The world’s energy needs are growing, and to address the climate challenge, emissions across all sectors must be reduced. Decarbonisation of the industrial sector is at a much earlier stage of commercial deployment compared to the power sector. Industrial emissions make up more than 30% of global CO2 emissions and global reduction in these emissions has stalled. While there are many features that can contribute to decreasing GHG emissions from industry, such as electrification, use of renewable hydrogen, efficiency improvements, retrofitting of CCS, or fundamental changes in manufacturing approaches, this Webinar focuses on the role that sustainable biomass resources and wastes could play in helping to decarbonise the cement and iron and steel sectors.
