Great build but you could think about making the weight proportionate aka increase the weight. The visual effects of rolling and moving mass can hardly be simulated. Maybe put in some lead weight?

I have the original one an my biggest complaint about it is that is two slow an this new one looks way better.

Are the gears metal or plastic?

This set did come out in 1986, though I believe the locomotive was released individually in 1983, and may have possibly appeared in a couple other train sets between, though I could be mistaken, so don't quote me on that. It was at least designed in 1983.

I got this Christmas 1990. First time out, it clipped the kerb and shattered the front wheel.

Painful indeed. I've been working with RC projects since 2095 and the WPL front axel is the most fiddly part I've ever seen. I finally got it to be butter smooth but but but what a bad experience. Thanks again for your help. 🤪

Yeah I'm at my wits end. Everytime I think I've gone my pinion gear lind up for front axel when I used loctite pinion and assemble it just magically locks up or grinds. Can you please advise me? Edward in Osaka Japan

Those old Mabuchi motors really slapped. Toy grade RC def hit a peak in the late 80s early 90s and never was the same after.

There are sooooooo many contradictions in your "step by step" videos!!!!! You say at around 9:40 that the tops of the suspension see saw mount with the angle parts in, then a little further along "note the configuration with the angles out"!!!! If you decover you're wrong please be more clear with the corrections, or edit the f**King video accordingly!!! I've had to redo the rear axle from the previous video as it would have put the pumpkin on the wrong side. Had I not compared your verbal instruction to the assembled parts in the video!!! 🤬🤬🤬 I'd really like to "like" AND "subscribe", but you make it hard to convince myself. Back yo work spinning the tops around. Thanks for the help, Guy. 😅

Was hopeing to see before & after lol but think this setup is for hauling something heavy So maybe it might have lil bit more flex with a load on it im shure its alot heavier duty now though !!
