Amazon sells magnetic sheets that could replace the blue tack.
That is a great idea! I need to try them out.
This is awesome!
Fantastic video! I'm thrilled to see you've returned to TH-cam.
I lovvvve that you brought out the Die Wurst zine.
Yeah! That's the biggest reason we developed the new edition. It was tough to get on the table and I hated flipping through the book everytime I needed to deal with a monsters stats. I do love your work arounds, though.
My travel version is 5mm scale. You need a pair of tweezers to play and the tiles hardly stay together. I may upsize from there to 15 or 10mm and include actual miniatures. Everything is conducted with 5mm disks cut out of gift cards and old credit cards with a hole punch and hand painted. Larger monsters are manually cut to size of 10mm.
I've not seen THIS particular version, and it looks awesome! Watching again, I thought river crossings worked a bit differently.... 1) First, you make a Lost roll using the value of the terrain table you are in currently. 2) If you did not get lost, you make a second roll using the Lost roll on the River table. 3) If you do not get lost, roll for an Event in the terrain you landed on.
Great video! I can't seem to find the Events book in the drives, could you help me? TIA
Love this!
I recently found your channel. Thanks for showing this old gem off.
Hi, may I ask you for the file please? Thanks a lot for the work and all the tips for making these!
Excellent job breaking things down to their core; this makes it easier to see what is important in a solo RPG adventure, by trying to understand "what is missing"... 1) An important aspect of dungeons is the concept of "levels" which increases the treasure one can gain (the monster difficulty increases too). This is a strong incentive to continue adventuring for the advantages to be gained by "going to deeper levels". If you add levels, you will probably have to increase the cap on character abilities too? 2) The ability to hire "henchman" is important to help increase the chances of long-term success for the main character. They must be paid & fed. This concept would also be linked to the ability for multiple player characters. 3) The concept of "exploration" is important, where one can discover the boundaries of the land mass, the ocean & other land masses. This also creates "regional politics" which includes both war/peace and trade. 4) Gaining "influence" in the region is also a strong incentive for playing. This is an advanced concept that manifests in play, once one has achieved good success in the dungeons. Being able to construct a "stronghold". This allows players to attract a following, help to defend the local inhabitation from regional attacks, engage in offensive regional attacks & create passive income. I think these things are important for long-term re-playability.
I like how scars are featured in this game. Really on point for the anime theme.
You should sell these. I'd buy a copy for sure.
I just finished my role play system!! My new game that I designed is coming very soon.
i was listening and now watching this seems mad complicated, but thanks for the review, hope others love it
Can you do something like this for HeroQuest?
Such a cool version! Always felt like redesigning the contents in a b&w inked old school theme with smaller footprint for everything. Your video puts things in perspective!
Oh did I need this! Thank you sooo much! My rules light and osr games leave this out. Focusing on combat mostly.
Perfect preparation while I’m too busy to read the book! Thanks! Subscribed.
Your comments on skills encouraging gaming is a good one. I would add that they add variety. Rolling your lock pick skill immediately adds differentiation to rolling your persuasion skill. In Ironsworn gaining an advantage is so heavily used that it can feel repetitive. Although the narrative comes first it isn’t helped by the system. I find it hard to keep the game interesting when the mechanics are stripped away.
I hope to see updates more often on this channel, and more solo RPGs
Tiago Junges is one of the most prolific rpg creator on the brazilian scene! It's a pleasure to see this featuring in your channel!
Well done Mel!!
New Kickstarter for repacked rules is now live: kck.st/49EHtAL
Quick tip with standees bases, if you clip a clothes peg on them, and drop them in boiling water, it will reduce the width of the gap, so they hold thinner card stock.
You, sir, are a genius. Thankyou so much for this comment!
Where are the pdfs at little monks site? I can‘t find them…🤷🏼♂️
So cool but that room is claustrophobic
Yea. It’s a bit cramped but WHQ has always been like that :)
Excellent, thanks for sharing. I like the use of the laminated character cards, perhaps you could create a simplified character sheet to put on the back of each card, as it won't take up any more space and may be easier to track HP's, Gold, etc rather than on the card front.
That is a great idea! I will take a look to see if that is possible!
Love it!
Wonderful, I'll take two please.
You did a great job! It looks great!
Oh man this is great. I’m actually going to use 15mm minis!
I love this , I am going to get this! And I can color the pictures like you did..., Dude 1980's style love this! Subbed.
Glad you like it!
It's a shame you didn't demonstrate combat. I was looking forward to a good example of that. Btw, you triggered a civilian encounter in this video but you said most things besides raiders are not hostile and can be ignored. Where does it say that in rule book? I thought for all encounters you have to re-roll if you want to trigger a successful escape @MelvLee
Ah never mind, I found it. It's on pg 22 next to the combat win rewards chart.
Glad you managed to figure it out! Btw I think there will be an upgraded version of Courier this year so the combat rules may change again!
Nice to see you back Mel.
Nicely done, Melv!
Soooo nice!!!! Thank you very much for sharing!!
Wow that's awesome. These would sell truckloads if they were sold pre-made.
Doors by Nick Thornton don’t exist in the DD files section. Just checked.
You are right. It’s actually in one of his comment. I will add the Google drive link directly
drive.google.com/file/d/1Yd0Ws5ZBUgWsIk3Jr0npt6wPEMGK7P2y/view?usp=drivesdk&fbclid=IwAR3Agsw3Zd-nj7gibaTVRARmzudO4XGw91sWjsWfPg-N7vrmn-a7RoOOm8A
@@MelvLee awesome thanks.
The standees and the bases seem oversized for the 15mm grid tiles. How about converting them to counters/tokens instead (which will make the set even more compact)? It's a neat idea to write directly on the character cards. I recommend using matt laminating pouches instead of the common glossy ones. The surface feels more paper like. Ink get smudged less easily. You can even use erasable pens and eraser.
Yes! Tokens will work brilliant and more uniformed! I use tokens on my original WHQ all the time. For this build, I want to try and see if I can still fit base and standee in the tiny box. And yes, the 20mm base are a bit big for the 15mm squares but they are also the cheapest and most common around. And good tip on the Matt laminate sheet. Definitely will check that out!
Wow! Great work. I need one of these!
even though ive a 3d printer i very tempted for coin capsule minis like this for easy no painting straight to game and space, consider 10mm and 15mm capsules
Yes it allows us to make travel edition of our favourie board games too!
This is really cool. I've never played warhammer quest, but I dig this self made DIY version.
This is a great idea. Thank you for sharing this travel version with us!
Congratulations on the baby!!! It is good to see that you are back!
Thank you!!
You have been missed. Glad your back. Happy and healthy new year,
Ha! I have this, and another pnp game, set up on my kitchen table now!
Time for the Dungeon Dive bump :) Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!!
Congrats on the child. I wondered what had become of you. I am glad it was a joyous absence.
Thank you so much! It's been a crazy but joyous ride as a first time parent for sure :)
This game looks fantastic except for the fact that there are no mechanical differences between characters. I really wish these small games had classes or professions or something.
Nice thick book 👍
