    My Father passed away a week ago and my Mother has given me his Braun Series 9. I've spent the last day cleaning it and thought to myself, "I really need to clean it"...this is the perfect teardown and rebuild guide that has helped me bring his shaver back to life and give me a great memory of my Dad. Thank you so much.

    After seeing your video, I ordered a new head, followed your instructions and, in doing so, restored my Series 9 to "as-new" condition. No more vibration and noise just a clean smooth shave. Enjoyed your video and appreciate your patient and thorough demonstration with the more delicate parts. Well done sir! Thank you very much!

    Thanks for your video. My series 9 was failing - blue lock light - so using your video as a guide I stripped mine down to the chassis and found a filthy mess of old whiskers and possibly moisture. I did not start popping off clips, I just cleaned it thoroughly and now it starts and remains working, although blue lock light comes on occasionally. Anyway I’m happier now than I was thanks to you

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you suspect moisture I would suggest to pop the clips and inspect inside.. if water got inside it is very difficult for it to get out..

  • @myradiovideos

    Thanks for the Video!! Got the replacement motor and following your instructions it went together good.
    I also purchased the small ROUND screwdriver as well! That came in handy also.. The new head comes with a new gasket. So when you go to put in the new head it is stiff to insert. I used a small amount of Vaseline on the gasket to reduce the friction.
    For me you need to press in the new head and at the same time secure the 2 screws that hold it in. As long as you have some manual dexterity it will work fine..
    I would recommend you watch the "Entire" video a few time's, then take it apart step by step starting and stopping the video as you move through the process. Keep all the removed parts in order as you disassemble the unit, that helps and have a lot of good lighting as well..
    The process took me about 45 minutes..
    Robert

I managed to fix it by removing the battery and forcing a reset of the device. Thank you very much for the video. I’m impressed by how no one talks about the problems with this device: the Braun Pro S9. This is the second one I’ve bought with the same issue. The company should better inform its customers. @@mohamdi4964 Not too sure what you mean by 2 inside trimmers because I can only see one. My problem was the center trimmer came off. if you have more stuff broken, I am not too sure how to help. I would suggest that you disassemble the whole shaver like in the video and put it back. As for the trimmer, the most difficult is to get the position of the spring correct, it took me awhile, but once you figure out where the spring should be then it becomes easier to fix.

    I bought the shaver a year and a half ago. In the month of April this year, the device started turning on by itself and I took it to an authorized Braun service center. After a few days I was sent photos of the disassembled shaver showing the mechanisms and circuit board covered in mold and moisture. I was told that the shaver was working normally and was issued without repair. I was advised not to use it for wet shaving and not to rinse with water, which surprised me greatly.

    My series 9 kept turning off after a few seconds of use, so I figured the battery was dead. I was originally going to have it serviced, since I figured the insides would be like a smartphone (i.e the seal gets destroyed when you open it and it's almost impossible to correctly position a replacement seal) but your video showed that it's actually pretty simple! I ordered a new battery, opened up my shaver, popped in the replacement battery and now it's back in action! I also cleaned it while I was in there, somehow the insides had gotten FULL of beard trimmings! Thanks for your video!

      Difficult to say. I saw comments under this video that it's possible to order the whole motor head at Braun. It's easy to exchange the whole motor unit. Thanks for this great video. Very helpful and reassuring to see it done before attempting by oneself.
    I take great care of my Series 9 and am very gentle with it. I always clean regularly on schedule, but recently began experiencing that noisy head. I have replaced the cassette and still get the noise and when I hold the head by hand and put pressure while shaver is on, the noise is gone so I know it is the vibration from the swivel contact points which you mentioned. Is there any way to repair instead of replacing? Perhaps filling in with some material to make the swiveling parts tighter and less room for vibration? Thank you.

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not attempted to do that.. additionally as said in video it is not an easy task to disassemble the head. I saw few videos here on TH-cam instructing how to do it but it's very precise and time consuming job. Have not attempted it. Would advise to look for these videos before attempting to do it by yourself:) apart from that I think it would be doable to fill the hole with liquid plastic or something else and redo a little hole.. difficult to say how long it will hold and why in some cases original material fails..

    I bought two of these, BOTH had the on/off button fall off. I am extremely careful with my stuff so these must have a design flaw. One fell off around 9 moths and the other fell off around 15 months. I only shave twice per week so these don't even get used much.

    • @letsfixitgarage

      Could be, as the button legs that hold it in place are tiny... Accordingly small defect in plastic extrusion could have huge impact on longevity..

    I talked to a service center and was told the microchip board is not user replaceable because it has to be programmed that is unique to the shaver before it works. I have no idea what tools/programmer is needed and what exactly has to be programmed/flashed into the board?

    • @letsfixitgarage

      If you want to replace only the main chip, maybe. But if you replace the whole board I can not agree.. there is no other components only the Mainboard, motor drive, battery and case.. what do you want to program here.. maybe they had in mind clean station support as some units are programmed to support it and others won't..

    Thanks, I purchased a spare used unit on ebay. I used this to take it apart and clean it with an air compressor and rubbing alcohol. The used unit seems to rattle the head unit and sound louder. If I push down on the head a little, its quieter, or if I use it in lock mode its quieter. You talked about the head having a piece on the sides that make it louder. Is this fixable any way without replacing the head? It cuts fine, just louder than my new unit. Thanks, great video.

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats the Problem. Head is plastic and arms are metal. Plastic gets worn out and loud working starts... • @rscle5

      @@letsfixitgarage Thanks for the reply...I got the unit used for like $80 as a spare, so I don't want to spend more money to fix it because it works fine, its just a little loud. It has a more of a buzz sound than the brand new unit I got. I wonder if you could lodge something like a thin piece of plastic or rubber between the metal piece to soften the plastic vibrating sound. Not a big deal, just wondered. Have a nice day. Thanks!

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haven't tried inserting anything, but kind of doubt if that would be a long time solution, more like short term.. I would say it's simply a design flaw of manufacturer as old series 7 doesn't have this issue only series 9..
