Drytron - Grind To Master Rank 1 - Season 36 [YU-GI-OH! MASTER DUEL]
Season 36 [11-30-2024 - 12-31-2024]
Ranked grind to Master 1. Glad to have achieved this with my favorite deck before the end of the year. I had a lot of free time to grind so I wouldn't expect to make it back to Master 1 anytime soon. Enjoy!

Notes:
Harpie's Feather Storm is a good card but still requires 2 bodies to make Kikinagashi Fucho or Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale. It's basically a turn skip and good against Link based decks compared to using Dimensional Barrier. It bricks sometimes so I decided to settle on using just 1 D-Barrier since it requires no investment to get it to work.
Decided to use Dark Ruler No More instead of Forbidden Droplet. It's searchable by Triple Tactics Thrust. Most decks can already play through Droplet and I die to a Macro Cosmos effect.
Decided to max out names for consistency. Feel like Drytron Beta Rastaban and Jack-In-The-Hand could be replaced with something, but I really liked having access to as many combos as possible.
I don't play normal handtraps besides Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended, which is purely meant for targeting protection (I never summon it) for Vanity's Ruler.
Tenpai seems to be the most popular deck and even if I won the coin flip and go first, I usually opted to end on Fucho just in case I played against Tenpai. This won me most games against Tenpai. I feel like I won around 90% of the time against Tenpai, very easy matchup.
I do notice more variety in this season compared to previous seasons. A lot of decks I don't often see. Strongest deck I have a hard time against were Centur-Ions in my opinion. White Forest makes this deck way more consistent. Going against them, if I win the coin flip, I usually won because they can't out Vanity's Ruler and if they go first, they have too many negates for me to make a comeback. I auto lose to Gimmick Puppet FTK. I somehow didn't encounter this deck enough for me to feel like I needed to change my deck (felt like I see them 1 in 20-30 duels). Thought about using Maxx C and other handtraps like Droll & Lockbird and Infinite Impermanence but I never draw them when I needed them. This causes me to brick sometimes when I went second, drawing it for my 6th card. That's why I decided to max out Drytron names and just full gas combo through all opponent's interruptions instead. Triple Tactics Talent was extremely helpful and won me many duels along with Triple Tactics Thrust and Dimensional Barrier. Sometimes I played Talents at 2 copies, sometimes 3. It allows you to play safe by looking at their hand and deciding to commit to Fucho (vs Tenpai) or full combo. The draw 2 effect is nice since they usually Ash Blossom already before Talents is live so draw 2 was almost never interrupted. Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale was the least Extra Deck card, probably can replace with I:P Masquerena for double S:P Little Knight disruption on opponent's turn.

      @@hywolfgaming8932 I’m trying the secret village version. It’s alright. I don’t have Natasha in the deck just to see how it goes. There were rare instances where I wish I had her so like turn 3 onwards would be nice to have her since you most likely cycled through Nu II and don’t need it anymore. Without her you don’t get these insane comebacks though. The deck feels more accessible with Nu II. I usually am able to cycle through every single Drytron name almost every time. It does feel more straight forward with the combos at times. Most likely the Machine rituals only restriction, it definitely doesn’t feel as flexible as before. It’s a new experience and I’ll just have to get used to it.

    • @densai89
      @densai89 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@baronhdl5861 Nu II makes it very easy to cycle through almost every Drytron in the deck. I’m a bit conflicted on which deck to commit to. Currently trying the Secret Village build but I noticed half the time I can’t establish it due to interruptions. I still encounter Tenpai decks so I’m sure Secret Village easily shuts down decks that are spell reliant. It almost feels like a win more deck at times, probably because I haven’t seen it pay off enough. I did cut Benten to 1 and no Natasha but there are specific scenarios where I wish I had access to her on turn 3. Because Nu II is a one card starter, I’ve tried to play with some hand traps like Maxx C and Ash. It’s alright, doesn’t brick as much as before the support so I’ll stick with them for now. Feels like it’s difficult to cut cards to make the deck as close to 40 as possible since there’s so many good cards now. I don’t have many cool replays yet so I’ll have to keep dueling. Have to admit I dislike going against another Drytron player. I really liked it when almost no one played the deck, haha.

    Why not maxx c or ash blossom

    • @densai89
      @densai89 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I tried them in the past but I never liked them. Decided to put them back in for a few duels and I realize I still don’t like them. You can argue in theory Maxx C baits their Ash so I’m free from getting Ashed next turn. I’d still want to see a combo piece over a hand trap. A lot of decks play Hiita so your ash just becomes link fodder for them. Drytron is a 2 card combo deck until Nu II is released so I need to max out Drytrons to even hand a chance to combo off. If I handtrap opponent but I can’t even combo off, feels bad. A lot of TCG players argue no handtraps is the way to play Drytron and I’ve come to realize that. Unless you’re playing with side deck and know how impactful a handtrap is against a specific matchup, I prefer to just play full gas and power through all the interruptions. Some decks don’t even play handtraps like Tearlaments because they want the mills to be as efficient as possible. Now for my personal opinion on Maxx C. I think Maxx C is only broken due to drawing into other hand traps. Handtraps you can activate more than once per turn like Imperm and Veiler become more powerful. It is best for decks that have multiple 1 card full combo because these decks fit like 15+ handtraps and can efficiently draw into hand traps from Maxx C. I think these decks make Maxx C more broken because of all the handtrap accessibility and even more combo starters. If you go 2nd and they have a weak board but they drop Maxx C on you, but you know they don’t play handtraps, you can OTK them without fear. Maxx C is not broken in that situation. This is why I think other handtraps make Maxx C broken. Drawing into combos or board breakers is not broken since you can’t do anything with them on your opponent’s turn anyway. After an opponent builds a big board and then drop Maxx C and draws into more handtraps, now you see the problem? You have to play through the board and the hand and it becomes too much. The math is you need to play half your deck in Drytron or ways to get to them (Cyber Emergency, Foolish Burial, etc.) which is around 20 names to have a good chance of opening 2 names to combo. Handtraps can either help or just brick your hand. If I had to play hand traps I prefer to play more impactful handtraps like Droll & Lockbird and Artifact Lancea (it’s searchable through Benten for banish based decks like Floowandereeze, Kashtira, the new Maliss deck coming soon) that affects them for a whole turn instead of opponent playing through my Ash like nothing happened.

      @densai89 thank you for the explanation, and one more question.. why Beatrice in the extra deck

    • @densai89
      @densai89 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@paridezaramella3953 Beatrice is mainly used as a combo extender, sending another Drytron or ritual monster to the GY. Meteonis Drytron ritual spell can ritual summon a monster from GY if you cannot add it to hand somehow. Beatrice can be made by using an uninterrupted Diviner of the Herald (her effect resolves and not negated) that sent Elder Entity N’tss or Herald of the Arc Light to GY, increasing her level to 6. Then you ritual summon Cyber Angel Benten or Cyber Angel Idaten (she was played when Benten was limited to 1 and 2) for the other level 6 and use them to summon Beatrice. Choju of the Trillion Hands can be used instead of Diviner if you want. Of course you can use 2 Bentens to make her but that’s inefficient since you might want to save the 2nd ritual summon for something better. Most Drytron monsters can ONLY be summoned by other Drytron effects (except for Drytron Nu II). If you do not have them in hand, the next best option is to send them to GY and summon them from there. Beatrice is also another way for you to combo off if you only have access to one Drytron name, which in most cases is considered an unplayable opening hand. You need access to Drytron Zeta and Benten/Diviner in this 1 Drytron only scenario. Zeta tribute Benten, add ritual spell from deck to hand. Benten activate in GY add Diviner from deck to hand. Normal Diviner, send Arc Light to become level 6. Arc Light in GY add Benten #2 from deck to hand. Ritual summon the Benten in GY by tributing Zeta on field. Xyz summon Beatrice by using Diviner and Benten. Beatrice effect to send Drytron Gamma from deck to GY. Gamma in GY tribute Benten #2 in hand to summon itself and Zeta. Recycle ritual spell in GY to hand by reducing Gamma or Zeta’s ATK by 1000. Benten #2 in GY activates to search Benten #3 to hand. Gamma and Zeta Xyz summon Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir. Fafnir send Drytron Alpha from deck to GY. Alpha in GY tribute Benten #3 in hand to search any ritual monster from deck to hand. Benten adds Natasha or any other Light Fairy from deck to hand. Perform your final ritual summon. Beatrice is one way to send specific cards needed for Drytron Turn Skip combos or FTKs. Send Thunder of Ruler to GY and add it back to hand with Knightmare Gryphon, Mecha Phantom Beast Auroradon or Coordius the Triphasic Dealmon. Ritual summon Amorphactor Pain to force opponent to skip Main Phase 1 (your opponent cannot chain to negate this effect since it applies immediately upon summon) and then activate Thunder of ruler next turn to force opponent to skip Battle Phase. Because Amorphactor Pain skipped Main Phase 1 they are forced to go straight to Battle Phase but Thunder of Ruler skipped their Battle Phase and because they did not enter Battle Phase, by game mechanics they cannot go to Main Phase 2 and must go to End Phase. So opponent only gets Draw Phase, Standby and End Phase. You kill them next turn. Beatrice send Transaction Rollback trap card, on opponent’s turn use her effect again to send Ghost Meets Girl - A Masterful Mayakashi Shiranui Saga trap card. Use Transaction Rollback in GY to copy Ghost Meets Girl effect to floodgate opponent from special summons for the rest of the turn. Beatrice send Transaction Rollback trap card. Next turn send Earthbound Release trap card. Have access to Nightmare Archfiends trap card (or use Trap Trix to search it). Activate Nightmare Archfiends to summon tokens to opponent’s field, use Transaction Rollback to copy Earthbound Release to destroy tokens to inflict 8400 damage to opponent.

    • @densai89
      @densai89 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@giveashot8763 That is the “great debate.” A lot of players cut out Natasha due to maxing out Nu II. Seeing as you play more than 1 duel in TCG you can decide to side her in/out of the deck. Master Duel is best of 1 so I think I’ll keep her in because you never know when you’ll need her to pick apart their board. You can summon Nu II by other card effects, do not activate any of its effects, and therefore are not locked into Machine rituals. Most situations, Nu II is just too good not to activate. I’ve seen a few profiles where people still play non-machines with Nu II and their arguments make sense to me. I do not play TCG or on other simulators so I don’t have experience yet to make an informed decision for myself.

      @@AintGotNoGlasses I don’t like all those fairies in hand. They brick sometimes. That’s why I don’t even play staple hand traps either. I just play as much gas a possible to push through all the interruptions when going 2nd. Also Tenpai main 3 Droplets and noticed more decks start to main it too. I’ve encountered Kashtira decks using droplet and I’m like but it conflicts with Arise-Heart but they still think it’s good enough to use it anyway. I think Union Carrier made Ultimateness more broken due to easier access to Eva. It’s probably decent now with unlimited Eva and Orange Light. It’s still just my preference to not play it.

      @@Rilo888 Last time I saw Sky Striker was when Linkage and other support cards came out. I actually thought it was a pure deck but the Tenpai cards was a bit of a surprise. I know people splash Sky Striker into other decks but I haven’t seen a Tenpai player do it yet. Makes sense since they can help bait interruptions and break boards with Afterburners and Widow Anchor before committing to Tenpai. Feels good to be the underdog and win. I think if you try hard enough, you could get to masters with a weaker or less played deck. Luck and skill are needed, but I think committing a lot of time is the biggest factor. As long as you have a slightly higher win ratio than 50%, over a lot of duels you will eventually reach masters. Like a statistic, you’ll see results over a large enough sample.

    Awesome stuff man! Congrats on Master 1! Really interesting deck list you’ve got too. It’s not often you see something that can be loosely described as “pure” drytron on MD, at least as of right now before the support drops. Not running any of the handtraps is a very interesting choice, I’m honestly surprised it worked out as well as it did but still very glad for it. Would you recommend giving this deck list a shot for a somewhat newer player?

    • @densai89
      @densai89 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@nitro5247 Thank you for the support. When this deck was still meta with Herald, hand traps were how this deck was played. But when cards got banned/limited, TCG players started shifting away from hand traps towards a more pure variant and Turn Skipping variants (The World or Amorphactor Pain with Thunder of Ruler). I started learning the deck after Drytron already got hit so I never used the Herald cards. I never really liked them in Drytron anyway. A non-hand trap version allows you to combo easier since this is not a 1 card full combo deck yet (until Nu II is released). Bricks happen a lot when you only see 1 Drytron so you have to max out the names. I don’t know how the meta is going to shift with Tenpai being hit. They were the easiest matchup and at the same time the most popular so it helped make my ranked climb easier. I will still continue playing this deck like I always do but I’m hesitant to recommend this deck to a newer/learning player. I stuck with this deck because it’s my favorite (rituals are my favorite summoning mechanic) and I got tired of buying into the new meta archetypes every few months (I’m a free to play player). I dump all my gems into older packs to get some of these royal rares and then craft the rest of the royals using my excess SR/UR crafting points so I at least have pretty cards to look at when I only play one deck. When you play a weaker deck, you start to learn its flaws quickly and it’s definitely a challenge against some meta decks. Example: all Drytrons tribute for cost so sometimes if you get hand trapped, you are down 2 cards and you quickly are at a huge disadvantage. If you misplay, you inherently are a weaker deck so you are again at another disadvantage. And I misplay too, A LOT! Plus side is some players will not know how to stop the deck so you can bait hand traps/interruptions easier. Another plus side is because it was an older deck, it’s cheaper to build compared to these new meta decks that are nothing but pure SR/UR cards. If you want to play competitively and win, I’d recommend a meta deck (can’t beat them, join them) and build this deck as a for fun deck. The more you win, the more gems it rewards you after each win (there’s a limit per day like 100 gems I think) so it does pay for itself playing a stronger deck. Like Dkayed said, you either play an easy deck as a new player (stun, Floowandereeze, True Draco) or you go hard and play the strongest meta deck. You’ll have less room for error and can play around other interruptions easier because you can afford to take these risk and after all that, learn way faster how to be a better player than using an older deck. I know some of these plays in my video look insane, but it’s not easy making it look like that. Hope my honesty helps you make an informed decision.

    • @densai89
      @densai89 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @xcom2elder92 Ritual monsters are similar to Extra Deck monsters. They must be “properly summoned” before they can be summoned from a “public location” such as the GY or face-up banishment. Private means only you know the cards or neither player know the cards (your face-down main deck, your hand, your face-down banished cards) and public means cards that your opponent can identify (both GY, both face-up banished cards, cards on field, etc). You can use effects (like Soul of the Supreme King trap card to summon Supreme King Z-ARC from ED) to cheat summon a monster from the Extra Deck because most ED monsters are face down/private knowledge locations and can summon them “ignoring its Summoning conditions.” You can also cheat out monsters from hand and main deck because these are also private knowledge locations. But even if you cheat them out, they are still not classified as “properly summoned” so it’s sent to GY you cannot reborn them because they were improperly summoned. Proper summons include Tuner and non-Tuner to make a synchro summon, fusion effect using monsters to summon a fusion monster, using monsters of the same level to XYZ summon, etc. Once they are properly summoned, you can reborn them as many times as you like. I had to ritual summon Natasha first and then use her own GY reborn effect to steal monsters. If I did not ritual summon her, she has not been properly summoned and therefore cannot be reborn from a public knowledge location (GY). Hopefully I explained in a way you can understand. Some mechanics are not easily explained to newer players and that’s why they call this a game for lawyers, lol.

      @@guilherme154-p8b Thank you! Happy New Year to you too! I feel like this deck is balanced for going first or second. Since this deck doesn’t put up too many interruptions on opponent’s turn consistently, it gives them an opportunity to make a comeback. Arcana Force involves some bricks if you draw them going 2nd. Benefit to Arcana is you can pull off the FTK with access to only 1 Benten so in a way it’s easier to pull off compared to Amorphactor Pain turn skips in my opinion. There are rare instances where you cannot pull off the turn skip after summoning The World because you do not have enough bodies to tribute for the turn skip effect or are unable to deal 8k damage next turn. Arcana turn skip is stronger since it’s a true turn skip compared to Amorphactor Pain which they still have a turn and can play some cards (some Tenpai players have Red Reboot and can shut down Thunder of Ruler). Amorphactor Pain does offer better recovery since you can just tribute it for Drytron effects next turn. They both have their own pros/cons.

      @@elainachi Right now Drytron is not that strong. Waiting for new cards to be released, especially Nu2. Drytron is mainly a 2 card combo deck but Nu2 will allow it to become 1 card full combo. That's why I max out all the smaller Drytrons so I don't brick often. It does take a while to get used to playing the deck. A lot of players prefer to play board breakers in Drytron over hand traps (just something to keep in mind) and if they do play hand traps, it's in the side deck. For this build Amorphactor Pain isn't necessary, mostly helps against Tenpai since it skips their Main Phase 1 and even if they synchro in Battle Phase, Amorphactor negates all Extra deck monsters except Links. Super Poly is alright but it does eat into the Extra Deck if you really need the space you can cut it out. You can play 2 Called By. For some reason it's the rarest card to open so I said screw it, I'll just have it at 1. Evenly Matched was more to deal with backrow decks or massive board decks that don't have Spell/Trap negates like Yubel. Vanity's Ruler is always my preferred normal summon if I go first. If they Maxx C, they usually only draw 2 and you floodgate them with this. Diviner is better for going 2nd or if you only have access to 1 Drytron name, she helps make Beatrice and allow you to still combo. Diviner is also a negate magnet so if you don't need her, use her for bait and they'll usually always handtrap her. For some reason, unlike Called By where I almost never open it, Master Duel always makes me hard open Vanity's Ruler or Meteonis (Ritual Spell). You prefer to search these but this game wants to make it difficult on purpose, haha. If you're going to play the deck in real life, I suggest you look into other videos for an updated deck profile since Nu2 changes everything about how this deck works. People even remove Natasha and keep only 1 Benten. It's crazy how Nu2 changes people's strategies and philosophy on the deck.

      @@nhacopeninganimekhongbaao9402 Every deck has a weaknesses. I don’t care if it’s a weaker deck. Some players dedicate themselves to one deck and become extremely good at it. I like watching players who are like this. Playing a meta deck or most popular decks most people will already know how to counter. If you play an older deck some people will not know how to beat them. Rituals are my favorite summoning mechanic in the game and Drytron is my favorite deck. I mainly just upload on here so I can have a place to rewatch my duels. If anyone enjoys it, I’m happy. If they don’t like it, it wasn’t my intention so it doesn’t offend me anyway. There were some formats that were difficult to play through like when Bystials were introduced but that does not stop me from playing this deck. Voiceless Voice is the strongest Ritual deck right now, but I feel the matchup is 50%. Sometimes I can defeat them, sometimes they can defeat me too but I don’t feel like I’m actually weaker than they are. I think their strength is in their protection abilities and playing around Maxx C with minimal summons. I know they play many hand traps but that can be a weakness too because hand traps can be bricks sometimes. This is why I play many Drytron names to power through hand traps and interruptions and it does work sometimes.

      @densai89 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I love the artwork on them but I hate playing them. Heralds are good at stopping hand traps and if they negate your board with something like Dark Ruler No More or Forbidden Droplet. I don't like playing them because sometimes they're bricks in your hand. You need another Fairy in hand but sometimes you want to Normal Summon Diviner or tribute Benten to start the combo and now you're in a tough spot. Drytrons tribute for cost and if it gets negated, you're down in card advantage already and that's why Benten is so essential for Drytrons because they replace themselves. So for Heralds to discard your Fairies too, I think it leans a little heavy on paying costs for my liking. Heralds build also rely more on Diviner, so it can be weaker if they drop Maxx C on you. I like to play Vanity's for my normal summon and you can give opponent 2 draws minimum off Maxx C and floodgate them so it's better than Diviner in those situations. Once Perfection/Ultimateness is on field, then I feel it's easier to pay the cost for the negate. Orange, Purple and Green Light discard along with another Fairy in hand (2 cards) for 1 negate feels a bit steep sometimes. Until Nu2 comes out, Drytron remains a 2 card combo deck so you need to see as many different names as possible or you end up bricking. I watched lithium2300's video on OCG Drytrons back at full power vs other decks and they play Maxx C, Ash and the Heralds and they just brick like half their games. Hand traps are nice but they literally don't progress your board. This is why 1 card full combo decks with like 9+ starters can afford to play 15 hand traps but Drytron can't. So you go with board breakers or full gas to power through their interruptions. I pulled a royal Perfection from packs when trying to pull royal Arc Light or Diviner, but I can't bring myself to play it, lol. It can be nice to throw in 1 Orange/Green Light if you play Vanity's because sometimes you tribute 2 Bentens on field to summon Vanity's so you search 1 Fairy and 1 Orange/Green Light to protect Vanity's. Usually spell cards or Imperm are what an opponent will use to out Vanity's. That's why in the past Drytron players would summon Mirage Lights with 600 ATK can negate spell/trap to protect Vanity's while Linkuriboh blocks an attack on Mirage Lights. A lot of Drytron players have moved away from the Herald build but don't think that's a bad thing to play that deck. You can tell players and Konami have PTSD from Ultimateness negate everything. That's why they restricted Nu2 to only allow you to ritual Machine monsters. It's just a preference of mine to not play Herald from when I first started touching Drytrons.
