Great youtube channel. A year ago i bought a VersysX for my wife. Your video helped me with removing the front panels to install 12 volt socket. Im having a hard time getting the panels to plug back into the rubber gromets. Might have to put some lubricant on the rubber gromets. Your bike looks great with all your accessories. Thank you.
Dan S no problems yet. Just recently put the socket on. Live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Waiting for the weather to warm to start riding more often. Put a SW Motech center stand on the bike last week. Love the center stand for chain maintenance.
True, one should always do something like that. I ended up remembering without going back to my video, which served as my log had I needed it. On something more critical like say the valve adjustment, etc, it would be very wise to log, photo and make notes so you do not forget/miss something that could ruin your bike.
Nice mods- I have done quite a few on my x-300 also- next up for me - up to a 15 tooth and duel sport tires- I also noticed in one of your videos you wore a Detroit lion sweatshirt- do you live I’m Michigan? I’m in macomb county and riding my Versys all over and really enjoying this bike- just wish it was a 400
I agree... this as a 400 with a 15T front sprocket and a less torturous seat would be amazing! And if they would just have it come with the center stand too, lol. I am from MI. Born in Detroit and grew up in the suburbs. Living out in Ann Arbor currently. Last time the Lions won a playoff game, I was in high school, ha! And gonna be 44 in a few months.
Versysx.net - my wife and I were at that game- January of 91 with Barry Sanders running all over the cowboys- they have sucked ever since- just got a 15 tooth sprocket today- can’t wait to put it on - also some 50/50 tires are going on this week- you have done some nice work on your bike- I’ve watched all your videos - my attempt at a video is there under versys x300 mods- keep riding young man
Question regarding OE engine guards. Does one need to remove green side panels to get access to mount the front engine guard bracket or is removing headlight shroud all that’s necessary? Thanks for posting, your videos are helpful! Green Side panels
If I remember correctly, no, you might be able to do the factory crash bars without removing the panels. I had them off for other work I was doing. You do have to remove the crash bars to get the panels off though (like when I did my valve adjustment).
Thank you. I am not planning on a fender extender. I have the Ricochet skid plate to install and that comes up quite far in front of the exhaust headers and will keep dirt, spray and grim off the pipes and engine. Plus most of the extenders I think attach with double stick tape or something. The only way I feel they would possible work in a long-term way would be for them to be drilled and bolted to the end of the fender (maybe with some epoxy too), which I wouldn't be opposed to doing, but I think the skid plate will do the job of keeping the engine and pipes from getting beat up or muddy.
The lights on the forks are on low by default when the bike is turned on and I wired them to the Kawasaki accessory switch to go to High when the switch is engaged. I then used the handlebar mount switch that came with the SW Motech lights to turn on/off the Kawasaki fog lights that are mounted on the engine guards.
Great vid and thanks for posting. How do you like the new lights? Do they have a low beam and high beam function and do they work with the regular lights high/low or are they always on at one power setting?
I like them a lot. They are only on/off lights and they have a wider dispersion so you can see a wider area at night, not further like a high beam... so on dark roads you have more light on the road edges and closer to the bike. I think they are a good investment and I use them a lot just for extra light to be seen. Since they are not like a high beam headlight, they do not shine in the eyes of oncoming traffic.
This is another one of your videos that was soooo helpful, to me. Thank you so much, sir.

This is a prime example of why it is always good to make a physical log when dismantling anything. That way you know exactly what bolts went where.

For sure. One should always be weary of gumption traps when maintaining a motorcycle.

How do you hook up the auxiliary lights ?
Good job. Can you post a link to where you purchased the little lights on your forks. Thanks.

Green Side panels
I bought TRex ones. The instruction video removed the side panels but I managed mounting the engine guards w/o removal.

Great video. Will you be fitting a ‘fender extender’ to the Versys? I’ve always wondered how they are fitted. Thank you in anticipation from the UK. 👍

Buen vídeo, linda moto...
Which year model is that Versys X300, please ?????
2017. There have been only color and cosmetic changes (stickers and graphics) since then to my knowledge.
牛逼!~excellent work!
So, did it actually work?
Yes, lol... all my mods worked as planned.
damn, this stuff is so frustrating.
That's all part of the fun!
