    Re declination circle. My previous comments are based on conventionally enumerated setting circle that is static at 90 deg when pointing at either celestial pole. Given this Eq4 has two readily accessible set screws on the declination circle, perhaps it is nonstatic in its protocol. I have yet to think this through!

  • @johnsapranidis9097
    @johnsapranidis9097 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Well made Mount. Only one hiccup. The declination markings should ascend from 0 deg to 90 deg in both left and right directions. The Kson Eq4 mount has only one 0 reading (not the traditional two 0 readings for the celestial equator) and numbers ascend only to the right. This necessitates -- depending on your + (north) or - (south ) latitude --- a correct declination reading in one direction but requires a comparable reading in the equivalent direction to be arrived at by subtracting that which the mount points to from 90. Not a difficult task for 2nd grade arithmetic. Excepting this quirk, an enjoyable and accurate telescope mount.

      We are introducing a 90mm f/10 scope with a 50mm aperture cap that would do rather well as a solar (though the Olympus range comes with an 80mm cap). No ED glass is needed for solar work. If you mean equatorial mounts, they can be purchased by themselves and they all have a pier option. The Kson EQ range also come with three padded nylon handy bags to keep the Mount, counterweights and tripod secure. Hope that helps, reach out to us over email or call if you need more info.

On the Moon and planets along with double stars. The views are simply awesome. At only 150mm of clear aperture the scope is not fighting the seeing on any given night. It's ideal for wide field observing of deep sky objects, and you also have the possibility of low powered, extremely wide fields of view. There's nothing quite like it. With the amount of light entering however, you wouldn't want to use this particular scope for high magnification views. The Ke'sil comes in three variants depending on what you want to do, the V ("visual" which comes with a lot of excellent visual accessories that make the most of it's strengths), the O (OTA - just the scope, good if you already have a heap of accessories) and the AP, or Astrophotography version which comes with a corrector / flattener. It's a hefty scope (9kg), so you should have an EQ5/AZ5 or similar at least. The Kson EQ4 can take it (just) for visual.

      This particular mount is very Universal - so you can just slide in a vixen style plate and it will work. A lot of scopes natively have some sort of vixen mounting. If not, you can measure the outer diameter of your scope and get rings, which are connected with a plate.

      Orthos are considered exceptional for planetary. The Ksons (LE, 1st Gen) are particularly good as they have a ridiculously sharp center field, while the Fujiyamas are sharp over the whole field. The 9mm Fujiyama is one of my favourite general purpose eyepieces and does well at everything that doesn't require wide field of views (e.g. planets!)

    Which one is better this one or the 18 mm classic ortho's plossl? ( made in China) For my alpha H solar telescope ( €109 vs €75 ) thanks!

    • @TelescopeShop
      @TelescopeShop ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, there are three parts to your question - let's do them a bit at a time., We sell both of them, and they both have advantages. (1) Let's start with the Baader one. It has an odd field of view, 53 degrees. Now, Ortho's can't be any more, so how is this possible? Basically, the outer field is unusable - but it does allow you to more easily find a target. I think that's nice, but it can make the Baader's look bad as the view isn't sharp to the edge, which can annoy some people. (2) Fujiyama's have a wider range of focal lengths available, from 4mm to 25mm, there are 9 sizes. They are also physically smaller. My opinion is that the Fujiyama's are a little sharper and more contrasty and they are Made in Japan. The last bit is about Solar use. I am not a solar observer, so I can't make specific recommendations. One thing I will say is that you may have missed another contender, the Meade CE18 Solar eyepiece. International Buyers - www.ebay.com.au/itm/313981336702 Australian Buyers - www.astrodog.com.au/product/meade-cemax-series-eyepiece-1-25%E2%80%B3-plossl-4-element-part-ce18/ This one is specifically designed for Ha wavelengths. • @TelescopeShop

      If you are going to do visual work - absolutely. The extra focal length (f/6.6 vs f/5 means that eyepieces will work better, it becomes easier to focus and you get less chromatic aberration on top. The f/6.6 version will be back in stock by the end of the month (import going well) and will come natively with a better focuser that allows fine focus.

    • @TelescopeShop
      @TelescopeShop 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rajivgoes6 Some people want to put a camera on them - not actually look through them. Visual work means you are observing, perhaps sketching etc.. Magnification requires light. A 90mm refractor allows in significantly more light than a 80mm, a 102mm more again (e.g. A102G). Magnification is both a function of the scope (a longer scope offers more "native" magnification, and the eyepiece (e.g. a 7mm Eyepiece will bring you "closer" to the target than a 25mm eyepiece). It's not that simple however - even if you have a magnificent scope and a wonderful eyepiece, if you put it on an awful mount (and trust me - many don't pay attention to this) it will wobble all over the place and make what should be wonderful, unwatchable. We recommend pairing scopes with mounts correctly. Rough Guide: Something like a A102G deserves a Kson EQ4 or Kson AZ4. Use a az4 or az5 for a 90mm. A az3 is okay for a 80mm. Clarity is really a function of sufficient light (the less light and the more you "close in" on an object, the dimmer and more fuzzy it will be). Clarity is also affected by sky conditions such as "seeing" and "transparency". Some people have a wonderful scope and equipment but look up in poor skies - mistaking the situation as having a poor scope. The other aspect of clarity is glass quality. The A102G and the f/6.6 have better and rarer earth glass compared to the f/5.

    I bought a Baader 6mm Orthoscopic eyepiece wanting a brighter view in my 150mm Newtonian over my 6mm UWA Starguider made in Taiwan, but surprisingly good. I had my telescope optics re-aluminized to 96-97% reflectivity and my mirror was refigured to remove a minor anomaly and when finished I had near perfect optics to make a long story short. So I look through the Baader expecting a brighter view, but it was dimmer, considerably. The Baader is of a Zeiss construction and not a true Ortho was how I had it explained to me. I have no idea what that means, but wasn't happy that a cheap ep beat out a more expensive one.

    Does this instrument have enough focus-travel to allow a full-frame DSLR to achieve focus? (55 mm from the front of the T-ring to the sensor)

      We don't have the adaptor to test a DSLR as we usually use 2" dslr adaptors to go into a 2" focuser. I have extended the draw tube out to 125mm without an issue however. So, I would think there is sufficient back focus if that is what you looking for. Infocus as usual, is what it is. Marcel

      You might be able to use a T thread extention tube if it can't. Looks like this could work. I've been really curious to try it for Astrophotography too.

      Can I use this as a guide scope? How heavy us it?

      @Ad Astro Mmmm, I'd use the little brother of this unit for that. www.astrodog.com.au/product/kson-f-5-refractor-400mm-x-80mm-ota/ This one is not very heavy, but probably more than is needed for a guider and keeping weight down as low as possible is advisable. There is a ring version which is a good deal also.
