Steep, wet, and thorny. Vancouver Island is no joke and neither are the creatures that inhabit the terrain. This video is the product of our experience while on the search for Roosevelt Elk. The draw odds for getting this LEH hunt are not high. We needed all hands on deck. 4 guys with Blacktail tags and 1 lucky dude with a Rosey tag. Another weekend, another hunt. Out again after the biggest critters here in BC, The moose. Each weekend is a building block with a new curve to learn. In this video I’m hunting in a previously successful area for myself. Lacking the amount of time I need for the hunt, I am still able to cover lots of ground and come across some new swamps. This is a spot that I plan on going back to at some poi...

Does this hurt the animal?
Been hunting moose in bc for 55 yeara ..with my twin brother.... OFTEN ... ONE CALL .and a bull moose starts grunting... of course timing is important many times, I've had two or three moose coming towards me at same time
True but you do have to be within relatively close proximity to hear that grunt, I do know that you can call them in from a ways away. And it can take them a bit to get to that proximity. Thats why I will call more than once after a certain period of time. Obviously there are a lot of variables that come into play. That’s very cool I’m hoping I get to experience that one day. Thanks for the insight.
@truetineoutdoors true... but I have called animals in hmmm from 1-2 miles away... last four seasons I dumped moose ALL which I called in...
@truetineoutdoors looks like a good area where you were hunting.. Water, feed, and timber ... A few Areas where I hunt, year after year...the moose...They're STILL THERE... Yah, we've harvested a lot of animals my dad, 65 years, my twin brother and I ...50 + years...always seem to be lucky I guess... cheers and all the best...
Right on man, thanks for the insight. It’s all just time in the field at the end of the day ain’t it! Good luck next season man
Good job on the subtitles. Nothing more annoying in a hunting video than to have guys whispering and not being able to make out what they're saying.
Thank you for the insight, couldn’t agree more, definitely a tough thing to recognize when you first start creating tho
Spotting scope setup?
Diamondback 16-48x65
@ Thanks, appreciate it! Congrats on the 4 point this year
Thanks man, thanks for tagging along
Didn't recognize you on any of the videos from the cameras. There's a couple it didn't look like you saw. Thanks for not messing with the site! Good luck with the stick and string.
Dude all in good fun! How many other cams you get me on? Thanks pal, good luck as well!
@@truetineoutdoors 2 others. I keep them tucked away and hung high on trails into the site. You get a little suspicious when you've had cameras locked to trees that have been cut off. I can appreciate a good joke though and that was funny now that I know it's you. Cheers.
Haahhahaha 😂😂😂
lol cheers guy
HighBC squared
Hard to last that time of year and pull back a bow. My favourite hunt was the nov 25-dec10? Mule deer hunt in reg 8, any buck with bow. Still can’t get over it lol
That’s awesome man, that late season grind is real, feels like you’re the only one out there as well. That is until you end up shirtless on somebody else’s camera…
That was great ! I have cameras all over the place, and it would be funny to see something like that. I only ever get the odd person walking past, and they rarely know the camera is there.
Hahaha start the trend, next can you go by, “the shirtless Sasquatch walk”
What calibre?
300 win
One heck of a shot 👍
lol thanks, had no choice I would have lost the arrow
awesome vidoe brotha. could you make a video regarding late season whitetail e-scouting? thanks!
Thanks man! I may do that in the off season! Sounds like a fun topic to cover!
What region are you from. from Vancouver island hunting ain’t the best here can’t find spots only really go off the island once a year for a group hunt with family
From Region 8 but hunt a lot of regions. Find those pockets!
@that’s hard over here not enough forest to be able to explore
There’s tons of forest over there! Deep and steep for those BTs!
Wow😂 you are so good at installing this little wood stove!! 😊I want you to install one for me in my truckcamper😊😊❤❤ I love it "
lol thanks for watching
Wow😂 you are so good at installing this little wood stove!! 😊I want you to install one for me in my truckcamper😊😊❤❤ I love it "
Would you share what brand of trail cameras you use?
I use a few, but lately I’ve been buying cheapo ones off of amazon
Izeeker
A shovel is 100% a mandatory tool in BC November Whitetail Hunting 😅 I literally dug myself out for 6 days straight this past week in Kootenays.
Lool gotta have it!
Whitetails are always so challenging, especially in the timber in your area. I hunt a very similar spot to the north, and I really do feel so much of it is right place at the right time- then what makes it count is your setup. The deer density is solid! I find it's often that entering my spot to ground call is damn hard to not disrupt a ton of deer. However, ever so often you get an estrus doe roll through and things get real western. Persistence is such a big factor at the end of the day. Good to see you're getting time out there, man.
Thanks for the insight, I feel like you need to be doing the prep work in a spot before September. I’m a little late out the gate here and that’s fine, just learning as I go, hoping to throw a stand up for the first time. Test the patience
I’m curious, all the work you put into putting the wood stove in your camper, do u find it to heavy or just a pain in the ass to load up for the weekend
As a hunter I want to be as versatile as possible, and with the camper on I would not be able to get into about 90% of the spots I go.
Hell yeah dude, I done this same trip a handful of times and it’s exactly as you described throughout (actually last year was the first year in a while I didn’t go). Really cool to watch your hunt, takes me back. Got me motivated to plan a little jaunt over once it’s bow season again. I’ll keep an eye out for your truck.
@@ngtlaw that’s awesome man. Yea keep an eye out for me this year. I should back there to close out the season.
u in K town
Nah man
I recommend you listen to your video with regards to your rattling. It’s too rhythmic. You need to vary the cadence smack then tickle then smack and smack again then small tickles then separate with a clash then stomp or thump them in ground. Pause then tickle slightly then smack then clash then tickle etc. You seem to get into a trance and don’t vary the cadence enough. Just trying to help. Love watching your vids as soon as you post. Keep up the great posts. Plus late in season bucks are on does or looking for them. Try a doe bleat. I recommend rut roar by primos. The Estrous bleat setting worked great for me this year.
Thanks for the expertise! Yea the rattling has definitely come to a close I’m just going out on a whim there hoping for a curious dude. I think I’m switching the tactics to tree stand sits now. Gonna be hard, I’m impatient lol. Thanks for watching!
I was going to say the same about the rattling being too rhythmic. It sounds unnatural, and in the woods - unnatural sounds might have the opposite effect. Although I know you have had some success with your rattling.
Yea it could use a little touch up but I think it ain’t bad. You hunt WTs here in BC?
The truck starts again! That's good news!
Yesir!
@truetineoutdoors What was the issue?
Fuel pump
Don’t forget to take snow chains.
Yup getting a little risky out there, don’t try this at home folks
Weiner soup 👌 my favorite
Weiner water soup, one of a kind
Saw the short video.. come here for the full video.. thanks
Right on, thanks for watching
Can't tell if this is Tex or Bow - looks like a great time. Love watching your videos. Epic shot of the dog right when you're doing the rundown of your camp. Is that a bottle opener on his collar? Because... that's hilarious.
Frank the TANK!
Haha! Franks a beauty, thanks for watching. It’s Tex
NICE....NO MUSIC ... which i like.... however, many hunting videos have music blasting...
Cheers pal
Relatable hunting content as always- love seeing real assault rifles in use
Thanks Kev
So what was wrong with your truck when it wouldn’t start ?
The ole fuel pump was gone
I forgot to ask before but what loads are you using in your 7x57? Do you handload or do you shoot factory?
Factory 7mm Mauser loads, can’t remember the make
Follow Up. Which MU in Okanagan are you most often in? Ie. I'm closest to 8-12
Sorry no specific MUs
OK. I was just curious. We live in 8-12.
Nice lots of whitetail near yea!
@truetineoutdoors definitely. This is my first year taking my archery into the forest. It's been amazing reclaiming my heritage, and I'm excited to learn and then teach my kids. It's definitely a lot of work to learn. I've spent a lifetime hiking the forest, but I always used volume to discourage predators investigating us. Now I'm out trying to be silent in the forest. Very different game. I have my stalking down. And I can find deer tracks. 8 just need to figure out how to find them during 'daylight'...
You will get your opportunities! Way to put in the work! Always hunting, always learning!
Are you planning to go bow hunting in December?
Yea I should be out with the bow in December
Nice lookin area your hunting in bud , try rattling for less time like short quick battles work better for me ; I find if I rattled for more than 10 seconds at a time it scares them away just letting you know what experience in my 40 years of rattling good luck bro
Thank you, really appreciate the feedback, question for yea. Are you moving around throughout the day? Or are you stand hunting? (Full day sits). Are you only rattling at certain times throughout the day? First 2 hours, last 2 hours? I’m pretty new to rattling these buggers in. Any useful information would help.
Lost me at "something was wrong with my gun duuu"
Lol
Been sitting at -12 up here, haven’t seen anything. 😣
Keep grinding!
Siick vid keep em commin
Cheers
Love the vids man! Question, how often are you moving between your spots to rattle?
Thanks man! Probably too much, but really I’m just trying to find my sweet spot. What seems to work for me. I would say I’m roughly 1.5 hours to 2 hours between rattling. Which I feel need to be spaced apart a tad and I also need to be further from the last location of rattling. But that’s just speculation. I’m not an experienced whitetail hunter.
Great Roosevelt bull!
Thanks!
Just found your channel. Always an adventure to be found one way or another when you go out. Glad the truck is running again.
Thanks for tagging along!
I’m guessing that when you came home to find it a bit smokey, it could’ve been the paint curing on the stove which is perfectly normal and usually goes away after a couple of full burns. Great video! With a straight vertical flue of such a short length I’m sure you’ll be just fine.
Seems to work great, just a few tweaks at the beginning.
I feel like your truck needs its own TH-cam channel at this point
The ole girl, she needs love
What region are you in boss? Love the videos, first year hunting over here and struggling to even see an animal
Region 8, it takes some time but you’ll start to get there!
Where are you originally from?
Gee I didn't know it was okay to rattle Wt's with Mulie antlers. lol. One thing I did with my rattlers was to paint them orange so I wouldn't get shot while walking thru the woods with them on my pack. Fuel pump? If so, sometimes you can get it to work by whacking the gas tank a couple of times with a rock or whatever you have . Listen when you turn the key on and see if you hear the pump kick in. Had to change out a starter one time in the snow under the truck , that was fun!
lol they are working so far. I’ve definitely given it recent thought about the get up being very deer like right now, might have to add some orange somewhere. Yea it was the fuel pump. I was kicking it and trying a bunch of things. I even reversed polarity to it with direct 12v to try and get it to break loose. No cigar. Anyways changed now. Sounds like a blast!
So sick
👊
Bucky
Yea
YEEEEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWWWWW
…
Haha - frickin’ hilarious you driving it out with no power steering or brakes… that must have been exhilarating.
It was quite the rush at points! Hope your season is going well! Looking forward to the moose vid!
@ I’m getting out for one more whitetail hunt on Saturday
Truck troubles lick dude, good luck with it
Back out hunting! Thank goodness
Your ratling antlers are almost exactly the same as the buck i took yesterday!
That’s awesome! Ones a shed I picked up and the others from a buck I got a while back.
Glad you made it out safe!! Good vid.
lol thanks buddy!
Different truck next year I bet😅
I’m holding on for dear life! Haha
