The cycle Falkor and I met each other
This is my son Falkor on the light cycle (day) we found eachother. He had found his way into the garage of a house and was under a Volkswagen Beetle. I was talking to the owner when i heard a faint meow. I heard another and asked the owner if he knew if something was under the car. He said its been there a couple of days. Like what really? Guess he was waiting till he died and started to stink before doing anything. I bent down and there was Falkor; a gray ball of fluff as stinky as a garbage dump, thirsty as a desert and as hungry as a starved creature would be. He is a Special Energy operating a Polydactyle Norwegian Forest Cat suit. We have been together for 7 Sun Cycles (years) now through all sorts of ups and downs and couldn't have made it through without eachother. He has fulfilled my desire to care for another the same they care for me and am so grateful to be together and couldn't ask for a better friend.
Son, I so adore and admire you for all you are. Thank You Falkor James... Love your Daddy.

Just doing a real slow and smooth accel climbing this mountain from 45-70mph. Hit 18psi boost which is plenty as I adjusted the wastegate earlier down from 21psi due to fog rolling in which normally makes my boost go up quite a bit with a max EGT of 750-800°. I have the truck adjusted perfectly all around from the timing, to the fuel, to boost to get the best balance of fuel economy and perform...

      I've never actually gave the truck a real fair chance to not blow Head Gaskets. The first time was after I bought it with the original head gaskets, the second was because a shop didn't clean the block up and didn't tourqe the studs correctly, the third was because I reused old studs that had been over tourqed and stretched and used the weak mahle 6.5 std head gaskets on a questionable block surface. So I got a new ARP Stud kit, resurfaced the Block and Heads,checked for flatness, tourqed to 110ft-lbs instead of 120 and retarded the timing to keep combustion pressure down. It's been over a Sun cycle (year) since my repairs and all is well. I now blow exhaust gaskets instead of head gaskets lol

    Question from someone who currently has a 6.2 suburban. Did smacking a turbo and doing all the work that you have done actually opened up the truck? Like an actual power gain or really just turbo noises? Kind of sick of how much of an absolute DOG this big ole beast is. 0-60 maybe lol

    • @TheAscendedMaster
      @TheAscendedMaster หลายเดือนก่อน

      Compared to when I first bought the truck and was completely stock to now is a night and day difference in all aspects. The truck has 3xs the power it had stock, starts the first key turn each time, gets almost as good of fuel economy ( stock was 21-31mpg, now gets 18-28mpg loaded), can climb hills and accelerate as quick as I want, engine runs smoother, quieter, more efficient and cleaner, never gets hot and doesn't let me down, 0-60 went from 22 seconds to 10- 12 seconds and I can keep up with any Cummings, powerstroke or duramax if they want to race. So yes, the truck is substantially more powerful than before and a heck of a lot more fun and enjoyable.

Heck, I can barely hold my foot on the pedal or handle the steering wheel. But I'd still choose a TH400 over a manual. I like the TH400 a lot as it's the strongest tranny out there and has been since its debut. Upgrades are plentiful and it ain't gone out of style yet. Dudes are pulling the tranny from their new Camaro or pickup and putting a TH400 in and loving it. Sure it's a 3 speed but I still get 18-27+mpg in my rig right now loaded, which is probably the most impressive numbers for a Turbo 6.2/6.5 Diesel. I'll get this HD one built and be set for life.

      Well. Id worry about reliability vs power to start with. Power is great but if the engine can't perform and keep up then it'll only do more harm than good. Id start by getting your cooling system in order and fuel system. Inspect the Harmonic Balancer, make sure the pump and injectors are good and working properly, new timing kit ect I did every single reliability upgrade to my 6.2 before giving it more power to ensure that it could handle it and not have new problems arise as less than adequate systems fail to keep up.

But in order to determine if what is happening is "bad" or "natural" comes down to if it is going to harm rather than help or if with intent is set out to harm rather than help. Non really. If you have a good set of old '82 J Code Heads they will out perform 6.5 Heads if Turbocharged but have a high chance of failure if not properly maintained heat wise. The newer Heads have different metal in them to help with strength and prevent cracks but failures still happen. The only way to get more power from heads is if you have the fuel and air flow to match.
