    The 1200xp is such a good unit, Ive been using my smart load to "dump" excess solar daily into an EV without touching anything. I have also been able to crank my biggest 240v Mig welder to max output without even having the cooling fans kick on ( @ 131 battery amps continuous). I didnt know the smart load would take power in as well as output, if I hooked into line power to take advantage of grid tied solar.

    I guess I don’t fully understand what happens when panels are paralleled…I thought the amperage had to match? In your scenario one string is 13 amps and the other is 26 amps. I understand voltage stays the same but do all amps just stack up? Regardless of panel type? Assuming relatively same voltage?

    • @GavinStoneDIY

      @ right but you are feeding one side of the MPPT with roughly 24 amps and the other side ( I assume you meant the other side of same mPPT) with 13 amps. I thought you could only combine same numbers 12 and 12 amps for 24 or 10 and 10 for 20 that’s what confused me.

    • @GavinStoneDIY
      @GavinStoneDIY 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@SolarinStarke-kt2lm technically mppt 1 has 2 separate inputs. And mppt 2 has 2 inputs also. So 4 inputs, 2 mppt’s. So that’s to allow a scenario like this. It’s specifically for paralleling strings of solar. So technically you could combine them all out in a separate combiner box and send one string in with 30-35 amps worth of solar to each unit. But this allows you to send 2 strings in and it’ll combine them for you.

Guess I will have to try and figure the dongel comms out. I'm old and "old tech" so it gets difficult, even to type., eyes... If I got a smart phone for monitoring/updating, would I need to have a time plan, like with verizon to use it for local monitoring around the property? Or would I only need a plan for monitoring when away? Thank You sir, looks like you are having fun with all these new goodies.

    • @GavinStoneDIY
      @GavinStoneDIY 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ if you had a smart phone you could connect to it locally with just a Bluetooth. Or the smart phone and the inverter could just use your WiFi assuming you have it. My Ecoflow Delta Pro 3 has a Nema L14 30 outlet so it isn't too difficult to imagine how I charge it with the Eco but as Im gradually upgrading my setup I need a way to affordably do the inverse and charge my Eco with a EG4 wallmount and have the delta behave as the inverter. Maybe on those same bus bars add an XT60I out and charge directly until I can afford the 12kwhpv. Am I living fantasy land here, is there anyone you can imagine using the EG4 in conjunction with Ecoflow Pro 3 swapping current to charge one another without an exorbitantly expensive All in one? Thank you! I'm going to switch out my eg6500ex for these. I like these units. If you don't have a high input of pv per string, then could your one unit handle a surge better? I'm thinking of overdoing the units so they perform better under loads. I've used signature solar in the past. NOT HAPPY!!! I have 2 banks of 6 eg lifepo4 batteries, which 3 have failed in 1 yrs time and one of my 2 eg4 6500ex inverters did too. No warranty given to me by signature solar!!! A COMPLETE RIP OFF IN MY OPINION!! I'm looking to replace with 4-10048 Sungolds and add an additional bank of 6 more eg4 lifepo 48v to go with it. I have 27 pv 450w-550 double side panels and will probabbly add 10 more of these panels. We are off grid with a breaker switch on the outside to use the grid if needed, plus an outside hookup to a chargeverter for our generator to charge batteries with. We have a small 2 bdr 1200 sq ft home. We hang our wash out and don't use a microwave. Our oven and stove is propane as well as our whole house water heater. Our home is heated by our 2 split units of Mr Cool while also using our fireplace insert to heat with as well. New dbl pane windows and new attic insulation of rockwool 45R. Just tired of overpaying and maybe having an inept install with our current setup. Signature Solar doesn't rate a 1 star in my books!! Thank you for making this video. Have a great day! BTW, I have spoken with you in the past about my setup. Keep up the good work! P.S., my 2-eg4 6500ex beep a lot when the sun comes out in the morning or when the the sun fades in and out with clouds, as well as when the sun is setting. VERY ANNOYING!! How do these relate in this respect?

    Does this unit go to bypass mode when charging from gen? Or will it still invert from battery while charging battery? Seams like most use the inverting circuit as the charger. I have a military 10kw diesel genny with clean power. Problem is when i charge at max im at like 80% load on my gen. Then when the wife starts cooking or something it adds to the charging load and iverloads my genny. Or is it at least smart enough to monitor input load to not exceen geny capabilities. Like it will reduce charging until load comes down to not exceed set incoming amps

    • @GavinStoneDIY

      Good question. I believe you can set loads as priority and have charging second. So that way it won’t exceed your generators capacity. Can you use the current clamp on the meter feed wires to manage the output of this inverter considering the sum of current being produced by other arrays at the same time? In other words, if you have a target Kw contribution of say 10 Kw and 7 Kw is being produced by other arrays not connected in any way to the 8Kpv, can the current clamp attached to this unit moderate its output such that the total of all inverters feeding one meter does not exceed 10 Kw?
