Okay, I just got on here. I saw that your video is 13 min, and you have 13 comments, not including mine!
If you come back... I suggest you don't stay in Times Square area or Manhattan at all... Stay in Williamsburg Brooklyn or Park Slope Brooklyn. It's 20-30 mins away from Times Square on the Subway and so much nicer and cheaper. ijs.... Glad you enjoyed my City 🎉👍🏻💯
loving the final year diaries <33 i’m retaking biology and chemistry a level and reapplying to medicine for next entry and it’s been hard to pick myself up but your journey to medicine and these videos are always so inspiring to watch ❤️
Gunwharf Quays is cool.
Love from India ❤

awesome video lydia
thanks for our weekly dose of motivation!😍
do you get any written exams or single-best answer/MCQ? x
Your vlogs motivate me so much
I've never felt you were more relatable than when you put half a glass worth of ice into your drink. In the US the milestones everyone is obsessed with are: pincer grasp and when a toddler can jump. I am in shock that black mold is acceptable in a rental - that is illegal in the US. I hope your bathroom has an exhaust fan - that helps tremendously with not letting mold grow (as does opening the window of course).
Love the vlogs and the flat is so nice!!
love
🥰🥰
awesome video lydia
thank you!! x
@@LydiaMartinMedic no worries
Loved this one xx
👩⚕
You are so genuine and authentic, every single vlog is so inspiring and really motivates me to become the best version of myself. Thank you so much!!
i second this! i just missed the grades for medicine after such promising predicted grades and performance in year 12/13, i've never felt so lost in my life just did my UCAT, looking to resit my exams and give it another go, these videos mean everything <3
fred is fit tho. he deffo fancies lydia
Nice video Lydia! Hope final year is going well.
Thank you!
you dropped your phone again? 😭
Nooo not again, I’ve uploaded my last couple videos in a bit of a mixed up order… only dropped my phone on my face once…so far 😭😂
Another great vlog Lydia. Got a bit confused at the end, wondered why you were getting glammed up to go for your run. Then realised there must have been a time-lapse 😏 . . .
awesome video lydia
oh thank God, my boyfriend has covid right now and even though we were really careful I have a 38 degree fever now.. finally a video to watch to distract myself. (my next med school term starts oct 1st so at least I didn't get ill during term) ❤
Oh no sorry you’ve been hit with Covid !! Feel better soon and good luck for your new term 🥰🥰

there is no link when u look up the links there is everything but nothing for medical apprenticeship
If you check Anglia Ruskin University website they have listed it under apprenticeships but you can currently view the information as applications are currently closed. According to their website the first medical apprenticeship course has started
but it’s not true

Good luck Lydia! I am sure you will smash it ❤
cool
Love your videos! I'm starting my first day of Law at university, this week...😅 x
i can never watch your videos without thinking how incredibly strong you are to have made it so far into your medical career, i am really proud of you ❤️
thank you Sarah <3 xx
I posted a first day of grad school vlog because you inspired me!😋
Awesome video lydia
Good luck Lydia! I start Grad Med in one week today!
congratulations ❤️
@@Sarah-pc1di thanks Sarah 😁
GOOD LUCK!!! Get ready for information overload but remember to pace yourself and keep doing things you love you in your free time :)
@@LydiaMartinMedic will do my very best Lydia, will follow your final year journey for one haha!
Yes Lydia, I echo the previous comment. Take it a step at a time, keep a cool head and you'll be fine. (Not that I've ever been a final year medical student, so perhaps I don't know what I'm talking about 😏.)
Defo gotta keep a cool head!! Thank you Martin xx
Congratulations on getting to 5th year, you’ll smash it!!!!!!! One foot in front of the other other.
Thank you!! Yes taking it day by day always :) x
Hiii. I’m a Nigerian trying to apply for Graduate entry medicine. What universities do you think I should apply to?
Great video
I can feel your pain Lydia, sending you love. This video is 7 months old and not sure if you are doing therapy already, but wanted to suggest to ask your GP to refer you to Talking Therapies. I was in a bad place when I lost one of my parents and I got bereavement therapy through my GP, and the best thing is that it was freeeee. After a while I did private therapy as well and it got expensive in the end, so I was very grateful for having the free NHS therapy first. I did not heal from that, there is no healing from losing a parent, however it helps you process stuff and with time the pain is not as bad. Can't believe you are finishing uni next year, time flies! I still remember your first year at uni and the pub days, hahaha. Wishing you all the best!!!
Question: in the US, the people who become general doctors do it because they weren't good enough to specialize (cardio, neuro, peds, ortho, surgeon, etc.). Is it that way in the UK as well? Like, are the general drs looked down upon there too?
No defo not! GPs are still "specialists" and require years of training (and getting a place on training is competitive). Some would argue it's one of the more challenging specialities as you see patients of all ages from birth to end of life and you will be taking care of patients with a huge range of conditions.
@@LydiaMartinMedic Thanks for explaining!
I have every confidence that you will be Dr Lydia by August 2025 and I cant wait to celebrate with you and Jack xx
<3
Great that you are pursing medicine! I’ve just done my architecture degree and pursing teaching in a 1yr pgce, I’m still not sure what to do afterwards so it’s great that you can sort of ‘go back’ to your profession!
Very helpful video
What do you mean when you say you were "bullied a lot" by some classes, what did they do? Can you go in to more detail in wht you had to deal with behaviour-wise as a cover supervisor?
We’re going back 5 years ago now so hard to remember the specifics 😂 from what I remember it was mostly silly behaviour, heckling etc and as a 21 year old cover teacher I probably didn’t have the confidence / behaviour management skills to stop it
Don’t you get the maintenance loan in staggered payments so I’m wondering did you ask for the full amount at once to pay for your tuition or did you pay it gradually
You can pay your tuition fees in staggered amounts in line with the maintenance loan payments so I did that!
Hey guys I'm doing medicine and surgery 4th year in Uganda... but I really would love to work in the UK after my training ... How can I bring my dream to life. And what requirements are needed.
I know its a fairly hard question to answer, but how many weeks on average per year do you have off from uni? Im reading it's as low as 6 weeks for some unis but as high as 14 weeks? Id definitely need to work during the breaks.
It has changed every year - year 1 & 2 it was around 18 weeks off (Xmas 2 weeks, Easter 4 weeks and summer 12 weeks). Year 3 we lost the long Easter so was around 12 weeks. Year 4 summer is shorter again so around 6 weeks! Year 5 at Southampton starts in July so this year I have lost august where I usually work the most! Basically pre clinical years have a lot more weeks off :) hope that helps a bit!
@@LydiaMartinMedic Thanks so much! Do you work during term time?
How many hours do you normally spend on revision/academic work on days when you have placement? :)
Good luck! I’m coming to Southampton for med school in September (if alevel results go fine) 🤩
what would your advice be for someone with a graduate with a low UCAT pretty please? Im so desperate to get in :(xx
