNOW how the algo works? It's just speculation. You have no idea how it works. It's all well and good trying to qualify at the end of the vid that it's your theory, but you're speaking like it's fact. As for trip radar, I drive in the North East, never had an issue with it.
😂 you're clearly in denial, what mike mentioned is actually correct. your comment says it all, you have not been in the private hire industry for that long if you cannot even grasp basic fundamentals of how ubers algorithm plays out on a day to day basis. Further more on trip radar you work and probably live around north east of england where ubers demand is lower or in other terms "non existent" compared to london where the algorithm can play ping pong on prices with drivers.
Thanks for your feedback! You're absolutely right that there's a distinction between touching and holding the phone, and I appreciate the clarification. As for the algorithm, I definitely try to emphasize that a lot of what I say about it is based on personal experience and theories. The truth is, Uber’s algorithms are pretty opaque, so we're all trying to figure out the patterns based on what we see. I’ll work on making sure that comes across more clearly in future videos.Glad to hear you’re having a smooth experience with Trip Radar in the North East. It's great to hear from other drivers with different perspectives!
@@greezieeez7796 How am I in denial? You don't know the basic fundamentals - if you think you do then I would suggest it is you that is in denial. I've seen far too much "theory". The engineers understand it, and it's a hugely imperfect system so even if they think they understand it, it still wont work as they intend it to. They're far too vague with how they say it works if you read their engineering notes and listen to the driver podcast etc for anyone to make sense of it. What I do see a lot is people seem to give it human qualities and try and make it seem like it has thoughts or a personality. It's just code and it isn't perfect, but it's probably much simpler than peope make out. Closest driver with the lowest or most appropriate ETA. The shit comes when it's trying to figure that out, using shitty maps, potentially unreliable phone signals, potentially unreliable GPS data, potentially out of date traffic data etc. As for demand, it's fine. I can do usually £200-250 in around 10 hours, sometimes less, no surge. 4am - 2pm. What I will say is that travelling to pick ups isn't an issue because we don't have the traffic you have, so a 2 mile pick up only takes us 5 minutes. But yeah, if you're in London then I'm not surprised the algo isn't 100% efficient. How on earth can it be? It uses too much unreliable data to determine outcomes.
Nope I got pulled over for touching my phone to decline a job by the police. Nearly got 6 points only because I apologised he let me off.
@@Aylaun84 you wouldn't have got 6 points if you went to court. The law is very clear about it being handheld. If it's in a phone holder and secure, you can touch it. It then comes down to whether you are driving with due care and attention
I don't know if it's a combination of the usual September lull, but the past week or so since they introduced trip radar has been quiet and grim. Earnings have fallen off a cliff. I hope it's just a coincidence. If it says this bad, drivers will go under very quickly, me included. Yesterday I did £29 in 2 hours, which is completely unsustainable in London. Everyone from the drivers to the insurers to the PCO rental companies needs to be kicking off about trip radar.
I would say you need to be aiming for £20 per hour on a normal weekday and £25 to £30 on the busy weekends, unfortunately now with Radar Uber are obviously using data from individual drivers and use it against them to get them to accept low ride fares. My best advice would be to teach the algorithm what you like and hope it balances itself out in time.
@privatehiremike it's awful as when a good fare comes up if you are nor looking at your screen it will go before you tap it 😢
Definitely should be banned,we spend time watching the screen phone, and even make any sound when the request trip comes up.
But only one will pop up while driving and if your parked up more pop up
I don't think Uber cares what me or you think, they are bringing thousands of drivers everyday. The only people that might have a power to help is GMB or othe unions. If they get involved and request us to sign a term, then we might have a voice and stop this nonsense. Stay safe brother.
Sad but true, their business model is far from ethical and TFL and gov are turning a blind eye in favour of profit and back handers from these big tech corps
It needs to be banished. As I noticed, drivers need to drive longer to pick up their passengers. It doesn't allow them to think and choose. Also, it is taking away the concentration on road.
Agreed, it is heavily distracting drivers and when they send a £4.80 job on radar that is 2+ miles away it's a total joke & waste of time
Let's get a survey going as we are losing money every week regardless
Banished total waste off time sent me one today I was 0.1 mile away couldn’t be any closer still didn’t get it it’s a total joke just like Ubers going
Apparently they do that to give you the feeling that you almost had it similar to how a slot machine works. This company have the best of the best working for them behind the scenes to get drivers as hooked as possible
@@privatehiremikeit's moronic, basic psychology will dictate it's better to get nothing than feel like you could have had something, but you didn't get it and someone else did
Uber offers £13k now for toyota bz4x
Yep not worth working fir them think about ware and tare on the car too!
