    Your garden is lovely Sherry! I'm on the east coast of Canada -- zone 6B and grow in a very small urban garden in raised beds and many containers. My sunflower seeds always have tiny holes in the ends with tiny worms -- I grow them for the beauty and for the birds :). Those " Shishito" peppers look like maybe a Poblano pepper? Definitely not Shishito -- they grow as skinny medium long peppers -- very prolific. This year I purchased Collard seed from a well known company- thought I'd try them, and grew turnips! LOL

    I asked our local nursery if I should be putting wood chips on my garden like you have. That’s what another gardener on TH-cam said to do. She said to NOT do that because it would steal nitrogen from the soil??? I think she was just trying to get me to buy mulch. Your plants look beautiful and healthy. Mine, not so much. 😕 Any advice?

    • @GardeningintheNorth
      @GardeningintheNorth 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hello! That's actually funny because the owner of our local nursery told my husband the same thing. 😆If they were mixed all the way through, I would agree, but they are on top. I've never had any issues with a lack of nitrogen. There are many gardeners that use wood chips on their gardens, but if your garden was lacking nitrogen, you could plant peas and beans throughout your garden for nitrogen. Or use an organic fertilizer. I give my garden a lot love. I call it my "me" time. I listen to an audio book and I water, weed, prune, deadhead, and just love it 🙂 my favourite fertilizer is Marphyl Organic liquid fertilizer found on Amazon. Thank you and Happy Gardening 😊

    I take the small onions off the top and replant them in another bed. For next year. Adult plants are harvested every other plant the rest I leave for next year it gives you a continuous amount of onions and you don’t having to thin them

      I do something very similar! The ones I pull I put through my food processor and slice them up, then freeze them in vacuum pack bags. I only have one bag left from last year! I was going to plant a bunch tonight, but it was pouring. I just love these onions.

    Been using Ruth Stout method for years now and my advice would be to put the potato’s on the soil with NO straw underneath them. I put about a foot of straw on top of the potatoes. Perhaps putting straw under them contributed to the easy pickins for the varmints. Just a thought though.

    Hi Sherry, hope all is well with you and the family. Couple questions about these planters. Can they be moved inside for the winter and planted out again? Would you have to put new soil in them, each year?

      @GardeningintheNorth หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! We are all good, thank you 🙂 I hope you are having a great gardening season! Yes, they can definitely be moved inside. It would be similar to having a citrus tree outside on the porch in the summer and then bringing it inside for the cooler months. My only concern would be the water drain. You could place it on a boot tray to catch any runoff water. You would also need to amend the soil. And remember to fertilize it often. I'm most likely going to put mine in my husband's garage (he doesn't know yet 🤣) for the winter. In the spring, I will pull them back out. I will amend the lettuce / herb tower by adding some new soil and fertilizing, and then replanting. For the strawberry tower, I plan on amending the pockets and adding fertilizer, and then I will wait to see which pockets I need to replant new strawberry plants. I hope this helps!

      @@GardeningintheNorth great to hear and that is what i figured. Once i do get a couple I'm not sure where i would put them but I'll figure it out. I was also thinking they might also need some supplemental lighting for the winter months.

    I hope you answer this reply because I know your video was over a year ago. Can you please tell me why you didn’t cook your eggs first where all the other videos I was watching people scrambled them up then dehydrated them can you tell me the safety and or difference

    • @GardeningintheNorth
      @GardeningintheNorth หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! Great question. If your goal is to rehydrate for scrambled eggs, then cooking first could be the way to go. I've never done it that way. Dehydrating raw eggs gives you the option of using the rehydrated egg in other things like baking. I hope this answers your question 🙂

    Will you please share time and temp for the darling dehydrated oranges, as well as the chamomile and lemon balm?

    • @GardeningintheNorth
      @GardeningintheNorth หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! The Chamomile was done at 105. The oranges were done at 135. I do all herbs at 105. If you are doing both at the same time, start at 105 until the herbs are done, remove them, and leave the oranges in at 135 until done. I hope this helps.
