Clemson, and quite a few other schools seem to get it right about honoring service members and veterans. I, as a veteran, appreciate them.

Trivia Answer: This was Danny Ford’s last game as coach of Clemson, as he would resign as Clemson coach just one month later in January of 1990.

The Clemson Senior Platoon was a drill team that began in 1930 under the leadership of Frank B. "Gator" Farr. It was known as the only one of its kind in the United States. The platoon was originally called The Fancy Prize Drill Platoon or the Junior Platoon, but was renamed the Clemson Senior Platoon in 1934. The Clemson Senior Platoon was deactivated in 1960 due to a lack of student interest. However, it was reactivated in 2000 by Army ROTC Cadet Jonathan Westbrook.

Trivia Answer: Bill Peterson of FSU was the handpicked successor, but Peterson changed his mind and eventually went to Rice a year later. Howard had to continue the search and ended up with Hootie Ingram.
