With more Surfliner equipment sidelined for maintenance, Amtrak had to rely on the Comet cars, which were brought down to LA in July to support the Pacific Surfliner. As a bonus, we were treated to the sight of Dash-8 #503 leading the way and delivering some horn action. Also in this video is southbound Surfliner #580. On this day, I decided to go out and chase NPCU #90225 leading Amtrak Pacific Surfliner #581. The first stop is Middleton MTS station, where we see southbound Surfliner #572 coming thru minutes before #581. Once #581 came thru, I went up to Sorrento Valley station. #774 came thru first, followed by #581 with another great showing of the horn. I hope you enjoy this video! #train #amtrak #railfan...

With equipment shortages continuing for Amtrak Pacific Surfliner Service, NPCU #90225 has been operating on trains these past few days. The first clip in this video is Pacific Surfliner #770, running with a California Car and 2 Cab Cars on the rear. About a minute later, Pacific Surfliner #777 roars thru with NPCU #90225 on the helm. After being brought down from Northern California nearly 2 months ago, 1/2 Amtrak NPCU’s in Los Angeles finally makes it way onto the surfline. The day prior, Dash-8 #503 was assigned to lead this trainset, due to mechanical failures of the leading cab car. On this day, DASH-8 #503 was once again assigned to Surfliner service. I decided to go out to the Bluffs to catch it trailing, and leading. In total, there are 8 Surfliner trains in this video, with lots of horn as construction on the bluffs was occurring!
