Kawasaki Versys X 300 - D.I.D. Chain installation with D.ID. KM500R Chain Tool
มุมมอง 3.5K6 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I install a D.I.D. VX2 520 X-Ring Chain on the Kawasaki Versys X 300 with a rivet style master link and the D.I.D. KM500R Chain Tool. After installing the chain, you will still need to properly align the rear wheel/chain, set the correct chain slack, and torque the rear axle. Your motorcycle chain is a critical component of the drivetrain and the safe operation of your bike. If yo...
Kawasaki Versys X 300 - 15 Tooth Sprocket Installation
มุมมอง 47K6 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I install a 15 tooth sprocket on the Kawasaki Versys X 300. The sprocket spaces the shifting points out a bit more than the stock 14 tooth. It also let's the bike rev a little lower at any given speed. Sorry about the typos in the captioning... I was in a hurry getting this finished. One note that is not that obvious in the video - Before torquing down the sprocket nut, I tightene...
Versys X Updates - 15 Tooth Sprocket, Chain, AdMore Light Bar Fail
มุมมอง 24K6 ปีที่แล้ว

Kawasaki Versys X 300 Ricochet Skid Plate Installation
มุมมอง 14K6 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I install the Ricochet Skid Plate on the Kawasaki Versys X 300. I did have some fitment issues with the rear engine mount bolt, as the one supplied was too short. UPDATE - After the video was made, I emailed them and got this response... "We had a shipping error on some of the first plates where we sent the wrong bolt. I will get the correct one right out to you. I’m not sure abou...
Kawasaki Versys X 300 - Engine Guards, LED Lights and Front Bodywork Installation
มุมมอง 14K6 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I install the factory engine guards on the Kawasaki Versys X 300, along with the auxiliary LED kit and reinstall the front body panels. As you can see the front bracket that the engine guards attach to is not that robust. Plus one of the supplied bolts broke very easily. Could just be an anomaly for that bolt, but it was something that causes me concern for the engine guards.

In this video I tidy up some of the wiring I installed for several add-on farkles and the ABS cutoff switch mod to the Kawasaki Versys X 300. The video is rather short and you can find more info in the final wrap up video after this. That will cover where most of the connections are, etc.
Kawasaki Versys X 300 Farkle Progress Update
มุมมอง 9K6 ปีที่แล้ว
Just a progress update on what I got accomplished over the weekend. More install videos to come for this stuff! Confirmed the ABS on/off mod does work. Some thoughts on the how bright the dash light LED switch is and and still dealing with the Madstad rattle, though it has been reduced.

Another useless video of a guy working that explains almost nothing.😂
@@ronaldjohnson7905 You sound like a delightful person. Whiner.
Great video on the disassembly. I wish I'd found this prior to my disassembly. I embarked on a similar project. Accessory wiring for heated grips, USB outlet, aux lights, heated gear, and gps power. In addition I swapped the turn signals, headlight, and running lights to LED. I was able to unbolt the rear of the tank and lift it an inch or so without uninstalling it. This allowed me to run my auxiliary harness along side the main harness on the right side of the bike.
Rachet strap and Paracord method worked for me, genius suggestion. Had to hook it up to my truck hitch though and have my wife hold the bikes front brake 😂😂
the front sprocket, a big difference in changing gears too quick on take off, quieter on sound?
Hey Man! I just want to say THANK YOU very very much! I had to add some wiring for my Garmin Zumo XT. This video was invaluable. The job went smooth and without a hitch. Thank you again for your time and effort in making this video and the others you have made.
You're very welcome! Glad the videos have helped others!
the usb outlet was nice and easy to install but im too scared to do auxiliary lights because i dont know how to do wiring unless its plug and play :(((
Good call on the led.
what sucks is the work up too 11 minutes is what you have to do to change the headlight in this thing
Can change it without dismantle
@@Fiatmannen1 i did figure that out .. thank god.
Thank you so much. Ratchet strap and some wire worked great.
92NM is the torque for the front sprocket ?
Ft lbs. Whatever that converts to in Nm.
Excellent! You would think that a 12 volt socket would be a standard accessory in this day and age of smart phones, GPS units, Action Cam, etc. It's a basic need . . .
I changed to a 15t and it makes a big difference to the bike - and mine will pull 12k revs in top gear !
Well done, you will probably have found that the stock chain is relatively crap and has only slightly less stretch than a rubber band. It's my second Versys-X and I have ditched the stock chain before the equivalent of 5000 miles. I'm thinking about interrupting the power to the rear wheel solenoid of the ABS at the fuse Box. Is this what you have done at a different spot?
Getting the side panels off is easy, but be careful that you don't lose any of the rubber grommets. Those little rubber doughnuts tend to be pulled out of the frame a little too easily.
Large zip tie through the sprocket & around the swing arm👍👍
What kind of screwdriver are you using to get those? I noticed that round indent so it’s an Allen wrench that gets those screws off. I’ve got the 300 versys I am adding Givi Tanklock Bike Specific Flange
Isn't there a relay with a cable for this specific add?
Shout out to this guy for giving a part number. As a autozone worker this guy speaks my language.
Very well thanks !!
They are called Splines that you are supposed to grease. All splines should be including shift lever to shift shaft etc...
Здравствуй мото друг , ты ещё ездишь на этом мотоцикле? / Hello moto friend, do you still ride this motorcycle?
Yes I do!
I reference back to these videos that are still relevant in late 2022. Thanks for blazing the trail on all these wiring mods.
Glad to help!
Doggo doesn't get a motorcycle ride ?!
the windscreen looks as big as the one on my scooter, while it is big and thick, not sure if it would obstruct the handle from turning all the way with handle guard install. I had tried several windscreen and some of those have this issue
The windshield does not obstruct the handlebars or anything else. For me, this size works well.
The windshield looks to be decently thick & Have far better coverage but you're joking with that tank bag right? That thing doesn't even closely fit that bike or tank. Looks like an accident waiting to happen, getting in your way while flapping in the wind several inches off the tank. Save a few dollars & get ill-fitting, clearance priced, hazardous gear or maybe wait & spend a few more dollars for the correct size & proper fitting gear that won't cause any issues? Hmm? That's a tuff one.
The tank bag is rigid and connects to a quick release bracket on the tank. It doesn’t flap or move at all while riding. Other than looking a tad awkward with the gap, it by no means is hazardous or would interfere with safely operating the motorcycle. Yes it was cheaper by over $100 less than the model that would fit with a more appealing look, and I’m okay with the slightly odd fitting look. None of these model bags actually rest on the tank anyway. The base is rigid with the connection being only to the bracket. I think this one was for Suzuki V-Strom tank shapes and was on clearance.
All these critics on here lol. He didn’t claim to be a master mechanic. Just sharing what he did on his bike. Some people are so unappreciative.
Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
I have a new chain and 15 / 45 sprockets I will be putting on hopefully tomorrow.. I have a 2017 X300.
Hi, how is the bike, still got it? Have you checked the valve clearances yet? All the best from the UK.
Hi! I do still have the x300 and it is great. I’ve since added some side bags, new tires and a Yoshimura slip on exhaust. I checked the valves at 7500 miles and the 2 exhaust valves on cylinder #1 were a hair tight so I put in new shims. All others were perfect. I also changed the fork oil, re-greased the steering bearings, swing arm bearings, linkages etc. I added a new rear Hyperpro shock as well. I wish I had time to make videos of all that but work and other things made it tough to have time to document and create videos. I’ll see about going an update video later in the summer on everything. Currently traveling across the country (not on the bike, haha).
Does the Versys 300 run hot when in city?
On hot days it will go up to 4 bars in traffic or stop and go city riding, etc... the fan will come on and it will go back down to 3. Seems perfectly normal. Make sure you have the correct amount of coolant (changed every few seasons), proper oil level and I wouldn't worry about it. It is designed to run that way. Your car does the same thing but the temp gauge just doesn't move around as much (by design, so people won't worry).
@@Versysxnet thank for the reply. I've had the versys for 7 maybe 8 months and it runs very good no problems.
I've found that when putting the side covers back on if you lube the center holes of the grommets with wd40 the panels pop back into place easier with less chance of the grommet pushing through to the inside.
Yes, you can use something to help them slide, Vasoline works well also.
Yes good job !!
use some rubber grease. also helps the stay pliable
damn, this stuff is so frustrating.
That's all part of the fun!
Why didn't you say what sprocket come the bike, why your changing it and results. Most normal people can already do what your video shows.
Why don’t you make your own video where you can explain all these things for all the normal people who can already do this? If you already know how to do this procedure on this model bike, why are you even watching this video? I believe it’s well known to those interested in the X300, that it comes with a 14T sprocket. A common modification is to change to a 15T in order to adjust the gearing ratio. I’m also pretty certain all this information is mentioned and discussed in the video and comments.
how much do crash bars weigh?
I don’t know offhand. I’m sure you can look that up online. These are the factory crash bars from Kawasaki.
Does this sprocket make the bike faster?
No, it just changes the gear ratio. if you’re looking for a fast bike, this is not the motorcycle for you.
@@Versysxnet when you changed sprocket, then you don't go through gears so quick?
Great video. The only thing I have to say is that if that front circuit is rated for 5amps, you could have put the USB sockets there as well. You figured your lights use about 2 amps, leaving 3 amps extra at 12v, so 36 Watts. Your USB outlets use 4.8A at 5v, so that's only 24 Watts. Still extra available power.
That is true, but I believe the 2 outlet USB I put in was rated at a possible max of 4.8A (it will do fast charge on both outlets if you want), so I put it on a whole separate circuit with it's own fuse.
I find with the larger sprocket I cannot reach the full revs at higher speeds which loses top end speed also I find that the engine struggles with a light passenger. I believe with the original sprocket I would not be bogged down and this problem would be solved. Although I will not change back as I go off road a lot and can stay in 1st for long periods so it keeps me from the redline.
I don’t find it to struggle with getting to full revs at higher speeds, however… we are taking about a 300cc bike here with a lot of drag. It’s really not a highway cruiser. I’ve had a passenger on it only a few times and it does ok with the 15T, not great, but again… 300cc. I weigh 195lbs and I’d guess I have 30-40lbs of add-ons to the bike over bone stock. I don’t do any true off-roading, mostly county dirt back roads, fire roads, two-tracks and well worn trails. I also rarely take it on the highway, as I feel the bike is most fun at speeds under 70 mph.
The good news, for this bike here in the U.K. is that its sold all led lights...
I wish that was the case in the US when it first came out. Newer models may be updated here, but mine is the first model year and the headlight is not that great. I didn’t upgrade to LED retrofit because halogen reflectors aren’t designed for LED and I can’t stand drivers who retrofit to LED and blind oncoming traffic. The taillight is ok to put in an LED, and I did, but not the turn signals. I’d need a relay mod to use LEDs for turn signals.
Is it 2017???
Yes. This is a 2017 x300.
Very nice! I asked because here where I’m, there on 2017,2018 and looks like uk won’t do business with this model at all…
@@ALL-gr4gu I’m not sure what you mean. But all the model years to my knowledge are the same other than color and some cosmetic changes. Some markets only have the X as a 250cc (India and Asia I believe. Maybe elsewhere also.)
Well, in Brasil 🇧🇷 they got new x300 cosmetic as you mentioned. However, don’t you think they’re coming with better qualities parts? Otherwise, why they would sale it cheaper here, do u know what I mean?
Which year model is that Versys X300, please ?????
2017. There have been only color and cosmetic changes (stickers and graphics) since then to my knowledge.
Thanks for tip on spring install, my 300x kept sliding back and had to pry the last cm with a flat screwdriver to get it over the hump. 2021 be safe and Be Good to others remember it's WE the People :)
hello. on the contrary, I put the rear star on 2 teeth more, 48 teeth.
Yes, you can change either sprocket to change up the gearing, but it cannot vary from stock more than 10-12% I believe, otherwise the ECU will throw a fault code. Rear sprockets are also more expensive and harder to install.
Torque wrench???$ shit boy ill throw that nut on with an adjustable wrench cross threaded as hell and trust it enough to do a wheelie with your wife on the back!
Hi! What about the motorcycle?
It’s great!
I'm dealing with the roaring wind noise in the helmet with the stock windshield. Tried a number of small changes and it makes a difference but noise is just so annoying so maybe the Madstad. How is the windshield doing to deal with the wind? You've had if for years and would make a great review.
It’s better with the Madstad AND I added a Puig clip on spoiler thing. I’m very happy with that combo. Helmet makes a difference also. I have a LS2 3/4 face and it’s much quieter than the Nolan I had. And cheaper. I think Givi makes a windscreen for the x300 now and it looks like it might work really well too.
I'm thinking of buying this bike. I'm curious about your experiences with the original and the taller seat. Was the taller seat still too hard? I was thinking the taller would be better in that you'd have just that more cushioning. Thanks..
The taller seat is just as hard, but the shape is a little narrower so I find it a bit better. I also like that it tapers up onto the tank (nicer looking). For $200 you’d probably be better off putting that money towards a custom seat, otherwise you’ll end up modifying the tall seat or adding other things to make it work. I sold my original for $100 to recoup some of the cost. And with the cushion mod and a $20 Mad Dog seat cover/cushion, I find it pretty comfortable now.
