Hello from Ireland Andrew! Love the videos. Super shots. Been to Tenerife last year and made a vlog also (StargazerMan) heading back next summer. Clear skies!
Bit late to the game but fantastic interview! Been using Glendale App for some months now and it's brilliant to hear the behind the scenes with Mr Glendale himself. Thanks for making this happen, and thanks Andy Stables!
If I was to get a move shoot move today, what bits of their kit would I need to buy to get the most out of the system please?
Was am amazing night ❤
It is beautiful, great footage. However, the reason it is showing further south and more often is due to the weakening of the earth’s protective magnetic field. The footage and location is an indication of where we are regarding the changes to come. We are unfortunately in the red zone and time isn’t on our side. The Pole shift is very real and a part of earth’s natural cycles. The evidence for the previous shifts ( catastrophic events ) are all around you, what’s coming is known and understood by the powers that be. Less so the people and for good reason.
Fantastic
An overused word, but definitely the right one for this - epic! What a night!
It was amazing cant believe how lucky we all were to see it
Wow 🤩
Definitely the most amazing skies I ever captured and even seen with eyes only in Ireland.
Stunning, what a show 👏 😍
Thanks for sharing. I got some good photos here in Guernsey until it got too cloudy
It made it all the way down to Blackpool. I was on a night shift in the bright lights but my phone captured a green blob of a glow. I would have loved to have been out to play with my camera, but such is life. Some excellent filming there. Well done sir.
brilliant stuff :)
Always look forward to your videos, never ceases to amaze me the footage you capture
thanks so much!
Amazing Andrew, thanks for sharing
And there was me huddling under one of the few trees in Orkney with the rain coming in sidways waiting for just one break in the clouds... that never came 😅 So glad you got to see the show though!
Got loads of Pictures too in Cockenzie but last minute noticing it. it was great to see.
Great footage. We missed the most of it here.
💜 Gorgeous footage. 😊
Amazing footage last night and this mornings was amazing too hopefully you got to see it too
Hi there. I am visiting Inverness on Monday 4 November and staying Tuesday 5th November aswell..any help and advice for Arora sightings will be appreciated.❤
Fab night - check your inbox id like to buy your book 😮
Great capture - can you see the colours with your naked eye up there?
Oh yes! huge red and green on camera!
Awesome! Did you head up into the Cairngorms this time or stay close to Perth?
This was right far on the west coast, about 4hrs away from perth but the only place with clear skies
Looks amazing! Just got given your book for my birthday. Looking forward to going through it.
aw fantastic! thank you!
Hey yes , that's a nice landscape with the planets visible
Really love your photos. How do you ensure the foreground is so well lit/balanced against the sky? Is it just exposing for the foreground (rather than say doing a double exposure)? And how do you get it so sharp front-to-back at such wide apertures?
Very nice ❤, thank's for sharing
The devils lightbulb - simply there to reflect light when it should be dark - horrible thing 😮
I have the msm laser pointer and use it with my star adventurerer and still on first charge mate. I got a pack of 8 batteries I think from amazon so think you have a bad battery. I also got a 90 degree scope which i think you'd benefit from if you are just eyeballing alignment. Great video as always, would just say if you'd went further down glen Etive there's a great loch foreground but you might get some light from Oban. If your ever on the west coast again I'd suggest up near north argyllshire or loch Maree mate, bortle 1.
Just discovered the classification of the MSM Pointer Laser and its Class 3b. I think that I shall stay away from something so powerful even if my defence was only to use for polar alignment against a night sky.
Too cloudy here and vile rain too so I haven't seen a celestial object for 3 days the last being the Sun on Friday.
I know how hard it is to get a Moon Set because the timing has to be perfect and you need good conditions. You get a couple of chances a year. And sadly I could not go out to play this time. Well done.
Yeah every few months things seem to match up :)
Really nice!! Been trying moon shots recently but struggle to get foregrounds in without over exposing the moon.
always try and shoot the moon in the blue hour at dusk and dawn :)
@@scotlandsnightsky will do. Thanks
I recently started astrophotography and after numerous failures, with the help of your video, I took the best shot of my life. Love you man.... ❤
Over the last few years I've been looking at reviews of the Move Shoot Move, especially form Alyn, and the iOprton versions. Even with using the Mark One Eyeball to align the motor you got some excellent shots on the night. I did wonder how you would get a shot of the sky and the ground but you mentioning taking two shots and blending in the edit which solved that problem for me. Could the same be done with a Time Lapse with a single shot of the ground and a Time Lapse of the sky or would that just look like a cut-and-paste job? With the Move Shoot Move I do have a couple of questions which I hope you can help with. The first question may take a few months to answer and that is the build quality and durability of the device. Hopefully you will test it to destruction this winter and be able to say how reliable it is compared to the more heavy and bulky iOptron. My second question is, are we allowed to use the laser in the UK. I got nervous about buying one because I could not find any information on the internet about its use compared to its strength. Its all pretty vague.
Yeah timelapse would look a bit fake like if the foreground was identically the same. So far the build quality is pretty good so far but yes still early days with it so not tested with harsh frost etc yet. And as far as i'm aware there isn't a problem with lasers in the UK but I would be very cautious around airports etc. :)
I went and bought a nomad with the polar scope and it should arrive this week. I bottled out of the laser. I then found a website with the legalities of lasers in the UK and it would appear that the MSM laser is five times more powerful than what is legally allowed to be sold in the UK. To make my life less stressful, in case plod ever came calling while I was out taking images, I decided not to get one. I’ve also watched a few reviews where it broke very quickly after purchace for such an expensive bit of kit. I am actually looking forward to getting my Nomad as it is getting some really good reviews compared to all the complaints of the original MSM. Looks like they listened to customer comments and made some solid improvements. I went and bought the V & Z mounts but after watching a few reviews, I may not need the V mounts. I use Fluid Level heads for all my camera work and it would seem that my Fluid Head performs the same duties as a Wedge, or V Mount. We’ll see how that goes. I just hope this winter is not as wet or cloudy as last winter.
Thanks for the review Andrew. I have just received mine. Decided to order 2 laser pointers that I will take out with me. Waiting for clear skies
great stuff! best of luck with it!
Glad you’re getting on well with it, Andrew - I love mine. Absolutely perfect for what I do and easily does 2 minutes at 50mm - looking forward to trying the 135 on it too. Sorry about your laser issues - mine is still on the first charge and has kept going strong. So maybe you’ve got a wrong’un?
Ah great to hear that it must just be my poor battery! Glad you’re having success with it!
Enjoyed your great review👍 I've used the previous model of msm for a few years, and found it flawless. The laser does require minor tweaks so that it is parallel with the msm device! Once set, it is accurate. No problem with laser battery....not even run flat in alI this time! If Polaris isn't viewable, I've used a compass clinometer for alignment. Obviously, need to know your latitude at that location. Great images btw👌
Cheers! No idea why my battery keeps going dead then 😢
Loving that little device 👌. Cool to see you can actually come away pretty well even without the laser!
Probably will as my battery just keeps going flat for some reason 😢
@@scotlandsnightsky yeah thats weird man! Haven't needed to charge my laser yet since I bought it.
Great review mate, did you get a chance to test it out with a 3kg payload to see how it is at that weight?
Cheers man, and nah not tried anything too heavy yet unfortunately, will need to test it
@@scotlandsnightsky would be good to hear as it’s a smart bit of kit
I had a similar problem with the laser, in my case though it was the battery connection in the laser itself. Try and unscrew the body of the laser and adjust the battery connection up a bit, worked for me. Thanks for the video Andrew.
@@paradanglers will give this a go thank you!
Awesome,do you need to have one of these for photographing the milky way
@@seanallan3042 it just helps getting a bit more detail. Can still photograph the Milky Way fine with 20/30 seconds
@@scotlandsnightsky cool thank you I try for northen lights so it’s kinda along the same lines, never got the Milky Way,thank you
Cracking video. Got my Nomad last week and the difference between the Mk1 MSM and the Nomad MSM is night and day. Their research dept must have taken all the critiques on board because they've done a really good job with this latest tracker. Well worth the money to boot. As far as the laser battery is concerned ~ I have a spare Duracell 123 lithium in the camera bag that works great should the supplied battery run out of power. Cheers, Richard
Good idea to have a backup!
Wow! did you catch last night?
Beauty!
Excellent app! It would be so much better if the maps were larger and you had the ability to zoom in. Conditions such as cloud can change considerably over a short distance.
From Glendale App on this matter: Why don't the maps zoom? This is for YOUR personal safety and security. The main reason for someone to zoom an aurora map is to try to work out where YOU are standing. YOU DO NOT want a crowd of people turning up at your special location. When YOU are out alone in the dark you do NOT want other users to track YOU down. It keeps you and your special location private. When you see a green tick that is covered over by red crosses, zooming in to find out which village the aurora is being reported from will not help you to see it. The reason it is covered in red crosses is because either someone reported it by mistake or it has since faded. The aurora isn't hiding in a tiny village in Someshire and can only be seen that one spot. If the majority of users in an area say it's not there, then take that as a VERY LARGE HINT that it really isn't there. Likewise, if a green tick is covered in clouds, zooming in won't help you find clear sky. You only need a well-placed opening in the clouds for 30 seconds to confirm the aurora. The gap they had is likely to be long gone. You are going to have a tough gig. You will need to get off the sofa and go look outside yourself.
Wow! How beautiful . I really enjoyed watching this video :0)
Wow! How fabulous ! We’ve been to Scotland many times and never been lucky enough to see it .
I just bought A7s for aurorae. Could you tell me what exactly settings do you use in videos? - range of ISO 50-100k ok? - 25 FPS with 1/25s using tripod would be acceptable or going 1/30s, 1/50s is necessary? - I can't set up custom White Balance in movie mode - why is it? - what are those S-LOG profiles? do we use it in Aurora videos? - etc.
As always Andrew, absolutely stunning, Thankyou for sharing
