Hidden cabinet
I found some unused square footage in my house. I cut open the drywall, built a shelf to hold a cabinet, built a cabinet with fixed and adjustable shelves, and then built something (picture/panel/art?) to hide the cabinet.
Here's a link to the jig I used to drill the holes for the shelf pins - worked great:

    Great Video! I personally would have just grabbed power from tapping into the switch next to the fan switch, just tap power from the bottom so those switches on that wall all run on the same breaker. Plus it saves having to run extra wire since romex costs a fortune!

    • @ilyfreezi
      @ilyfreezi หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@triptheroadcorrect, just cut out another spot next to it to fit a receptacle box or fit in one of them old work boxes. Then just tap power from the switches next to it. Tapping into switches is not against code but you cannot tap more than an acceptable amount they claim, not sure what an acceptable amount is? 4? 5? ehh who knows 🤷‍♂️

    • @triptheroad
      @triptheroad หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ilyfreezi yeah luckily there was an open spot in the existing 3-gang box since I deleted a previous owner or contractor's botched attempt to properly wire a 3-way circuit. Thank you for this. I'm modifying your build to my application. I'm building an extended depth medicine cabinet, of sorts. No shelves. I'm leaving the back open to access towels from the bathroom that are stored in a hallway linen closet. The bathroom shares a wall with said linen closet. So, the 'medicine cabinet' above the sink will look like a mirrored medicine cabinet but it's actually an access door to the adjoining linen closet. In the future I will add a proper medicine cabinet, following your build, to the side of the sink, like yours.
