0:06 is the Fiat Topolino
In brazil strada is a pickup based on the fiat palio
truly a good car. America wasn't ready at that time for economical midsized cars. They found them to small. But in fact it was more than roomy enough for every 4 to 5 person family. It's a shame they have all disapeared. Due to rust .... Yes, but every car of that era rusted away from day 1 on.
i had one and beat the ever living crap out of it. snapped all the bolts in the differential because i used to do hole shots. had it fixed, and kept beating on it. the good old days. i may buy one just yo beat on it again
When I was in college in mid-80s I had a green 1978 Fiat SuperBrava 2-door coupe. I love that heavy european steering on a 5-speed transmission.
I have 4 of these. 3 US spec cars (one has been converted to a 105 TC and the other a standard Ritmo). The 4th is a MK2 Cabrio I imported from Rome. They are all gems. Amazing to drive, comfortable, refinded, smooth and that engine (on the 3 of them) is art. 2 of the 4 are US spec cars with factory fuel injection and that is a really nice feature. I have had so many cars come and go in the fleet but these remain. Few cars out there come close to how amazing these are.
As an Italian guy, I'm glad to hear that
I bought a new 1978 131 SuperBrava coupe, manual. Champagne yellow with brown leather seats. It had a Blaupunkt stereo. Really handled well.
I still have my 81 fiat Brava all original California car with no rust anywhere. 2.0 EFI with the 3spd automatic transmission 4 door.
Unfortunately, this was the car that ended Fiat's USA adventure because it rusted itself away...
FIAT It's a look a great compact and small car in that days around the world...in Indonesia, in that day in 78's Fiat was going to sun set in the market, it's not easy to compete with Japanese car, event though Japan was new comer as well, we called New Kid on the block....but who known, becoming a baby boomer very fast.. Now I've 2(two) type of Fiat, 131 CL ((SOHC) and 131 Brava (SOHC-in New Model) both in a Vintage Mode...I love Fiat...
It may have been biodegradable, and the heating system didn't heat in the winter, and the shock absorbers died young, and the wheels had no centre hole, and the gear linkage wore out once a year, and you had to carry a spare window winder, BUT if the suspension was in good nick, if you had Pirellis on it, if you took care of the engine, then it was great fun to drive and I am sure the engine was unburstable. I sold it when I got tired of watching the road go by under my left foot in a Montreal winter. The gods punished me for this by urging me to buy a Mitsubishi.
My Dad loved his 131 Mirafiori's had 3 of them MK 1 2 and 3
CIAO MEN , I HAVE A BIG COLLECTION @ FIAT , PLS SUBSCRIBE
That American bumpers 😁😁😁😅
o artık izmir işi kksjskshhssksj
What a pitty, the american bumpers of that time killed the charasteristic front of the Ritmo/Strada. It was a good way to prevent imports though lol
In 1987 96 ROCK in Atlanta gave away on of these cars in a promotion, always wanted to no what they looked like.
I dare you to try and adjust the roof mounted aerial on one........without it coming away in your hand................
I had an ‘86 Bertone X1/9 that I purchased in 1990, with 18k miles, for 7.5k. It was pristine. I loved it when it actually ran. If it got rained on it would flood the ignition computer and you had to wait for it to dry out before it would crank up. I was using a sprayer at a car wash and the paint on the front bumper/hood just popped off. It started to rust shortly after. Once, the stick shift dropped down several inches while driving. The bolt holding it in place had fallen out! Fun to drive but a total piece of crap otherwise.
私は日本人です。I'm Japanese. 私は日本からあなたの動画を見ました。I saw your animation from Japan. 素晴らしいです。Very good (^_-)-☆ 私も昔、X1-9を持ってっていました。I was having X 1-9 before, too. th-cam.com/video/yp5hiJ6rj9c/w-d-xo.html
Ever hear of the 1979 Fiat x/19 Little Sister Convertible? Only 24 made, I had lucky #13 yellow with black felt complete convertible top. Good times with my Lil Sis...
Os the Blaupunkt for sale ?
Fiat Strada in England they where crap they rusted like crazy a friend of mine had one from new within 5 years it was scrap.
Road test for the 3.0 Milano or Verde.
I always liked the Recaro seats, could never get totally comfortable though
road handling is the best for its time. Alfa FOREVER.
I had one 1986 Bertone X1/9 in PR that looked very much like yours. Do you know anybody that is selling one in PR?
Now I have a completely new 1986 bertone X. I was selling it a few months ago, but decided to keep it. Its black with perfect black leather, working A/C, etc.
I drove one in 1980 at a dealership in Georgia. NICE driving car. Fiat dealer would give me nothing for my 78 Renault LeCar..or I would have bought one,,
God cars were so shitty during this era, pretty much everywhere.
Johnnie and bbser, You are both right in that the X-1/9 Is a blast to drive; but really ALL ITALIAN CARS are a blast to drive. I don't care if it is the cheapest Fiat or the most expensive Ferrari. Fun is the DNA of ALL Italian cars. When you drive them, you can't wait to get back in and do it again!!!!
at 1:18 they show a twin cam engine..
Yes-the X19 is a blast to drive, especially for the under 30 set. I've had 3 of them back in the day, an 82, 85 & 86. When Fiat left the States & Bertone took over production in model year 1983-many improvements were made-but these vehicle still require constant maintenance. Think of the possibilities if Fiat were to sell a brand new mid engine or convertible vehicle like the spider in 2015. The Fiat 500 is a well built car, but being a sedan, it has not won the hearts of sports car enthusiasts. I've also had several other Fiat models, such as the 850 Spider, Strada, Brava, Spider- so I guess I'm partial to the brand. Old Fiats can be a pain in the ass at times, but they are beautifully styled and a blast to drive. Rock on Fiat!
Was just saying in the other show with the Yugo & Milano that I still have my '88 Milano Verde, which I bought new! I always thought this was the first Alfa designed for American tastes...
In Spain Ritmo was sold by Seat between 1979 and 1982 with licence Fiat. My father had one for twenty years.
+Juan Antonio Fernández Alcalá de Henares. Costasur Its call seat ronda
@@joedon9758 Seat Ronda after the facelift only
Not only sold but also manufactured.
I am honoured to have probably the best example on the planet !..its such a great car!
delazzuro - i know exactly your feelings since i have owned one many years ago = mia grande amore con four wheels👍
My first car was a brand new '79 Fiat X19 (around $8500.00 IIRC). The thing seemed to get a thousand miles per gallon when gas was next to nothing. Great ride to say the least. I'd pop the roof even in winter and just blast the heat. Yes it had a few problems here and there but I really loved this car. Aw well... at least I still have pictures.
4:12 Why does that dude get so pissed off? Lol. He just chucks that shit in the weeds and slams the trunk.
Classic style. "art should be driven!"
As in just to drive around the city and town to town not 500 miles a week
City car ? Sorry but i don't understand what do you mean
did you enjoy them or did you drive from NYC to LA like alot of people did at the time being these cars are city cars not cross country cars
In Italy this car was called Ritmo
Why US version of imported cars has that horrible bumpers, even Ferraris 😅
Great clip! I never knew the 75/Milano was this highly rated in the US.
The styling is an acquired taste, very period appropriate. I quite like it myself.
Yup :)
Still worst that.....
hell yes!!
Thou by car you don't understand a shit
How to kill Italian design? with american bumpers ofcourse (to be dumb driver proof)
from german daimler hands maybe
