  • @cedric1760

    In case the battery is fully charged (measured by multimeter) but toothbrush doesn't turn on and vibrates 3 times to signal that battery should be charged. What you can do is cleaning battery connectors with contact spray. Then if still not working you can also reset the toothbrush by pluging the charger and put toothbrush on it then press power button for 2s with thé following sequence going : 1 beep 2 beeps 3 beeps then release and you should hear a melody. For me it fixed my issue after cleaning + resetting my sonycare. PS : huge thanks to the owner of this channel for the content quality.

    Thanks for this useful video. Unfortunately I think a nearby lightning strike has caused a pulse in the charging coil strong enough to fry the charging circuit, because the brush will now blink its charging light once or twice and then ‘crash.’ The charging light stays off or on until I push the button. The brush itself still works. Perhaps I can hack together a way to charge it via USB, but I think I'll just buy a new one and keep this one for spares… and put the new one in a metal box when there's another storm.

    • @alexanderthomas2660
      @alexanderthomas2660 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well, I was about to hack this thing to make it chargeable via USB, and I tested it once more, and surprise: it works again! Must have been a polyfuse that took a long time to reset after the surge. So, if your toothbrush behaves like I described above, don't panic and wait a few days, it might ‘heal’ by itself.

      If you had water inside there could be either damaged traces or shorted components. Two different states but same result. Your toothbrush fixing videos are the best I found so far. I would like to ask, since I haven't figured that out. My toothbrush has weird symptoms, at first I thought, just replacing the switch and fixing the gap would be sufficient, but when I turn the brush on it turns off immediately, all lights off too, the same happens if I switch to any mode when turned off and then press the power button instead of starting just turns off, again all lights off, with very short, less than a second long buzz. However, when I desolder the motor coil, the brush stays on, when I connect the coil it turns off. What might be the problem? I don't have an induction meter, to measure the inductance of the coil, but it's hard to imagine with such thick lacquer there could be a short in winding. I have Sonicare Flexcare. Thank you for the great job with the videos.

    Such a useful video! Some water got into mine and it stopped working suddenly. That rubber seal at the toothbrush end disintegrates with time unfortunately so water goes in and damages the unit. Slight rust on the magnet, lime scale at the base of the head shaft, and some moisture on the circuit board. Not good. Infuriating low quality for a pricey toothbrush! So very grateful for your video. The issues I have with this video though is that your hand is covering up some key bits. Parts not shown well are: 1. 4:47 - The clips holding back the case rear cover. Show us a closeup of the tabs once you take it out, so we understand which way to loosen the tabs with a screwdriver. I spent half a day on this trying every possible way. You have to go on the LONG SIDE not short side, go behind the tabs and press in toward the center on both sides. Keep thin screwdriver in place while working on other side so both loosen same time, then you push on the head and it pops out. It is these little things that are important. 2. 4:43 - You don't show exactly how that center black rubber piece is removed and how it is one piece, not a covering to be peeled off. You bent the middle with toward the circuit board, then this piece pops out. Actually, I found you don't need to bend it which can damage the circuit board. The board slides back and forth on its tracks, making a gap to take this piece out. 3. Not shown is how the circuit board pops out, I am struggling there. The key is to slide the circuit board toward the battery. Once the center spring comes out, there is room to slide the circuit board back. Insert a fine flat screwdriver under the black plastic of the circuit board (not green plastic) and lift up the two tabs, one behind the other. Out it pops. You have to slide it down for the tabs to come out as the hole widens. I cleaned up the head shaft area too. A rubber cap on the shaft is torn in my case which led to water going in, so this should be inspected and replaced if you can find this part! Else, repair it or improvise to seal off the head from water. Thank you for a great video! I am hoping mine works after recharging.

    Some units have a small hole in the end cap. With an air compressor, you can pressurize the case through the hole and the cap will pop out. No hole? Drill a 1/16 or 1.5mm hole with a hand drill. Do not go beyond the cap, which is only about 3mm thick at that point. CAUTION: As you do this, use your fingers to support the silicone seal at the brush head end. Otherwise, the air might pop a hole in the seal. Other units have a 6mm closed hole in the c=end cap. a 1/4-20 cap screw or bolt will thread into the hole with just enough grip to pull the cap off with zero damage.

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Would not recommend this method as this small hole has a membrane on it to let small amounts of moisture out from the inside. When you make a hole even if you seal it then these small amounts of moisture would be trapped inside... You can destroy the upper seal and use compressor to pop the bottom cap off but you need to change the rubber seal in that case. My method when used correctly leaves the rubber seal and bottom cap in tact and you can reassemble the toothbrush without any damage..

    little push from the side of the fuse with a small screw driver fixed my issue as well. . If not for your video I wouldn't have known what the fuse and where it is placed. Thank you so much for sharing. I had this problem in two toothbrushes. Both are working now. Thank you again for saving a lot of money.

    Thank god for your video. Had the same problem. I disambled my toothbrush and put gently pressure on the fuse, and, it worked so far. But I look if I can get one fuse to change it. And my older Oral-B model was opened by turning the bottom. But the genius is different. Like you mentioned. 👍🫡

    My non-IO9 brush no longer charges... I didn't find any broken connections, the battery is fine... Do you have any suggestions on how to fix it?

    Lol I never thought that hammering the toothbrush will work, but indeed it does the trick, thanks a lot.

    Super. It works like a charm. This is the original fuse: MF-PSML300/6-2, PPTC SMD POLYMER PTC 3.0A/6.

    Have io5 series, just stop to work, no lights on buttons, short lights appears when I put it on charge and push both buttons. Reset, battery remove, didn't affect. What could be a problem? Can new battery help with this issue?

      @letsfixitgarage 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If the battery hold charge, doesn't discharge - doubt it... If there was water inside need to remove motherboard as usualy more damage is on the back side...

      Thank you for the answer, will check, but as I remember there was no visible water leak.

    Great video! One more question - on the shaver head there is a release button on the left and a lock button on the right. My lock button fell out. I tried to reinsert it but it’s loose and keeps falling out. How do I get it to stay in place?

      Sorry haven't tried to take the head apart.. only on series 9 and haven't managed to get it back together... Very delicate work... After that haven't tried to get in to series 7 head :)

    Thank you now I know where to start mine is the 2.0 and had fallen off my table and after that I hadn't worked since but wash works I wasn't able to select cure and I didn't see any blown capacitors or burn marks on any of the boards.

      Yes IO series tends to accumulate much more dirt as the older genius brushes.. interesting how will they hold up with water tightness with that kind off dirt..

    Hi 19:28 you say the head has the side pieces that are not recomended to be taken out as they ahve springs to release the shaving head - one of mine came off when I dropped it, and I cant see how to reattach - pressumably the springs need to be correctly relocated somehow?

      I have seen videos on TH-cam on how someone takes them apart and reassembles them.. sorry don't have them on hand but they are there... a lot of very delicate work..
