Building the Mesa Part 6
In part 6 of the Building The Mesa series we attempt to get the 120 volt AC side of the final electrical system installed. We have a bunch of stuff to get into place and not much room to do it in. Will we get it all to fit, or will we need a shoehorn and pry bar to make it happen? Only one way to find out so let's get to it...

Building The Mesa Part 5: Final electrics - 12volt DC side
มุมมอง 492 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this episode we will install the finished 12 volt electrical system on the Topo Toppers Mesa camper. The goal is to end up with a strong, reliable and versatile system that will function in any overlanding/backcountry camping scenario, utilizing both alternator and solar power for charging. It's a big goal getting stuffed into a small space. Will it all fit? We'll see...

One of the biggest problems that any overlander has is dust intrusion, especially if you drive a pickup with a topper. today we show you how to seal up your tailgate area to minimize dust intrusion by installing a rock and dust seal kit. I've had some reports that the audio on this one can only be heard in the left ear. This isn't the first time it has happened, but I believe I've found the culprits. First, the wireless transmitter I wear has a small button on the side to switch between mono and stereo which has a tendency to change to mono output when accidently bumped. Second, the soundcard on my PC seems to be putting out a single central audio to the headset so everything is heard in both ears no matter what. Everything sounds normal when editing, but after being uploaded splits to the left ear mono mode. It's very aggravating and I will be purchasing some new hardware in the near future.

      Yeah. A lot of prepping the wood and then the stain, three coats of shellac, dealing with crappy warped lumber and making a couple of design changes in the middle of it all. I was guessing at the total time as I worked about three days a week for maybe 3-4 hours a day for a little over 3 1/2 weeks.

    I have a theory that explains the results we take for granted. I've been writing the story you describe for some time, as part of what caused the example you wonder about. Your comments around the 14-minute mark sound exactly like the actions I've been describing in my work! All the rocks around where you were standing showed heavy tumbling and erosion by fast-moving water. The water didn't come from Bonneville. Bonneville was the result of the flood that caused the damage you speak of, the water coming from farther from the east, across Wyoming. Bonneville emptied south, except for the Great Salt Lake, once much larger, because there was no outlet, but most of the water flooding southwesterly, eventually finding the Colorado River from the western side, even as another trapped body of water worked its way west from the center of the Colorado Plateau.

  • @TheAnarchitek
    @TheAnarchitek 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Very probably, the volcanic ash was contemporary with the silted dirt, picked up when the water that overwashed the entire western US, south of the Snake River Valley, carving all those beautiful canyons and hoodoos. The material carried away was deposited in many places far from their origins. It wasn't long ago, only 2,750 to 4,500 years ago. A lot of mountain-building at the same time, with volcanic ash falling like snow. A tsunami easily a half-mile high washed over the newly-risen Colorado Plateau, carving the wonderland of canyons and mesas it's known for, continuing west until water lapped at the tops of the Sierra Nevadas and Cascades. Volcanoes were erupting like mad, whole forests were wiped out by the onrushing waters. Everything in the region was wiped off the face of the earth, even as new landscapes emerged.

    I took one of these apart for the first time today. After two tries of completely loosening the generator tube, I noticed that just beyond the threads, there's a bit of a bulge on the end that goes into the valve body. It's a bit unnerving to do at first because one doesn't want to deform the brass, but a firm tug will pop it loose. Similarly, a firm push will reseat it before threading the tube back into the valve body.

    Regular old pump gas is not gonna hurt these things, just don't leave it in there. but then again you should leave any fuel in it.

  • @abdullaex4119
    @abdullaex4119 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good vid but must chime in again. In my case on one of my stoves. The fuel tank was rusted. Generator leaking and questionable. Too many small parts to fail. Absolutely too expensive to buy original parts. Successful solution was to convert to propane. Cheaper and safer. After a complete and intense cleaning, some paint, stove works like a champ. It would be great to have an original, complete stove. But cost, and most important safety, the propane generator is the way to go. And I refill my cans. So cost is minimal. I love those old stoves and lights. Yes Butane/Propane has its faults. But if there is a safer way to distance myself from gas fuels. So be it. Great job showing the break down and the parts. Many thanks. Peace from Texas

    Choose paints that are fuel-resistant. This is especially true for the fuel tank. Automotive engine enamels are heat-resistant and fuel-resistant. If you do not use fuel-resistant paint, when you spill fuel onto the painted surface, the fuel will dissolve the paint.
