Yes… we went to the lake near by.. Felt so much better ❤️🙏😇🙌
Yes!!! A friend of mine recently bought a jumper from Shein- I told him about them and he was horrified. He actually managed to cancel the order, and I found the original design (that they of course ripped off) and it was available secondhand. He couldn't believe there wasn't more negative publicity about Shein. Everyone keep talking to their friends about it!!
Have you tried the make-up tips I mentioned?
Lovely 😍 bedding 😊 Could you tell me more about it?
So they just buy it from abroad so scotland loses out, i don't like plastic but oil is a necessity
@@KrisRoberts114 the oil from this oil field would be going to the global market anyway, it wouldn’t make oil prices cheaper for people in Scotland. The oil fields are basically depleted. I agree we need oil atm for a transition but we are already pumping, instead we could invest the money into green energy in Scotland that could benefit local communities for the long term
@LifeBeforePlastic it doesn't matter, I would prefer it to go to the local market but even if it's just bringing jobs that's better than nothing, some of us have this myopic view of the fuel market in UK where they think less production or involvement by us is a good thing when it simlly isn't, we do less and the big polluters do more and guess what that's who we buy from and then make even more pollution bringing it here when we have our own, I'm not hating btw your heart is in the right place but honestly trying to throttle or shut down our own fuel economy is a huge own goal, it doesn't benefit anyone but the very worst contributers
@ I understand where you are coming from but I don’t think it’s a good idea to keep giving out license for NEW oil & gas. We should be investing that into green energy. We need a transition but we have licenses for that already without a new oil field. The fact is that we need to crack on with the transition because we’re already seeing natural disasters caused by the climate crisis. Investing in the right green infrastructure should be a no brainer
@LifeBeforePlastic I wish smart enquiring minds (like ours) could come together and openly discuss these issues then come to an agreement, it's unfortunate but it seems there's too many on both sides with closed minds who say it's their way or the highway, I like the idea of financing looking into newer cleaner forms of energy and you are clearly in agreement that a transition is better than just cold turkey (if that's even possible without death) I like you, you're not arrogant or nasty about your position with your view on mine and we both know pollution is no1 issue I think.. i could have misread..
I’ve been using the same canvas bags for 25 years which (conservatively calculated) means I’ve refused over 10,000 plastic bags just on my regular shopping trips.
@@sbon4771 this is amazing! Such a great way to think about your individual impact 👏
I’m starting to take my reusable containers when go eat & my metal straws for dining out. 🙏🙌😇❤️ 🍔 Imperfect progress.
I try to reuse that bag for trash bag liner or poop 💩 bag for my fur-baby 🙏❤️🙌😇♻️🐶 Imperfect progess
Very cool
I’m doing an eco conscious return from Fabletics. I’m still working on phasing out buying items. Imperfect but progress. 🙏🙌😇❤️♻️
Need get my library card to check out 📕 & audio books.
I buy this eco label chocolate. Taste better & phasing out buying big corporations.
Very cool. Now I know
You've won nothing yet. The owners can seek fresh approval from the government. Also work can continue while new information is gathered.
@@Nick-ic8vn I’m fully aware, but now the government have to actually consider the emissions from what will be pumped which is a pretty big step forward and a ground breaking decision.
I used backmarket for my phone, its gross to think of the waste and harm caused by the 'need' for the latest newest tech.
Acknowledging that Apple is a huge contribution to this but still buying Apple products. 😂 Peak "Pick me" energy.
@@Lolbama2012 I’m an ordinary person, please do feel free to suggest better alternatives that I can buy from next time or that others can learn from
Planned obsolescence?! Jesus Christ, conspiracy theory harder will you? 13 years of continuous use before developing a problem that prevents booting is a really good run. I guarantee it could be easily repaired and you could get another 13 years out of it if you want.
My mom does this & collects rain water. 🙏❤️🙌😇♻️
Growing up we always ate roasted pumpkin seeds …❤❤
13 years. Wow 🤩. I remember when laptops would last 2-5 years before becoming frustratingly unusable. Apple has set the bar insanely high.
I had to fix it in this time but yeah it did well
Do you have any Zero -waste swaps for your Fur-baby 🙌❤️😇🙏🐶♻️
❤
Very cool 😎
Or if you can afford it get it fix?
Yes of course fix first
I need to start doing those 🙌🙌 We’re saving our coffee grinds to use in garden. 🪴 One day I will learn to compost. We have coyotes & all sort of wildlife here in Dallas, Texas. Just concerned 😦.
I am phasing out my extreme couponing & going toward refillable stores. I don’t want plastic packaging & waste. I am reusing glass jars or plastic containers when I can. ( Storage for fur-baby food.❤🐶) There is a Sprouts near by & will be buying my snacks, etc there. ( Budget dependent) Recycling ♻️ Up cycling Buying less. Start taking my containers/straw for leftovers .. Filter water pitcher instead of bottle water for me & Indy Rommel ❤️🐶. Imperfect sustainability for me & my fur-baby ❤️🐶 Still learning .. still learning 🙏🙌❤️😇♻️
TF did u do to your voice, speak normally please... But appart from that, 13 years aint planned obsolescence. That s like 2-5 years. But I am with you at buy refurbished, recycle etc. Thats all good stuff.
This is my normal voice, thanks for shaming it lol.
Ooooooor. You install linux.
Ok thanks I didn’t know about it before I posted this video but lots of people have told me about it in a condescending tone 👍
I need one of those drying racks.. been meaning to look for one … @ thrift etc
I'm sorry to hear that it apparently does not work for everyone! I am super satisfied though^^ Started using the Wild deo at the end of last year because I suddenly started having big problems with sweating and smelling and my prior deo did not work anymore for me. Since I started usind Wild I am sweating less (though I definitely did not stop sweating completely). The best part though that when I do sweat I simply does not stink at all! I just smell like the product (tried the vanilla coconut and cherry blossom scent). Especially cherry blossom seems to work really well for me. <3
If EVERY person in the world recycled it still wouldnt even fractionally offset the damage cause by major companies. Stop this "do your part" shit while you're shilling Apple
@@thelpcritic I call out companies and ask people to be better. Those aren’t 2 mutually exclusive things.
At least with a desktop its somewhat modular. You can swap out components relitivly easily. With laptops most things are soldered in and can be replaced you just need somome to do it. And they are making it harder and harder to do lol
@@darklink594 yeah I luckily had the help of my partner who’d changed a battery before but I would have taken it to a tech repair shop to help
Well.. sadly (at least right here in germany) its not that simple.. when buying refurbished Electronics youre basically playing a lottery.. for example the mother of a friend of mine recently bought a used iPhone with a glass back. Long story short: just one year later the phone (which was bought at a company called swappie by the way) basically fell apart. As the refurbisher used probably just the cheapest available parts for the phone the glass backing of the phone fell off (so no more wireless charging), the lower microphone stopped working (so no more calls without headphones) and lastly we also noticed when opening, that the screen also wasnt original but some cheap lcd.. another example would be my iPad pro.. bought for around 800€ 1.5 years ago i just noticed 3 weeks ago, that when compared to the iPad of a colleague of mine, who has the same iPad as i have, the colours of my screen look washed-out and if you use the apple pencil with that device, that the lines you draw look squiggly (which hints at a replacement screen).. So yes, buying refurbished may be better than buying new in regards of the Environment but in my opinion buying a used product which wasnt broken in the first place and opened by some greedy corporation just to be repaired with the cheapest components available on the market seems to be an even better option (at least if youre experienced enough to differentiate a non-tinkered-with device from one, which has replacement parts or even isnt original in the first place).
13 years is longer than my golden doodle lived. I wouldn’t keep a laptop that long. I think you got every minute of value out of it.
@@takenusername I’m sorry for your loss. I don’t know how I made it that long but I refused to buy a new one for a long time
Great short! Nice jumper 😊
I refuse to buy new electronics tbh
I tend to sleep on it, if I still want it tomorrow I’ll consider it again. It’s amazing how many things I don’t want just 12 hours later
Thank yoooou for sharing this is such important information on so many levels ❤❤❤
i've been trying to get into sewing my own clothes and it's been so fun!! definitely recommend learning to sew :)
Regardless of the environmental impact (which is horrendous) and other bad stuff, Shein quality is trash and bottom of the barrel. Even if you have a restricted budget you’re buying a shoddy dress that would be most likely itchy, badly adjusted or of a wrong size. I have a friend who had plenty of Shein and they ended in the trash pretty quickly, completely destroyed. Instead of wasting money on this let people wear something they have or can borrow if you have really no fund for themz
Dude it’s even worse when like.. it’s the _one_ thing affordable to you while having any ounce of personality to it Bc it’s not just clothes, it’s down to the decor and house utilities- ALL of it is cheap
I get not having money. I've been very poor for most of my adult life. But buying clothes that can't really be worn, and has cancer-inducing materials is never worth your money! You deserve better ❤️
You forgot wish.
this
Yea it's crazy, and I'm so tired of people saying "oh well, not my problem" and "who gives a sh*t" when I try to spread awareness.
is there no way to get a new OS on your old laptop? I go to a local tech repair place that has never failed to repair any of our tech with new parts of whichever part is broken.
@@Waterwave37 yeah there is and I did that. I also changed the battery and hard drive. But it started running really slow, couldn’t use it for basic things and I need to use it for work
@ annoying but unfortunately sometimes it do be like that. Love your vids BTW. We need more sustainability+environmental educational and resource vids like yours. ❤️
This laptop's going to end up in the ocean😮
@@steveclark9934 i mean it definitely isn’t 😅
yea I read the report about Lead a few weeks ago. I have only ever ordered from Shein once before but never again. The effects of lead, especially on kids, or pregnant adults & adults trying to have kids, or who want them in the future, are incredibly harmful and can cause serious issues, and basically any lead, even if its under what regulator organizations say is "safe" is not in fact safe to consume.
I will say that I don’t condone buying from shien… but I do want to point out that many people can’t afford to spend money on “sustainable” fashion brands (regardless of them being worth the price, the articles lasting long enough to be passed down, etc). Unfortunately, even thrifting has become a commodity and has substantially increased pricing for those that genuinely need the clothing/household items. Sustainability is amazing and if you can afford to do it then obviously that’s preferable… but not everyone has the same luxuries.
This is often touted but I honestly don't agree. The clothes from Shein are trendy plastic that isn't comfortable or cute and breaks apart quickly. There's a difference between "thrift sustainably although it shouldnt be getting as expensive and is being filled with crap fast fashion" and "actively participate and give money to such a horrible company"
Thing is 'sustainability' as in paying fair wages and safe working conditions aren't 'luxury' they're human rights, and anyone whose trying to protect the aesthetic convenience of working class people in high income countries against working class people (normally 15- 21 year old women) in south east Asia isn't a pro-poor flex. No-one deserves to look cute more than another's safety or dignity, and definitely not for a one of piece of occasion wear
Thrifting is just as cheap
