Absolutely the best narrated guided escort railroad videos! This is absolutely my favorite format and you are great at it ! Perfect soundtrack and videography!
Fantastic work. I have to remind myself to be appreciative of what IS there today, and not spend too much time lamenting why this line is discontinued or that customer decided to switch from rail to delivery-by-drone, or whatever…nothing gold can stay. Carpe Diem, etc etc… I love the shots of weeded over lines running thru the brush and trees. It’s a good metaphor for life. Sure, they’re rusted over and forgotten…but you still get a feeling when you walk down an abandoned line somewhere in the back of your head - you never fully know what might be coming around the next turn…
Beautifully said Swain! You nailed it exactly. There’s a lot of history, and at every time of change people are disappointed, but also new fans are born. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Hey, Jeremy! Thanks again for the great coverage of some of my favorite short lines! Man, it was rough to lose the Corvallis switcher job; I always enjoyed seeing 2005 rumbling through the area. She's a beautiful locomotive. And perhaps the Corvallis switcher will be back some day, since a glue-lam manufacturer has announced plans to purchase the former Interfor facilities in Philomath and build a new plant nearby. We'll hope for the best! Keep up the great work, Jeremy!
Let’s hope it opens up new rail business! It sucks seeing the switcher go. Totally agree. Makes me wish I’d been out more to see it. Praying for a booming economy and growing rail demand.
Hi Jeremy, Thanks for capturing more footage of our wonderful train action in Oregon. Always a pleasure to watch and I love the information on the history of each branch line. We actually met at the Williams loop for the run of 4014 big boy with the western pacific sd70ace in tow. I was wondering when you might be presenting that footage? It was very nice meeting you and look forward to your videos in the future. Erik
@ I remember Eric! From the coast as I recall. Yes sir; I’ve got the feather river trip coming this fall along with the Goose Lake RR, UP Donner Pass trip, and concluding the Modoc. Oh, and the Blue Mountains. It’s gonna hopefully all be out by new years. Fingers crossed! Really glad you mentioned the Big boy trip! Good meeting you!
I'm only a little bit into this, and LOVING it! I've bookmarked it as I will not only enjoy it now, but many times over. I've always been very curious about some of these lines (both in use and not), the history, and the scenery is great!!!
Your telephoto lens really captures the undulating topography up there in the Willamette Valley. What a beautiful, gorgeous region! I’m quite envious… not being able to get up that way more! So, please know how very much appreciated your efforts and artistry are to us! Simply fantastic! Thank you!!!!
Oh, for the days of the Westsider that departed Albany with blocks for Gerlinger, McMinnville, P&W north (St Marys area), Newberg, and Willamina. Out of McMinnville, the train became the Mac Hauler and we would pick up east-bound traffic (going to the P&W at St Marys or one of the sidings in the area, including Bryant, Tigard Ramp, or Beburg) and depart Newberg northward over Rex Hill with a conglomeration of cars. I worked the Mac Hauler the summer of 2002 after being bumped out of Albany. Thanks for the video and stirring the memories, Jeremy!
It’s a pleasure for me; and I’m grateful for your willingness to share photos from those better days! I never saw any trains over Rex hill. I was just a little too late to the party for most of the late SP/ W&P days. Love seeing your pictures from that period.
I worked at Rickreall farm supply back in the 90s. I had to use one of those winch/pully systems to move grain cars. 1, I was always terrified that the chain would just flat out break, 2, you could only move the car one way. So... if you pulled it too far, you were screwed. I had to move a hopper back once with our flatbed cabover. Not a fun day. It moved it, but again, I had little faith in the chain holding up. The augers under the tracks were also a bit scary. Didn't want to get a foot in one of those!
Wow! It’s great to hear a first hand account of someone who was there! I wouldn’t want to have to push or pull a hopper without the aid of a locomotive! Thank you very much for sharing!
FYI - the burned timber trestle at Sherwood was replaced with a steel and concrete trestle and the line between Tigard and McMinnville is still intact though not used. I think it may be saved for the possibility of commuter rail service in the future.
Western Oregon RxR is such an interesting corkscrew of track. I live in Western Washington and it seems that region has lost alot of it's minor track character. Glad to see there's some RxR operators making hay on minor lines and we have you providing fine documentation thereof.
Is that just south of town right by the track? I’ve stopped there twice now! Really a delightful place! I’ve gotten coffee both times and picked up treats! Definitely going to stop every time!
@pacificrailproductions5281 Yes, glad you found the little pie shop! Their chicken pot pie is like having biscuits & gravy with loads of chicken in it, worth taking home to the family along with a fruit pie too!
Great video. Love the backroads (railroads) look at Oregon and the industries that are in this part of the state. Great information about the local railroad. Excellence all the way around.
Wonder what the story is behind those passenger cars. They could definitely be restored and used on a tourist train operation; maybe along the Coos Bay line?

Just another great presentation. Thanks for posting. Something about hearing an EMD 645 prime mover ignites my primitive nature!
I think we’re on the same wave length! Here’s to another 10 years of hearing them!
Wow Jeremy! What an outstanding video! Can’t wait to see more!

I think it’s my most scenic Oregon video yet. Thanks Ted! Lots in it, I hope you do enjoy it!
What an amazing talent you have for capturing such beautiful scenes! (Again…) thanks so much for sharing it all with us! Just fantastic!
That brings a smile to my face! Thank you friend for the kind words! Very welcome

I hope one day I can go Railfan that line, it is definitely a fun railroad, amazing video Jeremy.

Ok. I was looking around the FB trainoshphere and missed that it was repaired! That’s positive news!

@@arthurschipper8906 I thank you Arthur; I am grateful so many short lines are still alive here! Hope they live long! Thanks for the support.

Hello from Los Angeles! As always an excellent video. Thanks!
Thank you!
I’ll take some of that LA sunshine up here in Oregon right now!
You should get some video of it going through adair village
I live next to the train tracks in Lebanon Oregon and I saw a couple trans carrying log cars in 2024
