We are really liking the Truma propane furnace in the Escapod. We also have a propane fire pit made out of an ammo canister.

Hello Jim. Was about to say that about your ranger went out that quick. Just the way everything is built now a days. Our catalytic converter went out in our f 150 and the regular warranty covered it. We only had about 50k 4 years on it.

I am a retired mechanic with over 35 years of on the job experience. I was also a licensed California smog test and repair technician. The concerning thing for me on your truck is why the catalytic converter failed. Typically a catalytic converter will last just about forever Unless it is exposed to excessive fuel or excessive oil or both. I admittedly am not a fan of a Ford motor company based on what I’ve seen in my experience. That said if a vehicle works for you that’s the vehicle to own. Personally, I would be doing research as I’m sure you are as to pattern failures with catalytic converters on your model truck. Being proactive may prevent such a failure in the future. Yeah, Blanco state park is not big on hiking trails, but the swimming in the summer is great. And the town is fun to explore. There's a great fabric store and antique store in town, nice restaurants, a cool brewery, and a buggy museum.

The cat on my 2005 Honda Pilot is the original along with all the emissions components, engine and trans. I should have bought two of them. I sold my 2007 Ram Cummins 5.9 with 230K and the cat was the original.

Extended warranties are an obvious scam. Forget all the loopholes, they take away the choice of using quality repair parts if they don't renege. If you just listen to the dealership salesman or watch the TV commercials they are screaming we are scammers, stay away!

I changed the catalytic converter to normal when you tow vehicles and long idle running. I replaced over 3000 catalytic converters. You might want to check if the turbo starts losing oil in the exhaust.

My 2023 with 15,000 miles is currently at the dealership due to getting an average 13 mpg under normal driving conditions. I'm at the end of the lease, and I really want to buy out the lease but not with that issue.

this is interesting There is nothing to go wrong is a Cat. one could put a million miles and it should still work the thing that is going wrong here is that it is plugging up may be oil or some thing you have other problems my friend

I dumped my new Toyota after a year and a half after having so many problems with it. At this point I'm ready rebuild a older modded car. Everything seems to have gone to throwaway instead of fixing now days, including the engines and transmissions. My 32 year old toy that was driven hard is still going fine. I've been able to do minor repairs without needing to take it to a dealer after replacing something like a battery.

Many mfg's are producing crap and they don't care. They just want your money. To BLEEP with treating customers fairly and wanting to keep them as customers. Me personally will never knowingly buy any turbocharged engine.

Catalytic converters hate ethanol fuel. Depending on your area some places don’t sell ethanol free fuel or if they do it’s in premium only.

The quality is going down. The main 2 problems is plastic and electronics.

What about adding a bottle of Cataclean to your gas to clean the cat?

Good on the dealer for taking care of you! You have a nice truck...I have thought about one of those trucks, but I am not buying a turbo engine as long as I can buy something else...and the Ranger is not available with a non-turbo engine...SO, that leaves me out. I have an F150 2WD with a 3.5 naturally aspirated engine producing 288hp....it does everything that I need it to do...and it gets over 20mpg in city driving...gets 25mpg on hwy. At any rate, you have a really nice truck and glad you are enjoying it.

I have a 2000 ford ranger and got the engine light. Took it in and it was sucking a valve on each side. Was told that ford does not all rebuilding those heads and needed new heads. Sold it as is and would never buy a v6 ranger

I thought emissions parts cats etc were lifetime warranty. That said, new cars, rolling laptops, are trash. 17 computers have to agree before it will run. Filled with high explosives. Backup camera can brick your car. Sorry, I'll keep my 80s cars - small block fords and chevys. Bulletproof and repairable. In California and Illinois cars made in 1975 are required to pass emissions at same levels as factory from 50 years ago. Makes me wonder if those are still covered since they are required or sell the car in Alabama.

I have a 22 F250 Godzilla. A cat went out at 20k. Another 20k and so far so good.

Good review. Do some homework on Direct Fuel Injection. The industry is still learning the gotchas of this technology change.
