The laces that came with my Redwings are thin, braided and stay nice well tied. The problem I have is that when tightening them, they tend to wear and abrade my pinky finger.

I think most of your issues may have been due to the unique fabrique weight. 33oz is ridiculously heavy for mine or most anyone's typical use, but I just ordered a my first custom purchase of Soso Yuki Deep Indigo 17.3oz japanese selvedge denim jeans in the classic fit but with decrease alterations for the knee and leg opening. Can't wait for them to arrive. Ps. Is that Indigo fade contest an annual and if so, how can I get into the next one, lol?

Do either company make laces for chukka boots? I can't find anything on either site under 40 inches

I never used the Mad Dog laces, but I have 4 pairs of Pisgah laces. It appears that they are now offering different lengths in the laces because I got some 54's (I believe) for my Iron Rangers and they work great. They also have a ton of colorways.

This is the best stuff on the market. I don’t care how my boots look, I’m not a fashion model. I’m a cowboy. So on the redwings I wear when running equipment, I usually put 3 coats on them of this. Same on the Justin boots I use for riding. Then over time I still use saddle soap to clean & then I’ll put a coat of bear grease.

Your demonstration was fine as far as it goes, but a 20 second test is in effect, pointless. Why not spray the water on the SnoSeal treated boot, let it sit there for 3 hours, then come back and show the result?

Informative video! I got some OldBlue Co 33oz denim and I've soaked them, and washed them and they are still stiff as a board. They are all buttons for the fly too and I can't even put the buttons in the holes because they are so stiff. Any recommendations on how to soften them or make them more pliable? I've been rolling them up in all kinds of directions and thought about folding them in half and then putting a cover on top of them and running them over with a car lol but that seems extreme. Any recommendations or advice is appreciated!

I got my pair ordered before the start of Y1, but went with a ODxJB collab. I ordered my rises too short which was my fault. However, I feel like they focused more on the fabric than the build quality. I still laugh when I randomly choose to wear these . They are just so ridiculous.

Good video! I have Sno-Seal, but I have yet to use it. I will also heat the boots with the Sno-Seal on them with a hairdryer, a technique I also use with dubbins and other waterproofing waxes.

I've used bear grease for years. I always coat the seams extra heavy. The instructions say to use 2 coats. I use 3. I've never had my feet get wet. Even in cheap boots. I agree with you. The best waterproofer / conditioner and really extends the boots life.

You lost my interest when you said Redwing~ they haven't made a decent boot in 25+ years. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Northern Republic was sold by the owner, the customer service issues were through the roof and MANY people are soured on the brand so i guess Greg decided to cut his losses. Anyway the shop is now owned by The Boot Repair shop on instagram. Super sad but 🤷‍♂️

They are emo jeans cause they cut themselves lol. Really cool jeans there and very awesome fades you don't see on the lower weights even on the 20oz.

Great vid but the heavy leather laces are the best for a wildland firefighter because 99 percent of sythetic or cotton laces with melt or burn while leather does not it might stretch some but won’t burn

That sole is a very impressive boot upgrade, that company does awesomeness! The only thing I thought was could they replace the speedhooks with a more quality product? Thanks for the video!

Glad I found this review! I have a pair of vivobarefoot chukka style boot and the eyelet holes are quit small. Would the smaller diameter lace work better? The pair they came with are those classic yellow and brown stripped ones and they don’t hold up at all.
