The weather in Alaska postponed our Fly out charter for the day, but Alaska FishOn Adventures was able to shuffle things around and get us on some fish. Quick bit of advice for visitors to AK - do NOT let your guide fillet your fish like this. You are losing about 20% of the meat. From the side your fillet should look like a steep triangle. Because a lot of meat is along the backbone. This “guide method” of filleting will give you a flat fillet, because it’s missing all of that backbone meat. They do it this way because it’s fast and it’s not their fish so they don’t care.

    What a joke ! They call this fishing Alaskan style. It's just a snagfest. The guys using fly rods are deluding themselves if they think this is fly fishing. They have no respect for the fish and the sport of fishing. A friend who has just returned from the Kenai would never ever go back. It's a disgrace that US fish and wildlife allow this to continue.

    • @user-sj6fe9or2g
      @user-sj6fe9or2g 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s just a meat harvest fishery. And no one who fishes for these salmon with a fly rod considers it fly fishing. It just a tool, kinda like you. Stay home. We don’t want your kind here anyway. And tell your buddy to stay home too. Miss out on the best trout fishery in the world for the rest of your lives. Some of the most legit fly fishing on planet earth. Your just mis informed too and your buddy was guided by a fool which this river is getting full of. So be careful who you hire up here these days.

    5 minutes at over 300' with a good 100+ lbs fish on. I want to see that. ...oh, rods are staying in the holders. okay, that's possible then. part way in now. You're having a good day, the charter kept you on top of fish.

      yeah. overnight FedEx was $450 this year for a #46 box to a friend AZ plus the price of the box. I've done it both ways, checking it is less expensive but has its own struggles plus air lines can lose the boxes.

      They notch the tail with a knife. Example, theres 3 groups of 4 on the boat. group 1 would get 1 notch, group 2 would get 2, etc. very accurate and efficient.

Question, if driving (not flight) from US through Canada and back - can we take with us fish? Any limitations or restrictions? If somebody has experience pls let me know.
