UP 4335, UP 6361, UP 1988, UP 3905, and UP 6697 lead a slow MCHAL west, up the grade on the UP Milwaukee Subdivision. This was filmed South 71st Street, in West Allis, WI. I found out that UP 1988, the MKT heritage unit was trailing on todays MCHAL. I figured it wasn't going to leave the yard it'll stop at with any daylight left, so I decided to catch it before the yard. I was all setup north of here, and then I found it was only at Oak Creek... That's pretty far south of here for a train, so I ventured into West Allis. I found a crossing that I liked and setup, again! After a 20 minute wait, I heard the rumbling of this train. I was expecting a typical UP leader to round the curve, but I saw a SD70M round the curve... A SD70M leading a UP road train in 2024? That's something I was not expecting at all! It was great to see one, and this is my second time seeing one leading. Behind that was a former SP AC44, sadly in UP paint... 3rd was the heritage unit, but honestly I think the real star of the show was the leader... It was still nice to 1988, which is the whole reason I went out for this train. It's also my second UP heritage unit! Then there was another SD70M, and a AC44. Very nice consist for the UP. No GEVO's? Even better! I noticed all the trailing motors had there windows open. Why? I have no idea. Maybe they all stank that bad... They are UP engines after all. This was good catch, and it was great to see another UP train. There hard to catch around here.
