at 30:47 why did he draw 3 cards?
Hi there, I am new to the game. at 10:40 Sundeep deployed Han and attacked with him. Is that correct? I thought the leader unit cannot attack straight away. Thanks for clarification.
Their opponent had taken the initiative so they couldn't take anymore actions, at that point the Han player can take as many actions in a row as they can before passing for the round themselves
@@toomas5948 thanks but I believe Matt took the initiative afterwards. right?
@@timheinrichsonPretty sure Matt had already taken the initiative, I think the commentator was incorrect or slightly behind on commenting on the plays
@@toomas5948 matt played a unit. Sundeep deployed han and attacked straight away. after the attack, matt points at the initiative token. seems clear to me :-)
@@timheinrichson If that is 100% the case then sundeep shouldn't have been allowed to deploy han and attack straight away. Part of me wants to think that Matt was simply reiterating to sundeep they have the initiative already or that they were simply nervously touching each of their resources and then the initiative token as it's a high pressure situation
This was awesome! Liked and subscribed!
Doesn't DJ cost 9 to Smuggle at the end? 7 Double Yellow in a Yellow/Green deck. Sundeep only had 7 resources...
Oh, Tech is on the field so it's only 5 single yellow. Right, moving on with my life.
Tech is definitely an easy one to miss. That card will make a big impact on the meta moving forward.
Matt on g2 played at random. He preferred to put palpatine guard in play... when he could actually ramp and go for +1 in hand, giving the opportunity to go for maul on the next turn... And he also draw a vader on next turn...
If it’s the turn I remember, I had to play around traitorous. I felt I had enough time to wait, but if he traitorouses my slt I think I’m blown out.
@mranks he was the turn where the oppo was going to 7th resource using double effect of han solo on g2
Awesome work, dude. Any plans to include draft or sealed content in the future, if it's possible?
Thanks, man! If there is enough interest in that, I would be more than happy to.
Overwhelming Garage?
Did I accidentally say that at some point? I don't think I did, but anything is possible!
@@Next-GenGamingSC Nah, it's just they way you pronounce "barrage" makes me think "garage" every time. Then I think of the overwhelming mess in my garage.
Maybe I'm not a great SWU player, but giving up at 10 health to a board that he cannot ever answer? Really? Maybe this game is not that great after all...?
At that point it was 20 damage if he did not pull a ground sentinel. I think it was probably a little soon as well, but I don't know what cards he had on hands. It's a card game and the RNG would get you sometimes
Palpatine can be a slow deck, and deploying Palpatine effectively usually means stealing something valuable from your opponent. Conversely, Han is all about playing effectively above the resource curve. In the third match, Palpatine didn't get significant resource ramp, and the Han player managed to fairly effectively flood the board, make Palpatine's only deploy choice a sub-optimal one, and then played down the Han unit which can be pretty devastating if you don't have an immediate answer, as he takes no damage back when he attacks and defeats a unit. Basically, a slow deck played against a fast deck, and got outpaced. It happens. The second game is a good indicator of what happens when the slow deck can safely ramp and stabilise.
I wholeheartedly believe this is a fantastic game. This particular game was just a tough one for Matt. He did not have the answers he needed in hand to slow Sundeep down and felt it was just best to move on to the next game. Unfortunately, games like this happen in all TCGs from time to time.
thanks from france
You're welcome! I hope you enjoy all of the coverage.
Great video as always. Am I missing something though? Why didn't the Palp player put the reinforcement walker out at the end of game 3 to heal 4? Had to have seen Tech/DJ coming right?
He was fixated on killing Qi’Ra to get out Vader. Yes he could have flipped Palp or Walkered but game was still pretty much over.
I would have sac Yularen after playing it then ping Han so I could steal it next turn with Palp flip
Wouldn't be able to flip Palp though after the DJ resource steal.
@@Moy_ DJ cost 9 w/o Tech so Han player would need to play Tech to smuggle it next turn, Palp player then take initiative and flip Palp right away
Oh you mean the turn before?
Very thankful you got some coverage of this event!
It was a great weekend, and I hope that you enjoy all of the coverage!
It's about time you uploaded a match with Set 2
I have been itching to get some out. Baltimore was great!
Nice to see diffrerent decks and leaders. Funny how han got popular so fast. I still will never play him withat silly cart art, it looks like han joker lol
What do you mean he got so popular so fast? He’s been popular since the release of the first set.
@@brandonjohnson9876 not as much as boba and sabine popular
It is nice to see different decks for sure! Han made a big splash this past weekend.
I know it’s not a big deal but it bugs me that when yellow offers opponent to cut the opponent shuffles his deck. It’s a cut not a shuffle
I don’t understand why Ryan didn’t use Vaders epic action and get him out on the field game 1. He could’ve won earlier
He deployed Vader as early as he could in the first game, on seven resources. You must have seven resources before you can bring Vader out.
Am I seeing this wrong? It looks like the Han Solo guy is keeping his resources and not discarding one like the ability says
It appears as though he did forget to defeat a resource at least once. Thankfully it did not change the outcome of the match.
Big Commentary🙏🏻 makes even the hardest control decks exciting to watch 😅 great voice
Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it!
Wait bro are you the on playing lol??
No, I was only getting coverage for the event. This was just a picture from one of the feature matches.
Good coverage as always! I had second hand frustration for Curtis while watching this, blue control is so unfun to watch and play against.
Thanks! I hope you enjoyed the coverage. Blue control can be quite rough for sure.
The GOAT is back! 🎉
It was great to get behind the mic again!
RETURN OF THE KING! Great to have you back commentating, especially on such a great match. Well played on both sides of the table.
I really do appreciate that! It was definitely a great match.
This was exciting to watch! I'm glad you got better and your commenting is back.
Glad you enjoyed it! It is definitely nice to feel better and not have the cough anymore. My voice still wasn't 100% when this was recorded, but it was great to get behind the mic again.
Sure, having the commentary back is awesome, but the better news is that you are well again.
I really do appreciate that! It was great to get behind the mic again.
What content from after the second set release will you be doing?
I will be releasing footage from the SCG 1k and 2k that took place over this weekend.
Glad to see you back, duuuude! Its another game when it comes with ur commentaries.
I really appreciate that! It was great to be behind the mic again.
The GOATED commentary returns! Love the content man <3
Thank you so much! It was great to get behind the mic again.
Man, what a whiff not choosing Bright Hope for the Avenger ability. That;'s the whole point of Bright Hope, you choose it and then Avenger's attack just fizzles out :/
I completely agree. Unfortunately, Josh was unaware that it worked that way. The players discussed it after the match.
In the second game why did steadfast battalion attack instead of come in exhausted?
Blake used the epic action ability on his base (Energy Conversion Lab) to play Steadfast Battalion and give it ambush. That allows you to attack with it into another unit right away.
@@Next-GenGamingSC thanks!
@@hellspawn8795 You're welcome!
Glad to have the commentary back, mate.
I was glad to be able to do it again! My voice was still not 100% when this was recorded, but I am finally getting there.
@@Next-GenGamingSC My friend and I both got hit hard by event plague at our local pre-release and it ruined our voices, so I can relate.
😂😂 After a major disturbance in the force ❤
Glad you enjoyed that!
When was this game?
Last weekend
This store showdown took place at the end of May.
Wanted to say great job with the channel - me and my brother just got a Starter Deck and found playing the game confusing despite having played other card games. Watched one of your videos and it was much clearer. Also enjoying studying the matches you have covered to understand the nature of tempo and relative value of each unit as I look to build my first deck and which style I might enjoy And you sound like a professional show host / sports commentator - clear and articulate, great tone and intonation... really amazing vocal presentation and easy to listen to while watching the game. It adds to the experience, without being distracting. Maybe you do this professionally, or maybe it's a new skill set, but either way, I hope you realize how naturally talented you are at this. It really comes across. And Fantasy Flight / LucasFilms / Disney... if you read this, hire this man to be the official commentator on your pro scene for sure _____ Ideas for videos: - Deck Tech & Sideboard Guides (helps me figure out the meta / which decks to build / invest in) - Short Interviews / Podcasts (aka. sideline interviews) with players who succeed in tournaments re: their decision making in deck building, the tempo of the game, matchups, etc. - Coverage of new cards coming out / spoilers and how they might impact the meta for constructed play and/or drafting These are some fun ideas, but watching the constructed gameplay and the excellent coverage you do is definitely the main reason I watched. My favourite channel for Draft/Constructed Magic: the Gathering is Nizzahon Magic. Perhaps check out his channel and some others in the Magic space to get more ideas on the types of coverage that these channels provide: www.youtube.com/@NizzahonMagic
Hi there! Thank you so much for the kind words. It is awesome to hear that you just started playing the game. It really is a fantastic game with great mechanics. I hope you and your brother continue to enjoy it and find a good local scene to get some organized play in. As for commentary, I do not currently do this professionally, but that is my goal. It is something I am very passionate about, and I am in the process of trying to take the right steps to move in the direction of making it a full-time career. I do appreciate all the ideas and will absolutely be checking out that channel, as I will look to improve my coverage of future events. Thanks for your support and for being a part of the channel!
The force is strong with this man’s voice, built for this content!
I really appreciate that!
Loved the scrolling intro!
Glad to hear that! I think it is a nice little touch.
Where you guys play?
We are in the Upstate of South Carolina and play at a few different stores in the Greenville area.
24:02 The most sus Force Choke ever. Perfect cardsharking by Andrew to deny his opponent the ability to read the "draw a card" text. (Maybe an honest mistake. I guess. )
David has an interesting shuffle technique.
It is interesting to see all the different shuffling techniques that players have.
Learning this game and the commentary is helping. Total pro.
Welcome to the game! It is a great one. I am also glad to hear that the commentary is helping. I have a passion for play-by-play commentary.
