    Great video, I was looking forward to this one. I was never a big drinker, but several people close to me were. I felt protective over them, but didn't feel I could speak up about their drinking. Maybe it really wasn't that bad. I ended up just being a quiet enabler, pretending to drink along while keeping an on them. Congrats on 5 years 🎉

    There is nothing wrong with a little alcohol here and there, but the key word is little. Far too many lack the discipline. That applies to anything... smoking, caffeine, eating, etc. Not to mention the financial stress of purchasing any of the listed items. Now factor in the physical/mental repercussions which can lead to high doctor bills or worse. It's a major snowball effect. I'm glad you are five years clean, no easy feat. Be proud of yourself. You earned it.

    Most skincare brands - even luxury ones - don't have the budget for research & development (R&D) to really test their formulations. Many a developed at independent labs that create the same base formulations for multiple brands and then add trendy/buzzy ingredients that have no or little effect. Consumers expect to have remarkable results with skincare, and when they don't, they often blame themselves for not being "consistent" enough. For example, people expect to use SK-II and look like Cate Blanchett, but they won't without getting all the treatments and procedures she's had done. Brands don't *lie* the effects. They just elaborate the truth. They may say, for example, that a serum is brightening because it contains vitamin C. But is it a stable form of vitamin C? Is there enough in the formulation to actually have effect? In many cases, the formula has not been tested in any meaningful way. If you are interested in this subject, I recommend you check out The Beauty Brains podcast. They go into more depth about truths and deception in the beauty industry. They even review specific products. It's very interesting. I made this video to say that you have more power to change the appearance of your skin by living a healthy lifestyle and using a basic skincare routine, and also that aging is okay and natural. Don't let the man trick you into believing a magic product will keep you looking young forever. It won't, and you don't need to look young forever anyways. Thanks for watching my video! This is a small channel and I usually don't get many views, so I wasn't expecting anyone to see this.

  • @teresalehtonen8499
    @teresalehtonen8499 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Some truth, some not. Skincare products that say they have " rare flower essence" etc that kind are just marketing, but forexample retinol, C-vitamin and other antioxidants definitely NOT a scam. Antioxidants protects skin from free radicals. Sunscreen of course most important shielding the skin from collagen destrying effects of uv-rays. Im a skincare pro.

    • @colleenwelsch_
      @colleenwelsch_ 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I said this in the video. Active ingredients do work, but you don't need to spend a lot of money to obtain skincare products with active ingredients. And they won't completely change your skin, even if you use them regularly. They're not the miracle workers people believe they are.

  • @MelitaBintoro
    @MelitaBintoro 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

    would you mind elaborating where you find the deception? i've always been critical of big claims but i still trust what the effects of certain ingredients might be. some brands have better formulations even with common ingredients. i use a lot of high end skincare and was hoping to be deinfluenced from them. but honestly i'm not yet. do they lie about the effects of their product? do they make stuff up about the effects? do they not have the correct amount of the ingredients to work? like which are the most common lies???

      Perhaps I didn't explain my point well enough. What I mean is there's no need to spend $50+ on a serum or moisturizer with fancy packaging when you can get the same ingredients from The Ordinary or similar lower-price brands and they do the same thing. Most of skincare is marketing and gimmicks.

I'm bummed that you're not going to focus on the freelance writing stuff, anymore, but...I also appreciate your clarity about what's right for you, as well as your boundaries of telling people what they will and won't find here. I still find your channel to be engaging and entertaining, so far, especially regarding manifesting, self-development, and other lifestyle stuff. I am a little jelly of your grilled cheese sandwich, though. I had to give up dairy and gluten recently, for health reasons. :( I've been having dreams about pizza, grilled cheese, and other bread and cheese combinations. I loved your "Blue Bayou", BTW!!

      Oh thank you! You always leave such kind and thoughtful comments. I really appreciate it! I will have you know that I did suffer for that grilled cheese. I have a bit of lactose allergy...but every once and a while I throw caution to the wind and eat cheese!

      @@colleenwelsch_ You're welcome! Thank you re: the kind and thoughtful comments :) I will admit that I also have a hyper-critical side and I find myself having to speak up about icky situations, pretty often (like my dentists visit, yesterday, where the assistant was completely lacking empathy), but...I also try to be kind and thoughtful and generous where I can, and especially on TH-cam, because I know there's a lot of the opposite kind of thing on here. I appreciate the acknowledgement :) Anyway, I'm sorry to hear that you have dairy issues and that you suffered from your sandwich :/ I hear you about throwing caution to the wind, every once-in-a-while. When I do that, I itch for days and I'm just not okay with that. BTW, one of the things that I loved about your freelance writing videos was that you would occasionally sing about things...like you just couldn't help yourself, LOL...I'm a singer and entertainer, too, so that really spoke to me. It does seem like things are really lining up for you, with your music stuff, so that's very cool to witness! I'm still considering freelance writing, for myself, but I think it may be a little more complicated and may take more time to pull together, than I'd first imagined. In the meantime, the Universe seems to be saying "hello...pet portraits!!" to me and I just got an email from the owner of the local cat cafe, this morning, asking if he could refer people to me! That's very exciting to me, because I've started to explore my artistic side more, lately, and have been diving more deeply into watercolors. Anyway, I just wanted to share that, along the lines of doing what really speaks to our spirits, best uses our gifts, and supports us financially. Blessings! - Claire
