Quite the process to plant. I would never have thought to plant the asparagus on a dirt meatball but makes so much sense for the roots.
    Such a informative video.
    Always a pleasure Sherry. ❤

Thank you I was thinking about planting those next year. I noticed you made your bed alot shorter. My wife ask me couple days ago if I can plant them next year sounds like a plan for us. Thanks again aways great info from you ✌️😊

Hello my friend, yes I decided to save money on materials by making them shorter. These are just my perennial beds, so I won’t be doing a lot of gardening in them like the others. Plant a few this year so that you are ahead of the game. Thanks for watching 😊

Hi Sherry I am going to be planting 200 asparagus plants tomorrow in my older inground garden. Very excited about it. We have a small patch there already and they love the soil there. I was thinking of interplanting strawberries in the same bed. Any thoughts on that?

WOW!!! 200 is amazing. Roasted asparagus, bacon wrapped, asparagus and eggs, asparagus soup, asparagus cooked in tomato sauce, raw asparagus….. yum! They can definitely go together and will grow great harvests. My only thought is on the asparagus ferns. Will they shade out the strawberries? Or maybe you have a great way to keep them from growing so tall and falling over? PLEASE share this if you do. Every year I attempt to tie them up…..it’s not pretty 🤣

HI Sherry. I was wondering how your asparagus made it through your cold winter temps when planted in containers or garden beds? I'm in Saskatchewan so my winter temps can drop into the -30s.

Hello! I planted out 2 raised beds (2 ft tall) with asparagus crowns last year, and they did amazing this year. They looked just as good as the ones I grew in the ground at our last place. I believe only one crown didn't produce. The ferns look very healthy.

@@GardeningintheNorth thanks! I have mine in the ground but the quack grass has taken over!

Oh no! That’s actually horrible news considering it really takes 3 years to start fully harvesting. Can you dig them up and replant in a raised bed?
