I had this exact same combo that I purchased new in 2001 from Champion Porsche in Florida. I had the crest in the headrest was the only difference compared to this one. I still have the original window sticker and a key for it. I would love to be able to find it and purchase it. Such a fun car!
Excellent touch with the rest in the headrest. If you have the vin anywhere from old paperwork give it a search and see what you can find!
Congrats! Enjoy it!
@@DIYDanCars Thanks man!
My bro sold his. He was happy after that.
@@Workerbee-zy5nx You both hate your cars 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@TakeFlightGarage Pita cars. My 951 still runs.
Subbed. Good job on your flat six aquisition. They are fun. Enjoy!
@@timmiller4130 Thanks so much!
Exciting purchase. Nice stable of Porsches you have now! Keen to see some videos on it this year and the ownership journey.
I definitely have a few plans in the works, just gotta secure some funds as with any project 😅 In the longer term I think this would also be a great opportunity to do some real heavy hitting work that the 944 needed and now that having a second car can afford me the time necessary to do it properly and hopefully film some really in depth and informative videos. Thanks for tuning in hope you enjoy!

Awesome, what a great spec. Looks like the font bumper valance needs to be pushed in a tad? noticed there's a gap where it meets the bonnet. Looking forward to hearing your experience on owning one of these.
The gap upfront is normal and even so that’s okay. This bumper has been off before to be repainted so I’m sure the gap could be a little tighter but everything looks to be okay in person.
@@TakeFlightGarage Your right actually, I just looked over some pics of boxters ive seen at meets and looks more or less the the same 👍
Looking forward to the videos! Who is this Mike character that keeps selling you his cars???
@@OhYeahAboutThat Defintely a great guy! Hes got good taste!
An 07K would look even better in that.
Nahhhhh mane not my thing lol. I’m just fine with the m044 lol.
@@TakeFlightGarage it’s a sweet ride! I ended up in the hole of buying a swap kit before the car but I do have a nice looking pile of parts though.
@ the 07k is definitely my favorite of the engine swaps that exists out there. Whenever everything comes together for you you’re going to have an absolute menace on your hands lol. GLWTB!
Oof brother.
Kills me everytime I look at it smh.
My car runs great after 3 minutes of running. At about the 1 min mark the idle gets wobbly and itll completly die. If i hold the rpm around at 1k itll eventually settle out like i said. Only happns on first cold start of the day. Its a 2.5l Na 1983. Any ideas?
@@miataisgud3897 sounds like your idle control valve. Check Clark’s garage for the trouble shooting procedure. Basically all the things that control mixture based on temperature could be at play. O2 sensor, coolant temp sensor for the DME, and AFM. Those would be more consistent failures though. Idle control valve is what it sounds like, a valve that opens and closes to let more or less air into the intake as the car warms up. Should be fully open when cold and fully closed when warm irrc. Hope that helps!
Oil burning… Sound like standard r4…nothing special
@@MichalTypeR Not burning oil it’s not a type r lol
Is it not awkward looking down while driving to use Maps?
Nope not really. It’s no different than with any other info system while you’re driving, either a quick glance+ call outs, or do your long length screen look while stopped at a light. The way the maps are set up it usually tells you when the next turn is coming up well in advance so you know where to go. Typing anything in or searching for a song artist or album if you can’t ask Siri off the top of your head is a bit of a different story. That is definitely a “while stopped at a light” activity.
Look great! Excited for 2025
Thanks brotha!
that was the coolest transition I've seen in a while, congrats on the new car! :D
@juliemarie6092 Lol thank you! All credit goes to my friend Mike for that idea. Solid gold 😄
wait did you sell or just buy a extra car?
@@EBMproductions1 Nah 944 isn’t going anywhere. Just finally relieved of its daily duties. I’ll talk more about it in next weeks video, but I wanted to give yall a fun little teaser.
This was my first car, 944, when I was 16. It was such a fun car...
They are amazing cars. Extremely capable platforms with lots of flexibility for personalization, but all while showcasing that traditional Porsche DNA. Absolutely lovely cars.
@TakeFlightGarage I remember that new smell and being 16 going to the mall and driving the strip every weekend. Very dependable went to college with me had no issues. Then at 25 I bought my first car a Lotus Esprit. Congratulations on your porsche it looks amazing 👏 I always enjoyed my night drives and missed it.
@ Check back on the channel there’s a lot of videos with this car, and actually a very similar story with my first 944 which I bought at 17, so I very much understand where you’re coming from. These cars have taught me a lot!

@TakeFlightGarage in europe we all do dansk😎the only problem i have is it drones a little between 2000 and 3000rpm.but i take that.headers is on my list to😎
that torque feedback sound is too loud, but accelerate is sounds meaningful
@ I think a big part of that will change with some 4-1 headers, I think there’s a lot of turbulence from the resonator and that’s maybe what that is. Personally I don’t mind it at all, it sounds fine from the cabin at least. That’s my hypothesis anyways

@@rrassoc Yup! These are the Amazon ones.

@@OhYeahAboutThat I have lived with that cracked housing for a year I couldn’t take it anymore hahahaha.
I bought an H4 housing + LED bulb kit last year through eBay. First, the aluminum alignment tabs on the housings didn't align properly, so I needed a few efforts to bend them to make sure the lenses were aligned top-bottom properly. Then, I noticed the beam patterns are crazy. I've been trying hard to adjust the housing positions to optimize the beams to not piss everyone ahead of me off. I sterted looking at Halogen replacements, since it's not easy to assess chip placements on the LEDs. My current problems are still better than the alternative sealed beams, though. They were TERRIBLE.
Huh this is really interesting h4 housings should be able to fit no problem, and if you had problems regardless of bulbs and fitment issues, it’s almost sounding like the housings are just awful. Really interesting to hear this experience though thank you for sharing! Definitely something should keep in mind
The struts only become a problem when one fails or one weakens over the other, thereby causing torsion on the fame. So, it doesn’t matter whether you use the Jeep struts or the original, it’s about balance. .
While I appreciate your comment and I’m sure there is some viability to what you’re saying I have to respectfully disagree. You can put brand new Porsche OEM struts on and immediately pop the glass out of the frame/ run into the glass eventually delaminating. There are several TSBs Porsche issued from back in the 80s as this was even a problem on these cars back then. During the time I had these struts on this particular car I had absolutely no issues and no signs of potential delaminating. What I really need to do is do this again on my 86 BEFORE the glass separates, and see what happens.
Ok bro, just orded some quarter window louvers for my Lil Kaiser, CarBone has em for 944 and they look awesome..😎🌴👍🤠

Hey, I really love your videos, it's a good dictionnary for the porsche 944 maintenance, I just have one question if you can answer me, I'm a young french student I will enter college next year and I really love this car. Should I rather buy this car as a first car or maybe another one ?
Thank you for watching! To answer your question, I think it really depends on you personally and how much on your plate you can handle at one time/ how much you’ll be relying on your car. In college budgets can be tight ( I know from experience lol) I would say, if you have a secondary way to get around incase the 944 needs to be down/ and you have the time and space to be working on the car while focusing on your studies to where it won’t be added stress then there’s no reason why you shouldn’t go for it. I think the best solution is to maybe find a car that you can actually keep at home and slowly restore during your breaks/ time off, and keep a daily driver with you for school. Personally I didn’t mind working on my car during school because I was at home with a garage to work on it, and I had other ways to get to school if the car needed work. Take your time and with hard work you can achieve anything 👍🏻
He couldn’t have said it better. From personal experience, it is all about your time availability and budget. The 944 are remarkably less expensive than people give them credit but like all project cars, they require love attention and money! I thankfully have a reliable daily in case the 944 goes down for a long time, but I drive the 944 more now than my daily. They are very reliable with good maintenance and care! Any car has the possibility of being a money pit or always being broken. Do what makes you happy and seems doable for now. You don’t have to keep this car forever, but you definitely can!
I got the billet sunroof handles for my 944 earlier this year, can vouch they are amazing and way better than then stock plastic ones.
Saratoga top...YES!
